Yup, the account cancellation page for Vanguard has been bugged for a lot of people. They assume after seeing the "Thanks for cancelling" message that they really are cancelled when they really aren't. It happened to me. And apparantly SOE has known about it but hasn't done anything to fix it after 2 months.
I ended up having to email the SOE CS to get it cancelled.
OK WTF!!!!!!!! I just went to check my account from reading this post. It says "Next Billing Date: April-03, 2007 And I cancelled like 2 months ago almost....that means it's still billing..and it's gonna auto-renew on April??????????? Haven't checked my bank transactions really. It said: "Thank you for your *something*" when I cancelled.
Same thing happened to me. If your account says "Active" you're still subscribed.
When it's cancelled it will say something like "Non-renewal payment method or cancelled" as the account status.
Also you should get an email from SOE if you really cancel...otherwise it didn't work.
Contact SOE's customer service and tell them to cancel it.

I went to cancel my account but when I tried putting in the security word it told me it wasn't the correct one. The security question asked where was I born and you don't think I know that? It's not working properly.
I remembered reading here how many people had problems cancelling so I phoned them directly. I told the person at billing about what I've read here and she said there is no problem cancelling. Yeah, right.
I told her I was writing in where I was born but she said I wasn't putting in the correct answer, say what? How can the answer not be the one I put in? I think I know where I was born, no?
Anyway, I told her to delete my credit card info as I wasn't going to continue playing this bugged out game anymore. She said she took me out and I shouldn't worry about ti anymore.
We'll see when the time comes next month on the 4th.
So much anticipation, so much wanting this game to surpass expectations , to see it exceed and succeed only to see it in a constant state of stumbling along. Shame.
LoL this also happened to me but it turned out to be a good thing since I ended up playing for the extra month and now realy like the game. but I agree this is a real big deal and they need to fix it ,and refund the charge to players who dont want to play the game.
Heh heh... makes you wonder how many of their pitiful 50K subscriber base actually know that they're still subscribed. Poor Vanguard, they had such a long way to fall and they're doing it in spectacular style.
It's all part of that viral marketing campaign that Brad keeps talking about. Frankly I'm not surprised. I'm sure their cancellation system got quite a workout within the first month VG was out.
I just cancelled my account. The site says my account is cancelled, but I did not get an email confirming it.
I feel very sad that I cancelled my account. Truth be told, I played my last MMO for 3 years. I have no plans of going back to it, as I did everything I set out to do in it. I really had no expectations of Vanguard going in, but I have to say that the game is simply NOT ANY FUN.
I wish everyone who likes the game a lot of fun and a lot of success! Be safe out there!!!
Check your CC statements, seems alot of accounts that were cancelled are still being charged.

I had this same issue (where you can't cancel and had to call customer support because it says "Your account has been cancelled" and stays active). It's comforting and frightening to know it wasn't just me. Frankly I wonder how it is legal. I'd say SOE should get sued but I know that won't happen. What will happen is that SOE will continue to do this and won't face any reprocussion [sic].
What's really amazing is that I've had a variety of SOE products and NEVER had this issue. I turned my Star Wars Galaxies account on and off at a whim. It never gave me any problem. Suddenly, here comes half finished Vanguard (being nice) and the cancel button doesn't work. It's the same account system. So why doesn't it work? I mean, I hate to have to even ask, but are they doing this on purpose? It sure as hell seems like they are.

Phew...just checked mine, and it does say cancelled....
Still going to check on the 2nd April though. Don't trust SOE one little bit.
Everyone that canceled, and hasn't called SOE, needs to check their account and make sure it says canceled.
If it does not, call them. They know about it, but aren't doing anything.
They'll cancel it quick enough.
NO refunds though.
Dollars to donuts the prick bastards don't forget to ax my account when the GTC runs out.
Lol. If this is the case no wonder Brad is spouting that he has very little "churn" in this game.
SOE just won't let you cancel the game

I just tried to double check and it appears that the login part of the 'station' web site convienently isn't working...
Update: Went to the Vanguard site and got in that way, and I'm 'closed'. (whew)
