i just wonderin what you all think of this word. alot of people have different definitions of this word and i just want everyone to come up with an agreement of the official definition of this word.
here is my definition of the word. Noob- insulting term used for people who wont play the game right. some of you might argue that their might be no "official way" of playing a game. there are common sense and natural respect for other players. also if its in the game to make your lives easier in it it should be used. like take spamming for example. it is common courtesy not to spam so that other people can say something without bein spamed out so that noone could read what they are sayin. take guildwars for example where they made a trade channel and search engine to deal with these problems but noone uses them. i do not see why people refuse to use something to make their lives better on a game. maybe its ignorance and selfishness i do not know.
now some of you might confuse this term to be the same thing with newb. heres my definition. Newb- short for newbie, which is a new player to the game. now some of you might argue its the same thing. but most people usually use this word just to refer to someone who is just new. noob is more commonly used as an insult.
now sure noob might start off meaning a new player, but as the time goes on this word has evolved. now people overuse it and just call each other noobs just because they are gettin on their nerves or not playin the game right. this is kinda like how the "f" word has evolved. i have come up with this definition to teach everyone what this word is usually used for nowadays. this is just my opinion and everyone else might have different opinions about it. i would like to hear them.

im in silkroad right now and jus a min ago sum1 was calling me a no0b for accidently hitting the same mob. his insults are very hurtful..... i sent him to town without hesitation or scared to get penalty. i gets this situations many times.
the word no0b is overly used! so far the game that i play that spammed the word no0b much is silkroad! everything gotta end of start with no0b! no0b this! no0b that! new people these days use the word no0b as an insult! no0b is mean "beginner" or "starter" or jus sum1 that is "new" and it is used to use for humor.... like sum1 tease sum1... eww u so0 no0b! or haha ur no0b! comedy stuff kno im saying? like friendly humor teasing...
but nowadays new people use the word in a wrong way.... they use it as an insult! real insult! many time sin silkroad we have many kill-stealing situations going on but most the time its jus accidents.... u kno people are hunting close to each other and sumtimes they hit the same mob nearly or at the same time.... many people are an ass.... say like me and do0ey we hunt close to each other.... we hit the closest mobs near us.... theres a mob that are both near us.... we hit it.... at the same time.... now do0ey act like an ass and try to make himself lo0k go0d... and lo0k like the go0d guy by attacking me mentally calling me a "no0b" acusing of me kill-stealing him when the fact is we hit nearly or same time and accidently! and also nukers.... melee might hit the mob first but nukers aim and click the nuke button first than the melee but the melee hit it first.... the nuker takes a couple sec to launch their nukes.... kno im saying?

correction: ima correct myself... i said nowadays people use the word no0b in a wrong way.... well i was wrong.... theres no right or wrong way.... jus that people is using it the evil way aka the bs way.

The comic basically covers it, but for me usually:
newbie = inexperienced person new to the game
noob = stupid person. i.e. a person with low intelligence (no not like a warrior that has high STR low INT, the actual RL person being "unsmart") that fails to comprehend things, and also fails to grasp the situation of them not being smart enough. That said i use the term noob quite rarely and carefully.
While we're on it, to me carebear and ganker both are derogatory terms that i'd personally take and see as an insult and would rather not have people use as broadly as they do. Thoughts? Discuss.

Noob, it sends shivers down my spine. What is the point of the word? Its a stupid internet nerd word - only people who spend a long amount of time on the game and think they are superiour, which they are although it also shows they have no life use it.
If i'm playing a game with some kind of voice coms and someone says "noob" over it, they are also the type of person who would litrally say "lol" .. I mean if its funny, then LAUGH like a normal fucking person not just say "lol" .. If anyone calls me a "noob" i'm not going to get involved in an argument as its going to end up with me being called an "uber noob"...
For all thoes who says Noob regually ... F.U.C.K Y.O.U... learn a better word.

i hate to the gust when people call me a no0b in-game. that stupid word gets to me easily and sometimes i jus PK them for insulting me with that word. to be honest i have never use the word no0b as a weapon... as an insult to anyone before! in fact i never use the word no0b in any way!
Besides... nerds are great at math and science. I was a nerd long before the term "noob" was crafted in a tradeskill instance.

Anyway... you don't have to be 10 years old to be a geek. You simply have to be very good with computers, or bite the heads of chickens. And I find it odd that you would be so insulted over being called a noob. Is it degrading in a rather insignificant way... since you ARE talking about video games here? Maybe... but it sure as hell isn't anything CLOSE to being comparable to a racial slur. You're sort of justifying any time someone may have called you one by taking things to that extreme.

You make sense here. Carebear, ganker, noob-variations and the like are more or less putdowns but they can also describe a way of being. Really not a good way to help the communication although it can be fun at times.
I prefer calling someone a genius.
N00b = Newbie= New player, so when someone is new or I am new I use the word, n00b.
N00blet = a moron.
