Free MMORPG with lighthearted feel

I have been searching for sometime now for a free (without monthly fees, just buying cost) mmorpg that isnt all "gothic" as people say or with jsut a bit of a lighthearted feel.  A game that is based on multiplayer and that focuses on social interaction and free lance adventuring.  The game should have pretty good graphics but they dont need to be awesome.  If you have any ideas about  games that fit this discription please email me at slipsign35@hotmail.com or post to this thread.  Thanks.image

I suppose the closest thing you may be looking for is Never Winter Nights(though its not an MMO). Guild Wars also sounds similar but that is at least 6 months off. As for the "gothic" feel besides those 2 i really dont know.

Oh and as far as i know, most, if not all, MMO's out right now require monthly payments. I beleive your just not going to get any with those credentials. Guild Wars will be your best bet in about 6 months or so though.

all i can really think of is either Ragnarok (which has a monthly fee with a 15 day trial) or FairyLand (which sucked IMO... but its free atm so...)

no matter where u come from... no matter where u are now... no matter where ur going... its all about the EXP

TFO on xbox does have monthly fee, which is ridiculous for a game like that.

are u sure that TFLO has a monthyl fee because i have heard many places that say otherwise.  Where did u hear that it has a monthly fee? Did Phantasy star online have a monthly fee other than xbox fee??

its not all about the exp., its really about how much money you have on your credit card to pay these games. credit card debts are like a huge swarm of mosquitos chasing me.... ::::27::

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in his shoes. That way if he gets angry, he'll be a mile away and barefoot.

For original poster.... I think the best one you will find on the net at this time to play an MMO for free and is worth it would be PristonTale. I have played them all and I think that is the only one out there that is worth playing that doesn't cost anything. Yes it is an MMORPG. It is still considered in beta however I don't think they will be coming out with a pay version anytime soon. I don't know why, infact I think they are more ready for public than any other MMO released so far this year. LMAO!!!!

Now about the guy asking about TFLO going to cost a monthly fee. Yes, I know it doesn't state directly about there being a monthly fee. However, it is a true MMORPG. Meaning it will take servers to run the game, servers to log you in, servers to save your character, voice chat and on and on. and then to add all them highly so called skilled network technicians and administrators to make sure you have a good time. I think it will cost you a monthly fee. If not I think they would be putting it in all CAPS saying so. Something like this. UNLIKE EVERQUEST ONLINE ADVENTURES, WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE CHARGING YOU A MONTHLY FEE TO PLAY "OUR" (larger fonts on that one) MMORPG. Infact the only MMORPG I know of that doesn't charge a monthly fee I have mentioned above, however, they still claim theirs is still in beta.

If you think the average of $49.99 a year for your live service should cover TFLO also then you got to be kidding. First off that would be a very AWESOME price for a MMO. Even UO charges $12.99 a month and if you figure your cost for Xbox live service of under $4.33 a month for All live game query engine with GUI list feedback, voice chat, friends list and any game that is Live compatible (much like what GameSpyArcade provides near the same price), which PS2 can't even do. So if you think you should get universal chat and universal friends list and free content downloads and etc, Plus a MMORPG all for under 5 bucks a month that would be crazy. Comon' it is a new MMO, even the oldest one out there is more than twice that price and it is a isometric game. I notice a lot of ppl complain that so many things cost money and say it is bull crap that everyone out there always wants to make a buck off everything. Well, Tell me, where do you work. I want to go there and now, DON'T you complain when I demand to you to get me a product you have for free. And don't tell me about this crap about having to have dinner on the table for your family. My wants are more important huh? *Sarcasm*
