WoW Hackers

FluidFluid Member Posts: 17

For the last few hours, on and off, there have been level 2, 3, and 4s roaming around areas like Felwood, Burning Steppes, EPL, and WPL.

They run faster then an epic flying mount, they seem to have hacked up to 300 gathering skills and are ravaging the zones for resources.

I did see one of them dead by a chest but he rezzed and ran off.  I also witnessed one get nuked by one of the elite dragonkin in Burning Steppes and take zero damage, they he ran circles around me and the mobs in the area.

They seem to only log in for a few minutes at a time but if you watch the different zones by doing a /who 2, /who 3- you will see a couple disappear from a zone but others appear in another.  I assume they are doing exactly what I saw in Burning Steppes.

My appeals get the generic response and now the forums are down too.

It is so obvious to see I don't understand how they get away with it for any length of time.  Let alone that it is still happening now as I am pretty sure this set of exploits was done last year-same deal.

...well that sounds like hackers to me. it cant be GMs if there's a couple running around, and besides, GMs wouldnt be scrounging resources.

    Which server are you on?

    Screenshots?

I'm not saying you're lying - it just seems a little hard to believe. You are not talking about a single exploit, but a whole group of them suddenly appearing. And very unsubtely as well. If a hacker has the sort of access required to magic his gathering skills to 300, why doesn't he instead just increase his gold up to 20,000? I'd guess both are just numbers in the same character database

Hackers don't just gallivant about the wilderness running at 1200x speed on a naked level 2 character. It just doesn't work that way. Also, if he took 0 damage from an elite dragon, how did he then die while opening a chest?

I call shenanigans on this thread.

You can call whatever you want, but I am not posting on some unknown alt here.

Flluid, Alleria-likely the char that anyone from Alleria would know.

Of the 10 names I reported only 1 is still active.  So it appears they are moving quickly-give them credit there.

I am not some random nub who confuses it with GM behaviour.  So despite your initial doubt it is in fact true.

Why was one dead by a chest but another resisted a elite fireblast?  No idea, likely not completely immune to damage but instead abnormally high resist rate.

The names were generally random gibberish like you would see spamming you with gold buying sites.   Go ahead, check your server.  Was it just an Alleria issue?  Maybe, but I highly doubt it.

Oh, and there were numerous witnesses not just me.

    Oh, 9:26 Eastern, Alleria.

Burning Steppes Sdaukweqa,  Deliandis. Both level 2 cruising around the zone.  Go look for yourself.  New names.

Wrwet in EPL.  I can't see this one as I have no char there but go check yourself.  Level 3 I think it was.

You want to see one?  Stand near a chest or resource node and SS it yourself.

No sooner do I post this little update and Saukweqa is now in Winterspring.  Pretty talented for a level 2 don't you think?

Oh, and the others logged off and Dsujb joined in the fun in Winterspring and Aibhineinn in Burning Steppes. Level 2 to 3 ftw.

I've seen it too, and I have no idea what it's all about. I was in Redridge when a level 2 gnome ran past me at blinding speed, several times faster than a mounted character. There's nothing in Redridge that's particularly fascinating, but she may have been heading to the Burning Steppes.  Are they just gathering resources and looting chests? Does their stuff show up on the Auction House? I saw a dwarf in the starting area do the same thing - most likely a brand-new character. She appeared, then ran off at ludicrous speed.

Unfortunately, screenshots of this aren't easy to come by. By the time I moused over the little bugger, she was gone. And a screenie would only show a character running, which is pretty easy to do legitimately. You'd need video to show just how fast they move, and I'm not going to record my entire play session just in case one runs by.

Speedhacking exists, but I doubt it's possible to hack a tradeskill up to a certain level. All the character information is stored on the server. But at those speeds, and knowing where the resource nodes spawn, it wouldn't take long to get one's skill up just by harvesting normally.

I have no idea what they are up to but the ones I have seen have all been dwarves.  Find Treasure ftw I assume.  They move way too fast to catch them, blew past me like I was standing still while I was running my epic ground mount.

I am assuming the are resource gathering too since one ran right up to me as I finished a Small Thorium node and of course the one I saw right by the chest.  When I said in the areas general chat about the hackers one of the regular guys said one has just took a chest right in front of him.

I just happened to be leveling my mining again today and was wondering why the hell there was nothing to get in these zones when they were practically empty earlier today.  Then I saw one of the buggers.

This is going on all the time. These hackers also happen to be the same people doing the COD scams, stealing accounts, spamming for gold selling sites, and you guessed it! They are working for the gold selling sites!

these are known Hacks that Gold selling sites use to fund their buiness. Blizzard know about this issue, Blizzard will do NOTHING about this issue. So just do what the honest people do.

if theres no Players to sell gold and resources to, why would these low life chinese farmers survive?

Actually i ran into a speed hacker the other day in ashzara, i  sadis oemthign to him told him i was going to report him and did.

He kept running around while i was talking to the gm , and low and behold  he just vanished.

They do take care of speed hackers, you NEED to report them when you see them.

Fwiw folks, Blizzard does deal with these annoying wastes of character creation. I have about 17 e-mails from the GM team stating they have "taken action against the account you reported". They do not detail what action is taken but said characters no longer show on my friend list (which I use to track these annoying bastards when I get spams and whispers). I keep the emails mainly as a "hah! I got one of you bastards!" things but they do go after and get these losers. It just takes time is all.

Keep reporting them, every last one of them and they will get weeded out. Personally, I go even farther and send a nasty response to them. Yeah, they probably don't speak English or don't care but what are they gonna do? Report me for bad language? I certainly hope they do. I'll take the wrist slap to their ban any day of the week.

These people need to find something else to do besides ruin the game for the rest of us. /snort
