It's been awhile since I played WoW (some time last year) and I was noticing they changed weapon skill. Can anyone give me a hand on determining if it's as big of a deal as it used to be? I had a few characters under my old account that I often regretted not making Orc for the +5 Axe skill, or Human for the +5 Sword/Mace skill.
Has it been watered down? or is it still a nice little bonus to hit/crit chance.
Thanks

It's not a HUGE deal, and it appears on equipment about as often as it used to (read: almost never) but it definitely plays a role in combat. You might check wowwiki.com for specific details, if you're really interested.
Seems like a lot of WoWwiki's info is pre-patch 2.0
TBH the new system is a bit confusing with all the new values, raitings vs. % etc.

Yeah it's ridiculously complicated. I'm not sure if they were trying to make it easier for new players to jump into, or if they were purposefully wanting to make it into advanced calculus, but either way it's insane at times.

I really don't think it's even that much. If I remember correctly, I read recently that each point of combat rating is worth roughly 0.4% but I could be mistaken.

This is what I read also. My thought it b/c it applies to a few things that it might add up and as a whole be a decent racial trait. I just don't want to end up lvl 60, well 70 now, and find myself in that same place... darn wish I'd rolled a ...
From what I've seen it looks like it adds to your chance to crit .1% per skill point, and reduces their chance to dodge, block, and parry by .04% But those numbers are from the WoWwiki, which seems outdated atm. These new things like resilience and ratings are foreign to me, and although I understand the purpose (to scale items/skills as people lvl) I don't fully understand their workings.
