While I do agree with the quality over quantity agrument, I don't think you guys will be saying that a month after release when you lose allot of people due to lack of content. If Turbine falls behind the power curve in adding stuff they will be hurting for continued subscriptions.
The game as is , has enough content to last 6months, if the player is not trying to top out in a week. For the most part I can honestly say I stand around for nearly an hour just looking out the scenerey. In both betas after a months play I only gotten to about lvl 20-24 . Bring that the content prgresses rather steeply in difficulty , It leaves a good many months of just relaxing RP'ing and fun . I want to roll different toons to, for farming pipeweed , weaponsmith , and stuff like that

No matter what people will always run out of ingame content within a few month if they blast their way to max level in a 3 or 4 weeks.
So far i haven't seen a game that had enough content at release for a powerlevel guild that plays 40+ hours week and all are maxed out within the first month.
Not even Blizzard managed to create enough content at release for the most hardcore guilds.
Will this game have enough content at release for such guilds.
Not in a million years, but i still gave Codemasters my $317 for my lifetime account.
If you're worried the game has to little content at release come back later or play casual in the beginning.
I don't really have any trouble with the size. What troubles me is the all the white stuff between the zones. It's just so unnatural and terrible unreal.
It's possible for Turbine to fill that out but i just took and outlined the world as we have it right now.
As it is now a lot of the maps are bordered by mountains, that's why i outlined Eriador.
Try to look at the zones individual if you like on a link i found on the betaboards.
That might give you an idea what i mean.
http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w215/Kersleaf/ Sure it is possible to fill that out. But I don't think they will do that if you consider the approach Turbine has taken to the world so far. Here is a map from early beta and late beta.
Turbine keeps expanding zones in the beta and they can continue to do it at release too.

You didn't get my point m8. I'm talking about the approach Turbine took to make every zone surrounded by Mountains and having a couple of exits in each end. You will never actually be able to really look into another zone. There will always be a high walls of mountains, nothingness and the other wall of mountains surrounding the other zone, coming up after that. No matter what they do to the size of each unique zones, will change that. And that is what I don't like about it.

That's not entirely correct.
You can stand in north downs on a mountain and look pretty far into breeland up near the big lake.
You can stand on a hill in lone lands and look far into Breeland too.
You can also stand in the Shire and look into Breeland.
In time i think they will remove more and more mountains so the world becomes more open.
just like they removeda lot of mountains in breeland when they opened up new areas.

Its the fisbowl syndrome, something myself and a few others griped about during alpha and beta. I stopped beta testing last september because of the world size and the glass fishbowl walls. I realized it wasnt anything that would be changing any time soon.

could be worse, they could have copied Vangard and went for the toilet bowl syndrome
Hey you hurt jacks feelings . Way to go RayxOr , I like you already
and I thought you two were old friends from the Vanguard forums LOL, Speaking of which how is Vanguard doing these days anyway? They announcing server consolodations yet?
By the way have you noticed LoTRO is still number 1 PC game over over at EB Games for like the 5th straight week, and it stays in the top 5 at Amazon.com
Back to topic isn't it amazing how Turbine packed in more quality content in just a smidgen of the world they have planned then Sigil did in that bug old world of theirs. I guess thats just the difference between using pros to develop your game and using amateurs like Sigil

Ive got vanguard jack you can have LoTR , its not my type of game. Looks ok but i played WOW enough am not paying to play another version of it and after trying beta its just to small and the landscapes feel like paintings so fake i just couldnt play it
That will be it for release. It's simply a matter of design philosophy. In Vanguard, Sigil decided to have a huge world and fill in the corners later. For LOTRO, Turbine decided to use a 'design as you go' approach in which the huge world will exist over time. The devs have said that as early as one month after release they will start adding more landmass areas, and those areas will have content. This is something Turbine is known for, and I see no reason for them to stop this practice now.
Well said.. There is an infinite amount of time to populate Middleearth. Look at EQ2, there were 2 booster expansions and retail expansion inside of what... 3 months? If SOE can get away with it for a fabricated IP, Turbine will do just fine with an established franchise.

One of Sigils ( many) problems is that they tried to do too much. Too many races, too much land etc. That is why the game is such a soup sandwich right now and they cannot make any headway in fixing it. Turbine started off with a smaller world, 4 races and 7 classes ( not counting the MP). But that means a smaller world packed with content and areas to explore, and balanced races and classes. One of the Devs posted recently that they are planning on adding content and areas monthly so I doubt most of us will run out of things to do and places to go.
Like another poster pointed out , even if he ran out of game in a month LoTRO is worth the box price.
Right now Vanguard should be free considering all of it's issues and it does not seem to be getting any better so no offense but keep your game. It just is not fun as the reviews, forum posts and declining population is showing. The only question about Vanguard is which will come first, server consolidations or free trials?

well good for you Sweede you just enjoy it ok, and don't worry about LoTRO being small or whatever. You see most of us in beta seem to be enjoying the heck out of it and sales are showing that. You have fun in Vanguard now, someone has to be paying them so they can at least try to get it playable.
Oh and I guess your epeen is bugger than mine, but then once again it is not how big it is but how well you use it My poor old 7900GT runs LoTRO at 50 FPS with the setting sset pretty high ( not maxxed of course) and the game looks fantastic, what more can I ask
Tuesday I started to order a Foxpro 8800GTS 640 OC card so I could max out all the settings in LoTRO. Newegg has them at 399 and a 40 dollar factory rebate would have dropped it to 359. I figured I could Ebay my 7900 GT for about 100, but then I went ingame (LoTRO) and said to myself " damn, this looks great just the way it is" and decided not to. Why spend 250 bucks when it you don't need to. I figure why bother till MS gets Vista up to speed and some DX10 games come out. The cards are just going to get cheaper and better and why spend money on some thing I don't need to spend money on. Maybe when Bioshock releases I might upgrade depending on what shape Vista is in.
The stupid hardware requirements of Vanguard is just one more example of why LoTRO is going to be a screaming success and Vanguard is struggling to keep from consolidating servers. McQuaid made some really really bad decisions and I wonder if SOE should just finish buying them out so Smedley can attempt to whip the game into a decent condition.

I like pie !
The game is apsolutely TINY
But it is apsolutely THE MOST RICH DETAILED MMO i have ever been lucky to see.
Even if it has content for one month , i will buy it for that month alone.

I dont have any problems with the game jack , my cpmputer runs it at max settings at 1920x 1200 and am retired jack i need a big game i play alot and games as small as LoTR all know every inch of it in a week , just like WOW good game same as LoTR but when you can play 24/7 everyday of your life and never have to worry about a thing small games dont cut it no matter how polished they are , Honestly jack i play alot and i dont run into 98% of the bugs people say are in the game remember when you posted your 3Dmark 06 score on the vanguard forums jack well i can take one of my vid cards out and still almost double your score not quite but close to double lol And most mmo's offer free trials jack thats just a smart business move , even blizzard does it and god knows they dont need to
well good for you Sweede you just enjoy it ok, and don't worry about LoTRO being small or whatever.
I miss DAoC
Nada so take it elsewhere
