That screenshot was apparently posted at gamestop about a year ago... apparently that is a cloak from before my time in beta, just based on that screen I prefer it to the cloaks they are using... of course I would prefer to see lots of different cloak types. I don't know why most games put tons of variety to all the other clothing and armor pieces and but only give you one cloak with either the hood up or hood down.
I never really cared for cloaks until I starting playing this game
Also agree with limited cloak types, though I did get these one light or cloth shoulder pads that actually looked like a neck wrap. It was pretty darn cool.
but not only the cloaks, but also that screenshot is great hehe probably my fav screenshot I saw from lotro, you can just feel the calm and friendly atmosphere of 'hey guys! lets go hunt some orcs and have some fun!'
Not seen anything even remotely that cool in the last 6 months....Could be wrong but that screenie looks like it was taken in the MEO days.
Turbine have said no to guild cloaks and/or designs although it has been hinted that the cloak from the competition will be in the game, so maybe it will be the founders cloak? or maybe a high level reward.
That is something I never put too much thought into, why don't most games have different style cloaks. Most have different lengths, but they need to get more creative!

There is games out there that let you design your own guildclock/tabard.
DAOC has a neat system where you can make a lot of variation on your guildcloaks.
I loved it when everyone had same brown cloak in beta 1 :P
And all cloaks appeared to be made of 6" ply wood
speaking of which has anyone noticed the new animations on the cloaks? they look great not only when riding but also just standing or running, I'd have to say they are nicest cloak animations I have seen. The beta 1 cloak animations when ridiing were straight out of early DAOC and they were humorus to say the least. The game has came a long way.
I hope that Turbine is saving cloak designs for a surprise at launch...after all, how hard would it be to have a variety of cloak textures?
I guess what I'm saying is that I hope what we have now isn't the end of cloak design.

fancy cloaks are already in the game for those who upgraded their accounts with the pre order disk rather than making a new account like I did. Apparently that give you the pre order cloak on all your characters and the ring. It is bugged though where you cannot delete them( they are pretty good for level 1-15) at the moment so you will lose 2 inventory spots so depends on how curious you are and how high you level is. That bug is suppose to fixed in the next patch however.
Well if you think about it.. You're going to spend 100+ hours looking at the back of your character. The cloak better be good, I'm really tired of all the cloaks I've ever had on WoW.. Blue with a Blue Strip.. Blue w/o strip.. Different colour blue.. Oh look everyone in the party has the same texture on their cloak. And colour wow I'm special.
This reminds me of a few months ago. My and my buddy were ready for the first MC pull.. Aside from our names we looked EXACTLY the same. You spend the whole game trying to make your own character only to get maxed out and look the same as everyone else.
I hope the design for the founders cloak is unique to the founders cloak and not used again every 6 levels.
FYI on the cloaks for all of you founders: Your founders cloak depends on where you bought your pre-order from
The only drawback is that, game mechanics wise, it is only really viable until level 10 or so, but it's great to bring it out for RP sessions or Kinship meetings!

I think EQ II have it now but can't remember.

I think they are holding designs back until release.. I can imagine they have some nice patterns lined up.
