BIG question(s) from an OLD player

Ok i have an old unactivated acct from 2001.

Question one:  If i reactivate, and make a new char, do i get the benifits of being a VET on that new char??

Question two:  Can you still play this on Old school Renaissance?, Because i hear the expansians are lame, and i agree...

Question three:  how can i DL this game for free?, cuz i lost my CD

Question four:  I heard there are free servers out there that are good, this true? and how do i access these?

(ps. anyone ever play Diablo2?  <------ that game is sick ^^ )

    I'm not exactly sure about your first question. I could argue it both ways. Since you haven't paid EA the cash for 6 years they might not give you the benefits. Again, I'm not sure.

    The expansions aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I don't like the armor/weapons with the special attributes and such, but the game overall is stil the best mmo on the market. You can play on Siege and its "similar" to the way UO used to be. But there are alot of things that suck on that server. Like only being about to have one char. Skills gain much slower than regular shards. There is a whole list of stuff at uo.com and stratics.

    I don't think we're allowed to post info about free servers on here, so I won't. They do exist, but I have no experience with them. Alot of the free servers are the old school ruleset, but I guess one day the server could just up and stop hosting. I doubt they have much customer support either. Though UO's GM's are a joke anyway. The most unhelpful b@stards I have ever(never) met.

    For the Vet rewards no you won't get them, I reactived about a month back after a few year long break myself and didn't have any new vet rewards on the account.

    As far as gameplay it has changed alot, and you can't play the old way, with Age of Shadows expansion they tried to make the game much more like Diablo 2 with the combat and resist system. Also with power scrolls you can no longer have 7 skills at the max level, so you will have to redo all your character templetes down to 6 skills.

    Other then that the expansions have been pretty nice, added lots of new items and housing options to play around with. Really the main thing that turned me away from the game is trying to pick what skills to remove from all my old templetes.

    There is a free digital download to the game, it is located off of the main ultima online page under the free trial area.

    As for playing the game for free, almost every mmorpg out there has private servers, keep in mind though these servers are illegal and often not well monitored against things like players cheating.

    You can still have a seven skill template, but most people don't. In othe words you still have the 700 skill points to mess around with, but with the powerscrolls you could choose to have only 6.

    7 skills at 100 = 700 total skill points

    6 skills at 110-120 = 700 total skill points
