Simple question about loot : will it be a realistic loot or will I find a chainmail coif on a giant rat? Second question, can I use the corpse of a beast to make items.. like it's skin, bones, organs as reagants....
Loot is , in general, realistic. Armour, weapons, crafting recipes etc all drop from 2 legged, sentient creatures. There were a couple of isolated incidents in previous Beta version where this didnt occur, but these have to my knowledge have been removed.
Animal, Insect, Spider, Avian and Trre-type creatures all drop claws, teeth, skins, bark etc. Some can be sold as vendor trash to make a little £/$, some are specially tagged as items that can be used in crafting.
Yeah it generally made sense as far as I can recall. I think there was one boar that dropped a knife (Bloodtusk's Tusk). Bats dropping medium hides is a little odd but I don't recall getting swords and stuff off of them.
Second, yes. Hides come from things like Boars, and you use them in Tailoring, some Armor Smithing, and in the grip component for weapons. The part that is a little weird if you want to look at things from a strictly realistic standpoint is that some "Trophy" type items were used in the dropped recipes. Like I think Bleakwind (a Drake in the North Downs/Angmar area) had a part that was used in a shield recipe.
Also some bits you wouldn't really expect get used as the critical component for mastered recipes. As in, once you complete a crafting tier, you have a 5% natural chance of creating a masterwork item, which usually offers some more buffs or more damage, and whatnot. Using a particular critter part when you executed the recipe would give like a 44% increase to the chance to crit it.

I think the bloodtusk thing went away, I always thought it redundent that the boar dropped a tusk that could be used as a bound dagger and the quest reward for killing him was a bound sword.

Bloodtusk's Knife is the Quest Reward for defeating Bloodtusk. He does not have the knife on his boar-y body.
Many of the sentient drops are bind on pickup though, which of course is not realistic.
The whole game is not realistic. If I were to look in my backyard right now and saw a couple of goblins and wargs roaming back there I would soil my underwear and call 911.

Too many times I fear people on these forums forget we are playing GAMES! As in NOT REAL people, it's all for fun. Our jobs where we work to make money to play these games unfortunately is real though.
I was wondering, is the loot system randomly generated at the time of drop in this game, like it was in AC1? Or are the drops part of a massive premade database of gear that have a chance of dropping per kill?
