If you are still playing this, then I ask why?
Anything you do, I certainly mean anything is better than playing this.
Is it because you have a friend in game. If so they probably only play for the same reason, to keep in touch with you. You should make a change, join another mmorpg together, there are so many better ones, just get the hell out of this jar jar binks bullshit. For crying out loud, you are like the jackass that simply will not leave, even after someone has said get the fock out. Holy shit, for goodness sakes JUST LEAVE!

If you are still playing this, then i ask why?
I am indeed in the process of playing SWG, and currently enjoying it. Why? The community, the challenges, the overall aspect of the game just appeals to me. Saying this though, at first i was extremely annoyed with what SOE had done to a brilliant game and refused to play. After messing around with the new features it slowly started growing on me... surprisingly! Theres no point complaining about it anymore, why? SOE are intent on sticking with the current SWG system, they simply are NOT going to role back to Pre-CU, which would be a complete god-send! If i was you, i'd stop clinging on to the past and move on, shit happens!
PS: Or you could always become a hardcore supporter of "The duck" (Bad topic i know bla bla) and help the amateurs out.
I was a huge fan of SWG before the first combat change. Then it all went down hill. I don't see how flipping out on here is going to push people out of the game? If they play, who cares!
Only a few thousand I would say... at best 25k to 35k real players if that.
NOT accounts.... but people that play. I dare say that might be over shooting it at well.
It's kinda sad now if you go and log in to see. Sure my server Bria has some people NOTHING like it was but there is movement.
BUT some of the servers look like you would expect..lol kinda messed up.

I subscribed for a month to witness what the so called miracle turn around of swg is, according to the fanbois there are heavy servers, BULLSHIT when i tried, and i made attempts for several days on the character create there where no heavy servers, 2 medium and the rest where light and this was peak time friday nights !
The server where my characters are is corbantis, and there is hardly any one around and the traders that have been making these new reverse engineering parts are trying to fleece 20 mill plus for there re parts.
i would be very suprised if they shift them , and the economy cannot be working well if those prices are reflective.
not that 20 mill is much to veterans who allready made silly amounts, but to the new players it is.

Ah, I disagree. When you allow people in business to be dishonest, then do not cry when all business is dishonest and also do not cry when injustices happen regularly. You have created an environment where dishonesty can be forgotten and has become an acceptable loss.
This disagreement aside, I will only attempt to effect the opinions of people who are thinking of purchasing SWG: NGE, those who play it can make their own decision.

I resubbed not too too long ago (couple months back). I mainly resubbed cuz my nephew (he is soon to be 16) was missing SWG badly and he literally begged me. Even after i warned him, he still begged me. He played one weekend and then I only saw him once after that. I thought it was because of school or something. Nope, I was wrong. It was because there wasn't anyone playing unless you went to Eisley or Restuss. Our guild of almost 150 had 3 people left. My friends list of over 200 never had more than 4 on. He set vendors up and only sold 10 items in 10 days. That was the last time he logged in.
PreNGE we had a joint business going. We sold dozens of things every day, a couple of hundred items in a week. Every weekend it seemed we would personally help outfit people who needed a well equiped ship. Those days are gone and won't be back. There just isn't enough people playing anymore to make it fun.
The lag was so bad that I had already killed a creature and my toon is still attacking it. I would turn my toon to attack something behind me and in the process I would somehow target lock on somthing else. The music in game was choppy like an old record skipping. I would attack a creature and 80% of the time it would freeze or get stuck and not be able to hit me for damage. When ever i tried to help some n00b ... he would take it personal and start lipping off. Once I came across someone grinding and he started begging me to group with him so he could put himself on follow. I asked him why? and his reply was he was bored.
My wife who loved to watch SWG (but wouldn't play) and who loved to hear my nephew and I talk about all the neat cool things we were doing, just can't understand WHY $OE and $LA would allow this to happen. She would say, "Don't they realize they could be making so much more money than they are now?"
It just doesn't matter any more, SWG is dead. It is on life support with NO brain activity whatsoever. There is alot of stuff broken and $OE just doesn't care. The community is GONE, the economy is a joke with prices 20 -300 million credits on some stuff, they are trying to bring back old features of the game and are calling it new content and doing it with out fixing stuff that is broken.
Needless to say we both cancelled .... yet again.
I still strongly suspect SOE was, and is currently attempting to drive players away into EQ2, just hoping LA pulls the plug on SWG.. Its been all this time and melee animations are still the auto attack one. The game revolves around pvp and who has the better buffs unlike pre cu where everyone had the same buffs and was able to compete against each other in pvp, where the best skilled person seemed to win.
People cried for diversity and they gave them an umpteen multitude of buffs, enhancements and stat mods.. When in the old system all the diversity we really liked or wanted to get back was the multitude of different professions, that was the main variation we wanted along with new content like, viable faction armour, new weapons.. Much needed armor fixes (AP1 weapons etc), and DOT fixes.. 1200 mind tick poisons were out of control... Why they left them like that for so long.. I really couldn't answer.. It just didn't seem like they were doing anything to fix the current system back then, and lost a lot of players to WoW...
If they would have had kassh/mustafar in game by the time WoW launched, we would not of seen any players leave.. In fact, an influx of new players most likely would have come in.. The old systems combat was actually fun.. It kept players there but the lack of meaningful loot, or new items and armor or vehicles made the game stale for a lot of people.. It's just sad they have such a huge galaxy of items, vehicles, armor, weapons, named bosses etc and we saw none of it till it was too late, and when they did deliver some of that, it was in a combat system that actually sucked pretty bad, and still does..
I can't even read the swg official forums anymore. You see a few people talk about the old days and bringing things back, then the same shills come in and run rough shot over the thread with complete bs responses. I wish I wasn't perma banned there... Basically there is a bunch of NGE elites who don't want to lose that elitism we had all earned pre nge.The tide has shifted the balance of power from us to the new players who took time to learn and pay for beta while we all quit for months on end. They don't wanna lose the game they put time and effort into just like we did, so they defend the current incarnation of that game with every ounce of free time they have. And the sad thing is their wrong on everything they claim.
For example.. One NGE elitist says the old pre cu system was bugged and not balanced but he goes on to say it could never be balanced.. Yet I look at the current system and see a much worse game with regards to balance, and a game with the same bugs since launch lol.. The old system was balanced in CU1, not the cu2 we got... And these piss-ant elitist, with a nov 2005 sign up date, is running his mouth about a game system he never played more than a month probably.. If at all...
Look at eq2 and how many classes they have there.. Something like 26 + all those crafting classes and transmuters etc.. They have a very complex class system there and surprisingly balanced very well. All we hear from these nge fanboys is the old system was too complex for the devs to manage and balance.. I call BS again... Using eq2's complex class system as a perfect example that it can be done, and by the same company no less...
I don't blame the designers or programmers for the NGE.. LA was greedy and wanted more WoW type sub numbers.. I blame sony upper management because they didn't do anything to stop the NGE.. Or weren't informed enough to know they would never steal wows players.. You can't go toe to toe with a brand new game, and game engine, using an old and out dated engine and expect to steal any customers. Especially with the rash of bugs present in all versions of swg, and the apparent lack of content in nov 2004 when wow launched..
We old pre cu players were replaced with a newer breed of swg player, just like sony planned for.. The only thing sony/ LA got wrong was the estimation of how many new players they would get and retain over time. I think we all know the current game doesn't sport the same active numbers we saw pre cu.. But the new NGE players claim they see a rise in populations.. Its only because they never saw what pre cu was.. They came on board right when the mass exodus took place, and 2 years later they see a minor influx of old vets checking out how things have progressively got worse over time... We old vets don't stick around long though... and the minor influx will subside..
I also don't expect any NGE fans to read all this.. It's much too much reading for them.. If one does reply though, I'm sure I will get a good laugh out of how they managed to mis read certain aspects of this post.. Just like every other NGE lover I've come across over the last few years..

