I started evrquest because of the returning player free month crap and i'm missing the last 6 exp is the game to dead to buy all 6 that i am missing or should i just buy the latest exp to play?
I'm a returning player also. What I suggest is buy the Titanium addition and The Serpent Spine. The Buried Sea and Prophecy of Ro can wait until you decide. I returned and started a new Drakkin Monk on the Fironia Vie server. The FV Server was one of the few that did not benefit from the server merges. I don't have any trouble bumping into another soul. The community is still here and though there is not hundreds in PoK at any one given time there is still quite the crowd and some of them are still decent people. Perhaps I've been lucky.
If you do decide that you want to return, Welcome back to Norrath. Otherwise, find something you like and good luck in that world.
Just hold on a bit longer as they will be introducing a new all-in-one package except for TBS. And for the $20 (est) it'll cost you cannot beat it. Yes missing the last 6 expansions will hurt your enjoyment if you like to group, if you solo, you can probaby make do if you have no plans on playing for awhile after your free play!
If SOE releases an all new compilation package for the upcoming 8th anniversary & it DOESN'T include the Burning Sea expansion that is just wrong. Probably because in the minds of the SOE marketing Gnomes they feel that players/customers would go ahead & buy that last expansion they don't have even though the Burning Sea is digital download only. Regardless, if it's NOT include that;s really showing that SOE isn't wanting to put forth an effort. Titanium is a good deal & the new package if there is one should be titled Adamantium. Try Escape to Norrath for free to find out if you like EQ. & yes, EQ is in a state of decline, it has been for the last couple of years. If a brand new player joins Norrath one has to consider the massive content exposure & the never being able to catch up with the upper tiers. The over inflated economy because of EQ's natural growth over the years will hurt finances ingame. The decline in player population has hindered the very essence of EQ, group play which has been over run by raiding. EQ can no doubt still be fun, but it is not the game it used to be by far. Some of that is SOE's fault, some of that is natural. If you try it hopefully you'll like it, but expect to only be able to progress your character(s) so far because of the gaming set-up of EQ.
I couldn't understand a word Dijon said. But as others have stated. Buy Titanium. If you enjoy the game and make lvl 60+, begin buying the extra expansions.
Besides Chip194's noncomprehension ability, must be a Troll or an Ogre, I suggest try the free 'Escape to Norrath' first if you hadn't already. No reason to go ahead & buy a game you may not like at all. This way you get a feel for the game & decide. Currently the Titanium is the best compilation package since it contains all expansions but: Prophecy of Ro, Serpent's Spine, & Buried Sea. However, with EQ's 8th anniversary upcoming soon there might be another SOE announcement about a more up to date compilation package. It depends upon the SOE marketting Gnomes crunching the numbers to figure if it would be profitable. If you're missing the last (6) expansions though the Titanium would still be missing the last (3) expansions. So much content in EQ now which requires a hefty amount of playing catch up. If you decide to return to EQ, I've had similar thoughts myself time to time, good luck to you & try to have fun whenever SOE allows it.
I too was half-looking into this. It seems theres Titanium currently and then there are about 4 expansions since? So I might wait to see if they release an all-encompassing one. Though, do you get a free month's subscription or is that only for new players? Don't really want to fork out subscription and for the expansion pack just to see whether I'll enjoy EQ now or not.
Don't waste you time buying all of them wait for the one in april and test drive it. Because I am sure EQ/Sony will have another expansion for you to wastes you money on, or they will just raise the prices again.
From what I understand the new "Package" deal will come out on or around April 23rd, granted this is a month away but if you can hold off that long (Which is what i am doing, just returned to EQ after a 2.8 year break) it will save you alot of money. Found an article about this, here is just a portion of it:
Clint Worley, Producer for EverQuest said, “After eight successful years of EverQuest, we wanted to celebrate with the release of a very special Anniversary Edition, which consists of all the expansions ever created for EverQuest, including the most recently released expansion: The Buried Sea.” Worley added, “The Anniversary Edition is not only chock-full of content, but priced to allow players both old and new to join in the online experience known as EverQuest.”
EverQuest The Anniversary Edition will only be available at participating retail locations and is scheduled for release on April 23, 2007, for the suggested retail price of US$19.99.
