Aside from in-game music, what music to game WAR with?

I'm gonna go for GWAR (Funny eh? G-WAR) xD Never listened to really but only heard a couple of samples. Sounded like something which could fit for a PvP game anyways :)

What music ya think could be good to play WAR with?

Anything from Mother Goose would rock. Just think of slaughtering dwarves with Mary Had a Little Lamb or the Muffin Man playin' in the backround.

As with any mmorpg whatever music you enjoy listening to for hours on end. trance, metal, rock, pop, rap, hip hop, classical?

I just remembered. When I play EvE Online I usually listen to EvE Radio. Makes playing EvE more fun. So some online radio station with good djs would probably be a good way to go. That's what I'll probably do from now on. Lots of variety too between the different djs and the time of day etc.

It is pathos we lack, and this lack of pathos makes the worlds we explore quite stale.

Aye but when you truly wanna feel the heat of the combat classical music ain't really that fitting is it? xD I'd say I do alot better on the battlefield if I got some serious back-up music

    Hello,

Im considering playing a shaman, and ill most likely have to listen to my friends whining and yelling "OMG HEAL PLIXX!"on vent, rather then to any music :P  I'll just make sure to log on after they've gone to bed and turn on some "Rise Against","Social Distortion" or "Autopilot off". <3

If you just want to annoy youself, you could allways try to have this playing in the background.

WARNING: May cause headaches if listened to over a long period of time!(Especially if opened several times and have it running in around 8 tabs/windows in your browser, it really messes up your head :P)

    Music to PvP to?

Mortiis, particularly some of his more instrumental stuff. One of the few Black Metal bands I can stomach.

    Black Flag/Rollins Band

Me, personally, I like to play Combichrist's Everybody Hates You album. Good stuff if you're into industrial/ebm.

O Fortuna from the opera Carmina Burana is another good one, if you're looking for something in a classical vein. And in all likelyhood you're familiar with the music, even if you've never seen the opera itself. Most notable use of the song I can think of off the top of my head is from the movie Excalibur, when Arthur and the Knights ride out to the final battle with Mordred's army.

You tube clip of the song. Don't click me at work

I actually have the soundtracks for a bunch of games (and some MMOs) and they are awesome to listen to.  Other than that, I usually listen to the music provided in the game and keep a keen ear out for specific sounds that would indicate something important was going on, like me being attacked from behind or hearing someone do something nearby etc.

Did they mention who was doing the soundtrack for WAR?

I love the stuff Jeremy Soule did for Guild Wars (and expansions) and Oblivion.

Classical Music, if you want music that accompanies a fantasy setting.

Orchestral scores, military scores, german composers were quite good at these.

Look for Mars, The Bringer of War by Holst.  Greatest War March Ever - almost sounds like Starwars Imperial Music.

Death Metal or anything that  has a grunting guy or screaming guy.   I am under the belief that if you have a serious emotional or mental complex and/or hate for society or your parents you listen to this and like it.

    Warhammer-themed death metal.

And really, you can't go wrong with GWAR. Crack-smoking chaos demons from outer space are a perfect fit for the Warhammer universe.

I will go for classic rock. ZZ Top, Queen, David Bowie, Metallica, Green Day (not classic, but still good), Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and ofc The Eagles. Probably missed a few bands (Police for example), but that's not so important, I would say that the music u like nearly always fits to the game u play. Altho maybe a few prefer to have it quiet when they play.

Hey, I'd forgotten all about them. I remember listening to Bolt Thrower, and even though I am a parent-hating sociopath with complex mental and emotional issues, I didn't like them much. GWAR are amusing, however.  Warhammer has always had a death metal / thrash connection under the surface. Even John Blanche (a games workshop artist) had long hair, dressed in black and leathers, and rode a Harley (if I remember that old picture of him correctly).

But Daemons of Chaos smoke warpstone, don't they?... or is that Skaven? - probably both.

Hell yeah! I still have some of my old White Dwarf magazines with his "Blanchitsu" painting section. All of his stuff is just crazy spiky overkill - I love it. GW didn't have the clean-cut corporate image back then.

Bolt Thrower is a novelty band. If it wasn't for their themed lyrics, they'd be just another generic death metal band, but they're always fun for a few songs, especially during a game of WFB or 40k. This thread got me to dig out my copy of Warmaster, which I haven't listened to in years.

Skaven smoke warpstone. Chaos Daemons smoke Skaven.

Heh, I've been lurking 'round for a topic like this.

Personally, I'd play something fiting for my race/class. Playing a Chaos Magus, I would probably listen to some brooding, gothic/doom music. On the other hand, a sick and twisted Dark Elf wouldn't be complete without an evil Black Metal soundtrack (Sort Vokter and the like...). If this was 40k, and I was playing greenies, I'd listen to some punk/oi!... them orks iz 'eavy wif th' cockney! If you want something to just play in the background (or you're stoned as hell) then playing something like Bohren und der Club of Gore or Killimanjaro Dark Jazz Ensemble is the order of the day. Jazz is also a good choice if you're sitting in a tavern, chillin' with your budies... anything from Keny Wheeler, Dave Holland etc. D'n'B would fit like a glove in a frenzied PvP battle...

A good in-game radio (or radios!!!) would be absolute killer with the right DJs.

    I am His will incarnate.

Maybe we should see about getting the option of burning our music into the music files. I don't think it'd be all that hard for them to do either. Of course I know, most likely won't happen. Would be a dream come true adding my own music to the game while chopping things up.
