They've stated that everyone will have some sort of mount. They're looking at and hope to include mounted combat, at least for certain careers. They've stated that they intend to make mounts extremely customizable, but that wolf and a horse in the background of a Bright wizard screenshot are the first mounts we've seen.
Traditionally, Goblins ride wolves or giant spiders, Orcs ride boars, Humans and High Elves ride horses, Dark Elves ride cold ones (raptor-style dinos), and Dwarfs have never had any kind of mount at all.
The wolf mount is made for the Goblins.
Orcs will have boars, and I guess the other races except the Dwarves will have some kinds of steeds (like in the tabletop game).
I seem to remember hearing something about that you can personalize your mount with armor and trophies etc. but I'm not sure.
Also there might be flying mounts, least that's how the rumour goes.
EDIT: Forgot about the Cold Ones, thanks for reminding me!
Though I wonder if Goblin squig herders can ride squigs... that would be awesome! They're really cool in the tabletop game.

Don't go there Adythiel... I already had this discussion in another post... with someone who wanted to be a Khorne Berserker, even though they are
A) not in the game as a playable character
Chaos forces in the came currently follow and get their power from Tzeentch
C) the chaos Deities don't generally get along
D) Khorne don't like sorcerers, and a Khorne berserker would probably attack any sorcerer he saw (When appropriate, they are not complete idiots, or there would not be any of them)
E) Any Champion of Tzeentch would take the first chance he got to 'remove' a Khorne warrior. Remember champions tend to take out all of there competition, especially if said competition is the disciple of another deity.
So no Purple Dragon PCs for you, otherwise the chaos boys will get restless

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Dragon Princes ride horses and just wear fancy armor? The story goes that they used to ride dragons? therefor, they'de be a perfectly reasonable PC class?
Unless there is gong to be a 5th class. No purple dragons for you. Unless you want to be like the guy role playing the Khorne berserker in the middle of a Tzeentch army.
I am talking pure High Elven professions at this point. The Dragon Princes of Caledor are the High Elf heavy cavalry unit. Their back story is a very good one. Back during the Golden Age of the High Elves before the all our War with Chaos, the Princes of Caledor used to ride on the back of the dragons of the volcanic regions of Caledor. The two shared an alliance, one wasn't really the master of the other. Since the war with Chaos, the Princes of Caledor have fallen into serious recession and no longer fight on the backs of dragons, but instead on the backs of horses with armor modeled after the look of their old mounts. In the TT game, a unit of Dragon Princes is a terrifying thing.
The Silver Helms are the core cavalry unit for the High Elven armies. They are a light cavalry unit that can be upgraded to wear heavy armor. They are a staple of the High Elves.
If I had my choice, the High Elf tank profession would be the Dragon Princes, but that's because I am just partial to them. I'd bet we see the Silver Helms as the choice for the Tank profession.
And just for good measure:
Dragon Princes of Caledor
And Silver Helms
But I am a Warhammer 40k buff, not a Warhammer buff.
And I would dare say most of those on these boards don't know every unit or the complete history of every race.
I know there are a butt load of Warhammer tabletop fans here, but we non Warhammer natives probably outnumber you guys by a good number.
I know its a pain but it may be better if you guys explain yourselves instead of just assuming we all know what your talking about.
All I saw was the word silver helms, I assumend you were saying the dragon princes were a different type of human mounted unit like the Duke princes or whatever there name is.
If either of those were to be implemented It'd be a safe bet it would be Dragon Princes over Silver Helms. The classes seem to depict players are above-average, specialty troops. Now, it's not all based off the TT verbadim, but seeing classes like Ironbreaker and Hammerer (which are both specials) would lead me to think if it came down to a choice between the Princers or Helms, they'd pick Princes.
That's just my opinion though.
Then again, it would probably come down to which of the two was more Iconic, and/or more common in the lands of the Elves (so it would make sense to have tons of players portray them). So who knows I guess. Hopefully we'll get some elven class anouncements over the next couple of months.
And by the way, mounted combat wasn't announced/confirmed. Just alluded to. It's highly possible they were refering to something else, or the feature won't get implemented. So until it's actually an anounced feature I wouldn't put stock into mounted combat.
I actually mentioned the Dragon Princes on the thread trying to guess at what the professions will be for the HIgh Elves and Dark Elves. At that point, mounted combat wasn't known and a discussion of the non-mounted Knights of the Empire happened. The KoBS are typically a mounted unit, but a while back I fought some foot Knights. That was the thinking behind how the KoBS could be included as a profession. This still left a bit of a problem for people that thought the Dragon Princes were a viable choice for the tank profession of the High Elves. However, the Dragon Princes are never a non-mounted unit as their history is a proud and noble one in which they rode on the backs of the most powerful beings in Warhammer, the Dragons. As time has passed, the dragons have become fewer, much like the High Elves, and significantly more difficult to awaken. As such, they are only called upon in the direst of times. In the mean time, the Dragon Princes have taken up riding Elven Steeds into battle dressed in armor meant to imitate that of their old mounts. As such, seeing a Dragon Prince not mounted as I didn't know Mythic had intended for major mounted combat at the time seemed an almost impossible choice as a profession without breaking the lore behind them.
Now that we know there will be mounted combat, the Dragon Princes are back on the table, albeit somewhat shaky since they are becoming so few in number. Silver Helms would be a more likely choice than the Dragon Princes, but that doesn't mean I can't dream of being able to play as a Dragon Prince in the Warhammer world.
So until Mythic violently shatters my dreams by announcing the tank class as being Silver Helms, I'll keep hoping.
Well not everyone We know that the Chaos Magus will always be on their disc so they get no mount. I believe there was an interview or article that said something like the disc IS the mount.
Which means they get a mount to start so there will obviously be some balancing. The disk will proabably move at normal speed until the Magus gets to the right level for mounts then it will speed up.
I think I will call them "Fresbee-Surfers"
PS. Yes I clearly doesn't know how to spell the word.. fresbee (or do I lol?)
