Why do these guys not update their website? I've seen some stuff that was released recently, and yet it is not on their website....

Well? Im not quite sure what you are reffering too. If its the Warrior-Priest information thats because its an exclusive (I imagine they will include it eventually). Most of the information released on a monthly bases comes from the newsletter and thats there too. So Im not quite sure what this thread is actually about?

Yes they dont include every piece of information released (mainly because its a way of rewarding fansites, etc). Not that big of a problem though, to be honest.

Hmm, I guess I just find it strange. (I'm high strung because I don't actually receive the newsletter even though I'm signed up for it)

I get mine sent to Hotmail but it arrives after most people get it so I end up reading most of the information released on forums (much like this one). Theres always the archives so its easy enough to find anything if you missed it and alternatively websites like this one have a list of all the newest information released not to mention the forums are great for getting all the latest information fast. Ashame there are no official forums... is my single gripe.

Not to get off-topic, but how would official forums change where the info is found?  Since the mods of the forums would work for Mythic, when a website got an exclusive, since they always wait to put it on the official site, then they'd wait to put it on the official forums.

Granted forumites would post it, but you can find forumites posting it now.  It would be no different, just a different url. :p

There's a convenient "Forums and Fansites" link on the official site that takes you to the same place as if there was an official forum..... to a forum, where fan information could be found.

The only difference if they had "official forums" would be that the "Forums" link would take you to their forums instead of other forums, which both would have the same information.

Not to get into this debate as I already participated in a very long discussion concerning this issue. All the pros and cons have been debated and analyzed in that thread and it was my own conclusion that the benefits outweighed the cons in Mythic hosting official forums. In the context of this thread it means that not only would all official information be a click away (on the same website) but all unnoficial information would be gathered by forumites.

Yes they have a link to forums and fansites and I have to sign up to each of these seperatly to take part in the interesting conversations I find on each. Yes the herald will be all inclusive for information when the game comes out and forums will only be a community hub but again it is a personal preference and ... Im not going to get derailed into the argument again needless to say everything is in that thread.

If u have a yahoo email they already addressed that, its because they send so many emails to yahoo that the servers kinda get overloaded, so make a new account on a different mail service, u can use almost any other then yahoo

The point is you would not have to scourge the internet seeking that stuff.... example: i consider myself pretty well knowladgeable about WAR (even if lately i do not freuquent much specific forums) and just today I heard of Gamespy exclusive videos about chaos...

Now imagine a more "casual" forumite that just look at THIS site. how much stuff is he losing out? an official forum would solve all that.

And yes, I heard their explanations thousands of times and I still think they are wrong, but hey! that is just me.

Well I didn't mean to derail the topic.  He just snuck the comment in there, and I responded. :p

I can see what you mean, but even if they had official forums, they wouldn't have anything like the 3d Interactive Map, or Career Calculator that's going on over at WAR-RVR.net or their Mediaplayer that has every video ever made ever about WAR listed. (Not to mention every Audio Interview)

If they did have Official Forums, much fewer people would look at the fansites as much and the motivation to make something like those few things might not have been as strong, but we'll never know for sure. :)

As to on topic:  Yeah I think it's been covered, but I don't think hotmail and yahoo work well with their mailing list or something.  Not at all sure why.  Go yell about it on their official forums. ;)
