A few things for me. The graphics, the customization of the ships and systems, the freedom, the politics, the intrigue and the cut throat warfare. It's everything a good sci-fi universe should be
You may think of more, but for me is the perfect graphics.
You don't get out much then do you.
On this very site (mmorpg.com) there are pictures from another space based MMO that blows the current Eve graphics away. And come to think of it the next gen Eve graphics blow the current Eve graphics away. And, while I have never seen them, I have been told that the DX10 graphics for Eve are even better.
Non-concentual PvP that is what makes Eve stand out. Even in the safest of safe systems in the biggest, most evil ship, you can get killed. And all you can do about it is whine on the forums.
The part I like best is the Big Picture. There's a lot of freedom. There's no shards. Much of the economy is player driven. And there's room for people to participate in groups with tasks other than "raid stuff and get loot".
Unfortunately, I disagree with a lot of the "small" stuff, like how combat works, how crafting works, how research works, and so on.
Been playing EVE about a year now and still feel I haven´t experienced half of it. Also I really like that you can do things like Privateers did. In some other game devs would have limited the wars you can have or something like that but not in EVE. They felt like they didn´t have enough targets in and came up with a plan to finance their 50 war decs and now reap the benefits and at the same time make empire bit more interesting place to visit for the rest of us. Really cool in my opinion. All 0.0 alliances are of course also a good example of the way players can shape the world but the reason I mentioned Privateers first because they did something that went against the general consensus of how this game is played and succeeded with it. I don´t think there are many games where you can do that and certainly none as good as EVE.
Well one thing would be the freedom to choose who and what I am; people don't look at me as an archtype but as a person who has a potential to do anything.
Eve can be fun to alot of different people theres lots of things to do in eve, some of which some people enjoy, and some people dont. But for me its taking 15 guys in my corp in 0.0 and going and owning 20+ guys with very few losses. I love to pvp in 0.0. A little bit in low sec as well. Theres so many aspects of eve, it doesnt get very boring. And thus the reason for taking a month to even be somewhat effective. Longer to do good in what you do.
You may think of more, but for me is the perfect graphics.
that the devs and staff play and since they play, they know all the changes to make so that their toons/corps are uber.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
What I like most about Eve Online is that I'm not giving them any more money, and that they are clueless about their reputation and its severely tarnished.
========================== The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You? if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it. Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end
The risk of losing your ship and it's contents. So many games have what I call carebear pvp, where there is no risk. Here there is risk.
Signed....where others state they have pvp..eve really has pvp.No matter what the fanboys of any game have to say bout it , all their pvp is is carebear riskfree pvp.
OW no i have a small decay on myarmour and i need to walk 5mins to resurrect my body....owwww plase stfu
Single server which makes the universe really feel large is a plus. Though I see some technological limits being met there. Plus they really need WAAAAY more space to get back the feeling of emptiness it used to have.
Open ended player development. Even though I enjoy off-line training, I do think it causes a lot of downtime where you can only wait, or go mine. This needs to be improved by allowing skill gain by actually doing things.
Corporate development. Developing your own corp helps you really feel like your in charge. But the interface is horrid and needs to really be improved.
UI. It's unique, but outdated and a little cluttered.
Graphics are unique.
Unique world. Content is weak though and CCP uses the "players are content" card to liberally.
Well, that was more than one, and offered pro's and con's. Sorry OP, I tried.

A great man inspires men with what he can do. A great leader inspires men with what THEY can do.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Hard to put only ONE thing as I love the game, have done so for the last 3 years (exept I have canceled my accounts now)...
But the things I loved with EVE-Online is quite simply the freedom, ... freedom in professions, the great market and such.
I really miss that in games like WoW that I am playing now.

Offline training - no need to grind XP.
Have fun

There is too many things to mention what i like about the game, its all said in the above posts.
I just like the game as you have great choice over what you can do or fly or kill

Guides & Trials for EvE Online:
Freedom definetly.

Freedom, as others have said.
EVE is one of those games where sometimes it gets a little old, but from that, it can always become new again.
