Do dwarves level up through crafting?

Hi there, the title pretty much explains my question. I am thinking about getting into L2 since they have a entire race dedicated to crafting, but my question is do they get to level up from the crafting. Or will I be a underpowered crafter trying to find a group to go kill stuff for exp.

I'll go so far as to say that if you don't get into a good clan/alliance you will be leveling like everyone else "solo".

Of course, you can pole so that is aoe xp which might be of interest to some.

Dwarves are very very hard to lvl.

And unless you love crafting and love collecting thousands upon thousands of mats, you might not like this game.

  • Thanks for the reply though it looks like this might not be the game for me, I do love gathering the supplies and mats for crafting, but not so much the going out and killing stuff part of mmorpgs. My first mmorpg was SWG so I was kinda hoping it would be like there where crafters could level up by doing their trade.

Both SantaClaws and Sovrath provided you with the short and direct answer. No

I'd like to emphasize the concept of L2 a bit more. L2 is about utilizing PvP to control PvE. Dwarves, whilst they may be perceived as dedicated crafters, are still part of the order of battle. They form an integral and decisive component of any siege strategy. They are not meant to be soloed IOT "better" their skills. This game is about group effort in overcoming both PvE and PvP encounters. Each class is subsequently designed to fulfil  a specific role in that millieu.

Whilst you may not enjoy the "need" to XP, you may be pleasantly suprised and perhaps derive a greater sense of satisfaction from sharing the woes and joys of other players as you enable them to gear up in some of the best and toughest equipment in the game. Crafting costs are commensurate with the level of the players making the items. Unless you are gearing up alts, which implies that you have allready "paid your dues" in terms of time,  equipping your char is a very time consuming and expensive task. One, which with the aid of a kind and helpful Dwarf, can significantly reduce the cost and effort of the crafting process. Your gaming experience reward will be in the form of social interaction, rather than the satisfaction of seeing numbers click over on your skill stats section of you char info.

High level crafters used to be very well respected in the game, however , for many reasons there are fewer and fewer main class dwarves out there, and in many cases they have been relegated to the same category as buff bots, where they're not so much played as "groomed' to their functional levels IOT fulfil an intermittent need.

In group play Dwarves are still solid DD's and their flexibility with polearm masteries allows them to participate well in melee AOE parties which when composed and played well are still the fastest way to XP up melee characters. They also have a very important role in sieges and whilst my info in this regard is second hand, my friends assure me that casting and manouvering Siege Golems, Cannon and other contraptions are a lot of fun.

I wish, but unfortunately we don't.

and yes, us lil folk are damn hard to lvl up unless u have the backing of real good friends and good clan that looks after you.

as a player since the end of prelude, i started my dwarf at the beginning of c2 and since then i am still yet to get lvl75, to which is not far now but it aint been easy, as i am pretty much not a power player and stay as legit as possible

there are ways and means to get to the top in a few weeks, but where is the game play/achievement?

but i take my hat off to all ppl that choose dwarves and lvl them up as a MAIN!

flame if u like, i only pop back to this forum every now and then so i dont care!
