We dont know yet. That was one reason I thought it was a good idea that there only be good races. They could make a large amount of orcs invade, so there would be a definate enemy that would attack not just hoping there will be people to fight.
WHether they do it or not, I have not a clue. Turbine has, in the past, had such large scale battles as content. Battles in which the player base had a limited time frame in which to participate and could influence the battle. That said, there won't be any chance of "re-writing lore". If you fight for the evil side (providing they let Monster Characters participate) go into the battle knowing full well you have 0% chance of victory. Your role is to die gloriously on the blade of the good guys.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
They are doing some pretty good player events tonight. Waves of trolls, barrow wights, goblins and even bugs are invading the towns. You get three or four hundred PC's and dev controlled mobs all in a small area though and it gets kind of laggy

that sounds pretty cool actually. WoW got really boring as towns would never fall under attack =[ The scourge invasion wasn't really an invasion as more of a go over to this controlled area and grind more. I just hope they keeping doing stuff like this into release and not just for beta.
Probably my favorite part of lord of the rings were the huge battles that took place. Will there be anything like this in the game?
Well, as far as what I have seen the largest battles have been event things. For example there was a huge event before the first wipe. There was the mpvp battles that went on last week, or the week before. And of course tonight's stuff.
With that said they only had just opened up the angmar region and I never got a chance to take a look up there. places like helms deep etc aren;t even in the game yet and wont be until expansions start coming. I fully expect that there will be some huge battles but turbine hasn't really let anything slip about the expansions yet which is a good thing. They need to focus on getting the launch ready so it is a smooth experience for the players.
It was horribly laggy at some points... but I set my graphics from Ultra High to very low and suddenly everything ran fine... and strangely enough still looked 'decent'... heck probably better than Vanguard in most places minus the few well done scenes...
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
No there aren't any at the moment and I doubt there will be. Mabe some PVP stuff with a bunch of people, but I can't see anything happening like in the films. That would actualy be exciting, so they won't do that.

I miss DAoC
Yeah, its laggy alright. I was in just in Rivendell and locked up, thought it took my whole system down with it. It got better though.
