Leaving WoW in hope of a new game

I just recently left WoW after having played it for the past 3 years of my life essentially, I was in the beta and until last week was an active player.  I am looking for a new MMORPG to play until Warhammer or Fury comes out.  Could anyone give me a few suggestions?  I played Asherons Call also till around level 145 and was a very strong PKer, My name was Demonseed on Darktide.  I am looking for a game that has a PVE effect but your PVE work does not nessicarially mean you are good at pvp.  I am mainly focused on a pvp game that I can sit back and watch the cool colors on my screen such as if I watch an Ultima Online pvp battle.  Please let me know of any games you might think would intrest me!!! Thank you again

DAoC? If you are looking for a solid game for PvPing, Dark Age of Camelot seems to be one of the best PvP games out there right now. I'm not sure about watching all the pretty colors, but the RvR combat is very rich and, in my opinion, has not really been matched by any other MMO out there right now.

Try Battlefield 2142. Should ease the wait for WAR :) Other than that I don't know of any game to play... everything just seem to bore me within a day.

Hero Online.? If you are rich in real life, then you will find u fit into that game. So you should leave the game earlier, cuz you can go past lvl 50 w/o a rare.

If you're thinking short term (until Warhammer comes out) and you want some nice PVP, I might suggest GW. I don't personally think of GW as a "long term" game... it sort of gets old after a few months. But, there is no subscription fee, so you could buy it, play for a while, and then dump it when WH comes out. It'd be significantly cheaper than investing in a game with a monthly fee, and the lack of longevity won't matter because you're only trying to use filler until WH comes out.

Im in the same situation... bored with WoW after more than 2 years playing.. and tried all MMOs noted above..waiting for warhammer mainly.. : (

World of Warcraft is a proof that MMORPG quality should affect schedule/budget and not the other way around.

What style of PvP are you looking for?  If team - arena style will do then look at guild wars.  EvE has the best world PvP but it’s increasingly dominated by high skill point players in ships you can’t hope to afford or fly until you’ve played for more then a year. The other top PvP game is DAoC, but it’s getting a little dated at this point. Lineage II could be ok as well, but it’s supposed to be a bit of a grind fest.

If none of those fit your taste, maybe check out the PvP servers in EQ2. Despite still having some serious problems EQ2 world PvP is still quite enjoyable at lower levels so it could keep you happy for a few months until WAR, AoC, etc come out.

It's most definatly not dead, I assume you tried the EU version becouse there it is true, try the US version and the classic servers. There you will have about 3000 players during peakhours, and pvp from lvl 1 in the BGs.

DAoC 14 Day Trial US Version

I'd suggest DAoC or GW.  The "classic" servers on DAoC are still rather active and crowded, and there is plenty of RvR happening in them.  GW is more casual and you can jump right into PvP without even leveling a character if you want to.

Thanks for your responds, i actually have GW with the 2nd expansion and tried it for a few hours but i couldnt get into the gameplay...idk what it is about it but maybe someone could tell me whats good about it and i might check it out.....

I've been hearing a lot about DAoC lately and i should like it because in my WoW days i couldn't stay leveling with all the ganking opportunitys for a rogue in red ridge and other noobie zones

How is the new battlefield? i remember seeing it on the shelves when it came out and almost bought it but i figured if i bought one i should buy the one everyone was playing (1942) but i ended up waiting on it....just wanting an opinion, is 2142 funner than 1942? if so then whats different about it?

Well if you're into PvP, you can just jump right into the action with a PvP-only character at level 20 and just join on in on the fun.  The PvP is all arena-style, and it's very much dependent on making a good build and knowing how to use it well, rather than being dependent on level (everyone is level 20 anyway) or gear.  And of course GW has no monthly sub.  The PvE side of things is totally instanced, and not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like arena PvP, GW lets you do that from the get-go, which is unique and fun.

DAoC doesn't have "world PvP".  There are leveling PvE zones and then RvR areas, either in battlegrounds for specific levels or in the free-for-all "New Frontiers" borderlands area where the realms fight over keeps and relics and that kind of thing.  It's a great PvP system, but to be honest the best of it requires a higher level character, so you are grinding to get levels to get to that point of the game.  Mythic is addressing this issue somewhat in its design for Warhammer, which will feature a lot of RvR content for all levels.  Still, DAoC is a great game for those who like more meaningful PvP as opposed to ganking.

I just started to play SWG just to see what all the fuss  with soe was all about and I think it is a pretty ok game not sure what I missed but I think it has the pvp colours you mentioned.

Also I play Entropia universe its a very good futuristic rpg with a real cash economy ,and they have opened up another PVP area where you can mine for unique minerals , some player got tagged and looted for $1000 yesterday..doh .

Now Im not sure about flying colours in EU PVP , but its heart stopping action ,there is lots of info on their home page and forums check it out.;)

EU (formerly Project Entropia) is just a casino, not an MMO, please dont tempt anyone else to waste $$s there.

The game is ruled by chars 3-5yrs old who own 95% of the economy. MindArk (who own the game) have it registered in Sweden as a casino. Check the forums if you want to see how much in-game players HATE on MindArk. Its empty and rightly so.

If you have not given EVE a good 1-month try, I would certainly recommend it over all others.  Essentially FFA PvP with various grades of 'safeish' areas.  Full player economy.  It is a true 'skill' based game where your Ship is your persona and it takes a good deal of thinking to do valid ship builds.  Given that you can freely change-out your ship build at any time and at no cost, it is fantastic for tweakers.

Now, I am not an EVE fanboi.  I do not play EVE anymore, and do not really like FFA PvP.  But, for the requirements you set out, EVE really is the absolute best game out there.  And, man, is it pretty.  :)

    Good Hunting