You said you played on Naritus? I was on Naritus from day 1 of launch until NGE. Name was Y'rab Dran'ya. Who were you? Always hoping to see good friends from those days long lost.
The last month of the original game, (before i knew it was changing), I came across someone selling an exceptional pike. It had some sick damage like 500-1380 max. Also had +20 polearm speed/accuracy and +20 terrain negotiation on it. It was a pretty sick pike so I ended as a bh/pikemen with some medic.. I remember 3 hit incapping non master defender jedi with that pike but only had it for about 3 weeks then the cu hit and transformed it into a piece of junk.
I was actually in the game for about the last 5 days or so, but its just unplayable.. The game crashes about 20x an hour on me.. While other games run fine.. I put in a request for a refund but I doubt i will get it on the grounds that the swg client is unstable..
Anyways, I'm all but done with swg.. The current game, even if it was playable, is just not balanced or fun.. The games pvp is just way too dependent on buffs and GCW buffs.. AFK entertaineer buffs etc.. In the old game you could get ent buffs and doc buffs in about 15 minutes.. In the nge, you got a whole hotbar full of crystal buffs, enhancers, food etc.. plus your lucky to find an ATK entertainer to get some of their buffs..
The CU was so much better with regards to this.. We all had pretty much the same health and didn't need all this NGE crap.. /sigh

I am one of the people still playing.Why? , because there is no mmorpg out there at the moment wich can satisfy me....this one oddly enough can.Maybe it is "for old times sake" but i am enjoying it.If there comes a game out wich i like more i will switch but so far there has not been one.

I think the games subscriptions and posts above and in this forum in general, and in the soe swg forum allready answer that question of "who are you too decide" many players left fact, isnt that enough that people dislike the nge and god knows i tried to like it i just cant.

All the subscription number and people in here prove is that they made a big mistake in changing the game in regards to their profit.It says nothing about why the players who still enjoy the game should leave.

OH and the trader revamp seems to be a fleece fest back to greedy ways of before.
The changes to the game are half assed at best: for example trader expertise fine for a few professions absolutley shite for weapon smiths and go ahead tell me weapon smith is not starwars like and blasters etc are not either.
The gcw is a bottomless pit for uber, power gamers. dont even moan about pre cu jedi and fact i was one watch what happens when you nge uber boys get wasted on the new upgrades that will come like they came for us.
Its rumoured that the xbox has a starwars game online, wonder if the ps3 has it too, wouldnt it be funny if they decided to just make another nge then that would make you all just like us bitter veterans of a bygone era.
In away i hope it doesnt happen but one thing is, do not try to enforce your stupid reasons upon former players they have a voice and they have a reason, perhaps you should be gratefull they voice it may well stop the same happening to your beloved NGE!
