My hero defender is pure Empath all the way down. I have to group cause it is damn hard soloing because it is all in empath and leadership. I love grouping and with pure healer type I get a ton of tells to join teams.

Just put in your discription that you are empath healer when looking for groups and you will not wait long. Least on Virtue server.

I am not to fluent on the villain side if your wanting to make a healer villain. Maybe someone else has some advise.

    Goodluck!

For a hero, the empathy set is the premier set when it comes to straight out healing.  Other sets to look at are kinetics and dark miasma.  They both contain a very good AoE heal power, and the dark miasma set even contains the only AoE rez power in the game.

If you are going for a hero, both the controller and defender AT can get empathy and kinetics.  Dark miasma is only available to defenders.  If you are going for a strictly team oriented character, I would suggest playing a controller, though their heals are slightly less powerful then the defender version by about 25%.

On the villian side, the empathy set doesn't exist.  The two ATs that get access to heal powers are Masterminds (they can get dark miasma) and corrupters (who can get dark miasma, kinetics, and thermal).  The thermal set is a corrupter only powerset that packs plenty of heal powers, and even some shield powers.  Once again, if you are going for a team friendly powerset, I would suggest playing a corrupter over a mastermind.  A mastermind is a pet class, and half you attention will be taken up controlling your pets, and not paying attention to the party.

Yes the corruptor is the better team healer than the mastermind.  Mine is poison secondary and I only have a single target heal, which is good enough for my pets but it would be very hard to try to spam it to heal them and my team mates.  Thermal does seem to be the best healer/buffing secondary for CoV, AE and single target heal, plus damage shields for more forms of damage.

Though I will add that Force Field for masterminds is a great buffing secondary, though you would lack heals unless you took the Medicine power pool.
