lol, must say that what i played of guild wars i found myself addicted, for a beta test i was shocked @ the quality, very few errors occured.
lack of trading materials was a problem for me (E/Mo) trying to find silk & drake was a no hoper, and trying to get rid of jems which should have made a few $$$/£££.
solo play got a bit boaring but in all a good well presented game, looking forward to next test or official release
I think you were way too hard on GW, I thought it was pretty darn fun! Just because you're anti-social and don't like playing online with other people... maybe MMORPGs really aren't your thing?

i think GW was a great game, i didnt get very far, but im hoping to beta it later this year.. graphically wise it ran smooth as silk on my machine, no lag... i had no problems and the game play was impressive, wasnt what i am used to, but in someways its better than the traditional system most MMORPGs use...
I thought it was a very good game. It has many good elements that other games don't have. I was a little unimpressed at the level immersion in the multiplayer missions and even the PvP, but I took a look at the preview maps, and OMG, I cant wait. How cool would it be, PvPing in the snow... man...
I guess my only complaint that I dont know they will fix, is that everything is a path. It brought me back to my Dungeon Siege days. But that would not prevent me from enjoying it, and there are some nice open pvp maps, so I am more or less ready to go... my review is...

Originally posted by zide56 What difference does it make? Are you going to go down there and make the changes for them?
Maybe you should learn to be less sarcastic in your posts, otherwise its stuff like you mentioned above that really shows you to be ignorant of other people.
As to what difference does it make, let me tell you of a few things.
1) Many of the developers and alpha testers visit the various forums and fan sites, of which this is one. They read other peoples oppinions of the game, and yes they do listen to what other people say.
2) Part of the reason for the E3 event was to generate feedback on the game. By posting utterly pointless feedback, will just result in them ignoring you. Heck even I am making the effort to find out why you didn't like the demo. Maybe you could at least pay the same courtsey to me and give me a proper reply.
3) As an alpha tester it is part of my job to find out what other people think of them game, what I think of the game, balance issues, bugs, possible future features etc etc. I let the developers know what things we or other people don't like. Not doing so means that I am not doign my job as a tester properly.
4) How do you know that reasons why you disliked the game was due to future features that are not currently part of the alpha? The answer is simple - you don't know what additional features will be in the game. You only got to see a small fraction of the complete game, and yet you go to jugde the whole thing off that? For crying out loud, it was an ALPHA demo. Other developers have never allowed such a public showing of their products in alpha state, and this alpha demo is far better than a final game's playable demo.
5) There have been many changes inside the game already due to alpha tester oppinions, suggestions and feedback, including profession names (Elementalist for example). And public oppinion has also had an impact on the game in various things. So do the right thing, and at least explain your reasons as to why you disliked the game.
His opinions are the same as that of any other TROLL. There is little point in trying to have a meaningful discussion with someone like that, nor should we put much stock in anything he has to say.
SonOfRah, this entire thread is one big joke. I do find the game boring, but I don't feel like saying why because I don't really care if the game bombs or not. Lighten up.
You, too, Kartel. If you don't like this thread, then why are you still here posting? To piss me off? You're not exactly contributing to the conversation with your snide remarks, either.
And if you think calling me a TROLL (all caps--oh my!) is going to do anything--then you are grossly mistaken. I'm a TROLL, you're a NERD. Let's all have cake.
Now he's insulting people by calling them nerds. If anything, mabey this guy will get a few people to like guild wars just since they have less in common with this troll :P I'm ashamed to be a member of the same species

LOL!!!
I thought this was going to be an actual review thread. But once I opened it up, I almost spit this water out that I am drinking.

Ah, it was just a joke. Made you laugh? Then my mission is accomplished.
I did think it was boring, though.
If I may ask, what parts did you find boring?? How do you suggest they IMPROVE those parts?
Sure is, though it's pretty crunched down there.

Can we really take seriously anyone who's opinion of the alpha was that it was boring?
It is impossible that any video game fan who tried the alpha found it boring. Impossible.
The simple fact that you got to see the transfer rates and see their streaming technology at work - that alone made trying it out worthwhile.
If anything else, that technology alone will revolutionize all future online MMORPGs (whether or not Guild Wars is successful).
Anyone with half a brain would have found the alpha demo interesting at least.
