I think this is the slowest and mostboring game ever. I can hardly play longer than 30 mins before i feel drowsy. Even after i just woke up from a nice long sleep, when i log into this game i get tired again very quick.
Walking around with my Necro trying to find something to kill then the same stuff over and over again.
Going into the city trying to find upgrades for spells or weapons , browsing the market and suddenly tired again.
I tried with coffee and tee, i tried everything but whenever i play EQ2 i must go to bed and sleep.
They should offer EQ2 in drugstores instead of Melantolin, i am sure this game will help many insomniacs....

Sorry this game isn't WoW (WoW sucks, btw).
LOL, you must of got ganked.
From the review comments you left in ratings http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setView/ratings/gameID/2/
I think you should buy EoF. If you are level 44 and commenting you can't use AA's until buying KoS I assume you have the base game. If you spend the 39.99 on EoF you get all the expansions....not having to spend the 90.00 you mentioned in your review.
Just not worth my time anymore.
Welcome to MMOs, there all like that
Just out of curiousity. Why are you playing it if you hate it so much?
Normal folks just stop playing a game they hate.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
I agree with poster. Too slow combat mechanics
Hmmm, at first I would have to agree with ecco, in thinking that the op was trying to bait a response. However, after reading what he wrote, and thinking about my own experiences, I think Tuccos is suffering from I call, 'The Big Break Feeling'. This is when you return to a game after having had a long time out. I have experienced this with a lot of games. You return to the game, and just have this indifferent feeling after playing for about a half hour or so. It's like it is hard to get back into the game (and I mean any game here, not just EQ2). So, you end up with a feeling of apathey and cannot be bothered with it.
The best thing to work around this, and what I recommend Tuccos does, is to try and 're-discover' the game. I had this 'cannot be bothered/bored' feeling, after returning to EQ2 after a long absence. I could only play for an hour or so, before getting bored and switching off the computer. Then I got the EoF expansion, and created a brand new character. It was like falling in love with the game all over again. Having started a new toon, I was able to re-learn some of the game mechanics which I had become a tad rusty with. I was able to get immersed in the world of Norrath, and am still enjoying exploring all of the new areas which this expansion has created.
So, in short, if the op ever liked this game in the first place, then it would be worthwhile in him buying the expansion, and starting afresh. That's what I did, and it has made me remember why I rated this as my favourite MMO of all time.
I suggest you just /ignore.
Look and see that every post he has made has been negative. He is either manic depressive or just likes to cause trouble. The best opinions seem to come from people who aren't pissed off at every little thing.
LOL, that's funny. Not true, but very funny. We usually clean out Labs w/ named, those are epic X 4 bosses, in about 1 hour and 6 minutes is our record. With only 3 groups. ( X 4 means you need 4 groups to beat them ) Now that EoF is out we should do Labs again, we probably beat that record easy.

100% agree sometimes games just arent for you move on and find something you find fun
Nothing worse than staying for stayings sake.

Wow, nice work! Our record is an hour and 40 mins so far, but then we have only started raiding recently.
Although back to the topic, if the OP thinks the game is slow (which it really isnt that slow) then tbh, I think thats good. I havent played at level 44 for a while, but I might go back and try it. I prefer games that take time and effort to play rather than ones you can shoot through in a week (*coughwowcough*).
So thanks to the OP, what he thought was a bad review, for a lot of people, is a great review!

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
i didnt like eq2 much, not because its a bad game, i just couldnt get into the story.
The original poster is a troll. He wants to be flamed. I'm just playing along.
I went from swg to WoW after SWG was butchered, and I just couldn't get into WoW either. I was literally falling asleep at the keyboard..
Eq2 did the same aswell, but I had in game family playing it and helping me power level the first 30 levels so it wasn't bad.. Had it not been for that, I would of probably chalked this game up as a sleeper just like WoW..
Developers have the idea and mindset of easing players into new games at early levels.. Some find it mind numbingly dull.. Others enjoy the slow pace so they can learn the game.. My biggest issue in eq2 was early navigation around the game without eq2maps... I hated having to ask people for directions.. All in all, everyones opinion will differ on this matter. It just depends on your situation and if you had friends in game helping you or not.. Some could solo through the game with no problem.. Others need help or they bore fast..
that was my main issue, being bored, or not sure if I wanted to go back into EQ2. I been playing WoW for a while but im bored of it as of lvl 62+ just not doing anything for me now so i quit. Now Im playing Vanguard which isnt too bad, growing on me, but I have a itch to go back to EQ2 with my lvl 56+ paladin but like you said, you always have this wierd indifferent feeling once you go into it. hard to get back into a game, rediscover it and have fun with it again. with my new system Im sure I could max it out now and look and play fantastic. but it all comes down to "am i willing to throw down $15 to find out if i like the game still?" I already quit WoW and have til april 1st to lvl myself up a bit more but the game in general does nothing for me.
I pretty much kicked Lineage2 to the curb not because the game itself sucks, cause the economy is so horrible and will continue to do so and is such a uphill battle to keep up finanically, that you almost need/require to dual box to get anywhere fast lol or within a efficient time frame. id go more into it, but the people who played for a good amount of time, know what I am talking about.
I think it all comes down to coming back to something famailar but what was once familar is a bit different, and you dont look at it through the same eyes. so it takes a bit of shutting down your memory and tryign to regrasp the game either by rediscovering the game through your same character, or perhaps rerolling like a fae in EOF which i think is a good approach. im still debating :P ill make my mind up soon. im pretty sure ill go back to EQ2, just a bit iffy and undecided right now. thats one of the few MMO's that SOE actually did a respectable job at.

See, it's not about just ONE aspect of the game. In all of Meta's posts I notice "powerleveling" and "leveling slowly" and "grinding" levels, and so forth. If you only play the game to get to 60 or 70 as fast as possible AND THEN play the game, then of course you're going to be let down. What I like about eq2 is that there are interesting things and fun AT EVERY LEVEL, not looking at my level bar and wondering when that magic ding is going to take me to the next level. I had one character I sorta piddled with but tried to do all the quests and I loved it. Then I joined a hardcore raiding guild that needed dps, so I rolled up a Swashy and leveled to 70 in a couple months.
So I have my 70 Paly for grouping and goofing off, I have my 70 swashy for raiding, and a few alts for playing lower levels for fun and crafting. Not everyone is going to have a raid ready toon so enjoying the quests, places (there are tons of places to go), going through an old interesting dungeon, doing instances, crafting, and hanging out with friends. There are a LOT of things to do over ALL levels. That's the beauty of EQ2 over WoW where you rush to top level so you can grind raids. It's completely rediculous to think these games are for rushing through the levels and missing most of the fun.

I had trouble falling asleep in MMO's after getting used to playing multiplayer FPS's with my clan. I need CONTENT though so MMO's kept pulling me back. I finally found the perfect thing for me. I "two-box" on one well-equipped machine with a widescreen monitor. Keeping two different classes doing what they need to be doing to keep a group alive turns EQ2 into a real action game. If you got the machine and the money for two subscriptions, try two-boxing. It's a blast. I really can't see myself playing another MMORPG without this setup in the future. It brings challenge back to the button pushing.
If that's not enough action to keep you awake....three box. Today's better systems can handle it. My brain and reflexes couldn't. I do think it would be possible with a well-thought-out interface arrangement playing identical summoning classes.
Trouble staying awake...try No-Doz.
