Thanks for the great link! Tons of good information, and the screenshots are making me drool. I am actually buying a new PC soon just so I can play WAR cranked when it comes out (I would like to have waited another 6 months to get more bang for my buck, but life does not always time things like motherboard explosions well).
This article also really has me wanting to make a Warrior Priest!
My only negative comment on the screenshots is that the heads are not up to the same standard as the rest of the character graphics and the environments, in my opinion. They are not bad by any means, but they are also not great.
Yay, looks cool. When I saw that warrior priest running, it made me feel he is "real" . I think physics will be great. However, I'm a bit concerned about the sound. In my opinion it's not worked out, as if it could get annoying over time. Of course many things will change untill release, but now is the time to take care of details- so we can have many perfect WAAAGH! moments later
That just looks AWESOME, it looks realy realy nice, it's just the same as the concept art
"It's no good coming to our game if you are trying to grow weed, It's no good coming to our game if you want to make pants. It's only worth coming to our game if you want to burn things to the ground." -Paul Barnett, WAR is coming
Thats pretty sweet. I just hope they don't have much clipping in the final product. I hate clipping, its one of my sore spots with WoW.
But the game so far looks like they have gone out of there way to avoid clipping... I guess collision detection helps with that a lot.
So yeah, the computer that I was on earlier didn't want me to post anything, and that was after I wrote a book, so I'll make it short.
The other day I ran into severe clipping just from objects being placed inside eachother. A cannon's wheel halfway in a wall, a table being pierced by the tent pole of the tent it was supposed to be under.
Also when playing as a Night Elf holding a staff, everytime you get hit, the flinch animation pulls the staff through the Night Elf's body backwards and forwards.
It's things like this that are avoidable with a little forethought and after seeing the animations vid, I think there's a lot of forethought going into this game.
--------------------------------------------- I live to fight, and fight to live.
Warrior Priest is only a Paladin with low defense and low attack power in my opinion. I definatly will never roll a paladin type class ever again. FFXI paladin sucked and WoW paladin sucked too.

Uhmmm.. I am going to disagree here.
Paladins are generally, in most fantasy and MMOs that , that I have played, armored KNIGHTS who are so pure and holy that they have special abilities given to them by some kind of 'good' outside force.
Just calling War priest 'paladins' because they can heal and buff, seems a bit premature and uninformed, dont you think?
If they have low defends and low attack power... that alone would seem to contradict your point. Paladins are ARMORED Knights, a particular brand of knight to be sure, but still a knight.
War priest are priest who wear armor, while maybe not enough of a change for you, it seems pretty significant to me.
Seeing as how Clerics in EQ also wore full plate, but were by no means ever mistaken for a paladin.
So by your own definition what would you call a Cleric in EQ? A Paladin who can heal well?
So by your own definition what would you call a warrior who wears plate ( in any MMO )? A paladin who can't heal?
And if you don't want to roll a 'paladin' type class in WAR, then you are kind of out of luck, almost every healing type released so far (With the exception of a shaman, who is long ranged) would fit your description of a 'paladin type class'.
Zealot, Rune Priest. Both pretty close to Paladin type class as well as the War Priest.
Your right, I don't know about WAR Warrior Priest class but I hope it is not like FFXI, and WoW's is all I am saying. A Warrior Priest can't be uber at melee and healing so they are supposed to be weak at the two right? To balance out? Unlike WoW paladin is uber at melee and healing and are impossible to kill which is the reason I quit that stupid non balanced game. I myself would like to see more information on Black Orc though. I heard they are a plate-type warrior? Or am I misinformed? Thanks in advanced. I want a class that wears heavy gear that is decently hard to kill which can kill decently well as well.
- You should REALLY check out the link for the article about the War Priest. Its on the VERY FIRST POST in this thread
- War Priest attack and heals are based on Rightious Fury , which you attain by attacking opponents. ( very loose description, probably not 100 percent accurate ). They can use this fury to power their heals or to power their offensive spells. This does not make them weak at healing or weak at attacking. They are less effective though if they do not attack ( much less effective).
- If you need to heal use your fury on heals, if healing is not necessary use it to power your attacks. Its will be very situational. and you will have to decide from moment to moment what to do.
Now on to your question about heavy armor types:
As far as we know, every race has a heavy armor type, so far these are:
Empire: Knights of the Blazing Sun
Chaos: Champions
Orks: Blackrock Orks
Dwarves: Iron Breakers
A good source of info on class types and their abilites:
Thats all the verifiable information I have at the moment. Hope that helps.
(And you get rating, as in stars by your name, for the amount you log in to your MMORPG.COM account) The more often you log in the more you earn towards your star. it maybe based on how many days you log in though not how many times you log in.
Good luck.
They recently (?) gave the full description of the War Priest:
Think of Righteous fury as a bit like rage if you want.
But its more like a special mana bar, you have a set of spells that use that mana, but you only get that mana from attacking, and you can also use that mana to increase other spells.
But it is like rage in that you have to build it up with melee combat, and that it can be lost.
Probably the biggest problem with the Warrior Priest is something that we see in all MMOs: others telling you how to play your class! Lords, I hate that!
But imagine a War Priest on the battlefield, fighting valiantly as she should, and she's built up quite a bit of Rightous Fury. A quick glance at her comrades' health shows that no one is in danger of dying for the moment, and she chooses to use some RF to use a damaging offensive move. Suddenly over chat:
"PRIESTS HEAL, NOOB!"
I am healing, she protests. No one needed any direct heals yet. To which the reply is:
"save rf for healz, don't use [insert badass powerful attack here]"
So even if though healing classes need to fight in this game, other players are inevitably going to think of them as their personal healbots. And I seriously HATE people who think they know your class better than you do. I played two classes in WoW, one of them a Druid. As you probably know, no matter what spec you are, Druids are expected to heal (and respec Restoration for endgame). I was Balance spec'd, but I had learned to use converve most of my mana for healing, and use OoC for free spells. But there was many a time where I was told to stop doing anything that wasn't healing. Of course, my revenge was usually to let whomever was ordering me around to die, or if the whole group was giving me grief, I'd hearth out right before the boss.
So all you non-healing types, let the War Priest do what they do best.
Seriously. It's Are'el. This forum doesn't allow apostrophes in usernames.

