false hope
A SW MMO is not in the near future. Bioware has all but stated they will not be working with LA ever again.
Also, there is talk about a new KOTOR, so doesn't that one include Lucas Arts?
1. KOTOR 2 wasnt made by Bioware, so KOTOR 3 wont be either.
2. SOE / Lucas have already said they want to port SWG to the 360, hence the changes, so yes, you could see it there soon, or maybe the PS3.
3. Bioware said over a year ago when this rumor came out that they are NOT making SWG2 or any other SW MMO.

I've been following this for a long while and I've never come across anything that said BioWare WASN'T making the next SW MMO. While it is unlikely [sadly], they've never confirmed ANYTHING about their top secret MMO. There is still hope... not much but there is still hope for a good Star Wars MMO.
It's such a shame that with an IP as incredibly fertile for MMO as Star Wars, there ISN'T a great MMO. *sigh* Yeah, I miss SWG of the good ol days but ah well... maybe someday in the future something better will pop up.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
A) There will be a new SW MMO in the next couple of years. It may be by SOE, it may be by Bio-Ware, it may be by someone else all together. However there will be a 3rd Gen SW MMO by 09.
Bio-Ware has never stated that they will not work with LA again... this notion is pure internet fiction.
C) Bio-Ware has stated that their Edmonton Offices will be focusing on their own IP. The Bio-Ware MMO Office is in Austin and does not fall under this condition
D) While Bio-Ware has said flat out that they are not developing KOTOR III... this does not mean that they are not developing KOTOR Online... SOE arnt the only ones good at miss-direction and double speak.
Truth of that matter we arnt going to know what the new Bio-Ware MMO is untill they tell us. However there is no actuall evidece as yet that states that the Bio-Ware MMO and the 3rd Gen SW MMO arent one in the same... so there is still hope.
There is no evidence that they ARE the same game either other than "internet rumor".

Massive Multi-player online for Xbox is likely a FPS game for xbox live. Much like CoD, the battlefield series, Halo I imagine. The resources simply dont exist for Xbox Live to host such a game, because for it to be a MMO with a character you'd need to store it someplace and having character profiles residing on peoples hackable xbox is not a situation I forsee happening.
As far as networking Xbox's goes Microsoft doesn't really want people developing there own Xbox networks that would directly compete with them for revenue on the Xbox Live system of interconnections. It just doesn't make business sense. To develop a MMORPG for the consoles, particularly the Xbox seems about 1 or 2 generations from seeing reality. Just my opinion. Until I see a console based MMORPG actually work on a console I would say the chances are pretty slim of that.
As for Bioware,
I speculated alot on them doing the next sw mmorpg. I imagine Ralph and LA learned a valuable lesson from last time around though. Releasing information about it to early caused a lot of problems for the actual developers. Even Ralph admits SWG was released to early and I believe (Notice my opinions folks) is that they learned that put alot of pressure to get the game out of beta before it was ready.
My guess is you don't purchase the Hero engine, which supposedly is able to incorporate what ILM is doing with its Unleashed software and you don't seem to have people from Hero's developers working with LA if the 3 aren't somehow interconnected. That is the jist of my little speculation.