Don't do this to me Are'el, we have had this discussion before...
And in about two post someone will say: "If you did not want to heal, don't play a healing class. Some people like to heal!"
And then I will have to go on an insane tirade...
Of course there will be those who say that kind of stupid idiocy, but you must belittle them and put them on ignore. Especially since RF builds like rage and just 'holding it' would be the worst kind of stupid. Meaning you don't use your skills to the best advantage.
And I never thought of people telling me to hold RF, I was always more concerned with those telling me not to fight, "Your a healer stay in the back". but people telling me how and when to spend my RF or mana, would be ten times worse...
And I have/had it worse then you in WoW, I played a paladin. Sucky arse heals, but endgame and instances you are expected to buff 40 man raids (before they gave you greater blessings), and back up heal. A lot of top end guilds even REQUIRED YOU TO WERE CLOTH if you even wanted to raid with them.... and they wanted you to respec holy, at least you were allowed to tank from time to time...

I always think of the worst case scenario. Anyone that tells you how to use your RF, give 'em 9 levels of hell over it!
As for WoW, you automatically win any agruemtnt about who had it worse, just by being a Pally! Yeash, those poor suckers. Fully decked out in Plate armor, some decent tanking skills, but no one wnat them for that. Even if there's no Warrior available. As a Druid, I got frustratied with the healbot mentality, so I didn't get into the endgame with that character much. Just enough time for people to tell me to respec to Innervate, then always use it on the heal-spamming Priest. I loved my Druid the best, but I actually played my Warlock more.
Until I was told to spec out of Demonology, at which point I just threw up my hands and left!
Seriously. It's Are'el. This forum doesn't allow apostrophes in usernames.
I was just thinking... I have a pet peeve and it may not appear in WAR, but if it does, it would affect my gameplay alot:
This started in EQ for me but I have seen it in almost every MMO:
Healing classes: The aristocracy of the MMO.
By this I mean priest/cleric/healer always get groups, if a priest/cleric/healer ask for something, it will get done, because no one wants to piss a priest/cleric/healer off. Priest hijacking other peoples groups because they don't want to take the time to get their own group...
This is not so much a problem in WoW anymore after the Burning Crusades came out ( and not that big of one before it came out ), its no longer absolutely necessary to have a priest around nice but not absolutely necessary, hybrids are now able to take up some of the slack.
What i am worried about is: Will this happen in WAR? Will the healing classes be so rare and needed that they will become a kind of noble class unto themselves. Will we see the jack arse shaman who leaves a group in the middle of something important, because the group wont do exactly what HE OR SHE wants to do?
Or will healers in war just be a nice addition to a group? Especially since there is not death penalty besides loss of time?
Or will this be a non issue? Especially since healers are not confined to the back lines, they would become much more popular to play?
I would really like to know what you guys think of this.
Doubt it. The way these WAR healers are turning out they will be the most populas classes.
You worry about being told when to heal etc, what about the WP who does not heal and has convinced himself he is a damage dealer? Mythic has said their healers classes will all be able to do damage just not aswell as the damage classes. Its going to happen just like being told what to do will happen.
IMO healers will be the most played class, because they are HEALERS! There's just this crasy madness about being able to heal yourself and save your own ass than rely on other people to save yours. Well that's how I see it
"It's no good coming to our game if you are trying to grow weed, It's no good coming to our game if you want to make pants. It's only worth coming to our game if you want to burn things to the ground." -Paul Barnett, WAR is coming

I hate to say this I really do:
BUT SO WHAT?
If a War Priest wants to focus only on damage dealing, well thats his thing, and yes he decreases his usefulness to the group and himself by not healing, just don't group with him again
Just because someone does not play the way you think is optimal does not give you or me the right to tell them how to play their character. Just because you don't like how I live my life does not mean you can tell me how to live it. Even if it directly affects your life.
And yes I know some jerk healer in WAR will refuse to heal saying "I am a combat healer, my main focus is combat", and you will want to smash his face in. That still does not give us the right to tell him how to heal or when to heal. We might suggest that he do things a certain way or get out the group. But yelling "healz plz" is worse than anything he is doing.
When people start doing that, thats when main healers (in other games) become real scarce. In damn near every MMO the main healers are always rarer than gold or epic items. Its generally not considered fun to have to sit in the back all day and heal others. Then be told how and when to heal, by some 11 year old who likes to chain pull when you have no mana because he does not like to waste rage.
Thats one of the reasons most main healers act like asses. if they are going to have to put up with that crap. They expect you to do what they want.

If you want a real harsh death penalty, go play Russian Roulet. - Hamzal

Oh, now I get it so Warrior Priest is like a rage bar where you deside where to put the power?
100 rage example: you put 25 rage into attacking target, you put 25 rage into attacking and etc? If so that will be awesome.
But its more like a special mana bar, you have a set of spells that use that mana, but you only get that mana from attacking, and you can also use that mana to increase other spells.
