I need an MMO....

A couple of months ago I was looking for an MMO to play, and tried out many of them, but really couldn't find anything any good at all.  I have played a lot of MMO's in the past.   WoW, L2, CoH, Runescape, Eve, GW, and  FF XI.  Just to name some of the more popular ones I have played and really I have just plain gotten tired of looking for MMO's.  Most MMO's seems to have a problem with them that kind of ruins the games.  Wheter it be lag, an update, unbalancement in the game.  So I just plain stopped with MMO's for awhile until a new really good one came out, but now I want to play an MMO again, and no one really shines out.  I have considered playing WoW again, since the first time I played WoW was about the first month or two it came out and it has changed a lot since then, or maybe even EQ2 as it seems that it is shaping up nicely.  However I really can't stand to be a huge newbie in games, so I try to look out for newer games, but none seems to be coming out for awhile until WAR and Age of Conan.  I want to play a popular game because pure and simple a bigger community is just plain better.

So anyone have any suggestions on what I should play that is really good that is out or coming out soon?? I don't really want to wait awhile to play, I kind of want to play right away.  I don't really want that old of a game, but if it is really good I can easily look the other way.

You might like Lord of the Rings. It is an awesome game. It isn't for me however, as I feel like I've played it before. I'm personally looking for a fresh experience, and from the sound of your post so are you. Unfortunately, other than LotRO, the MMO world is kind of in a release slump. Everything is coming out in the summer or in Q4. So, heres some suggestions if you can wait. If you can't, and I know how hard it is to wait because my friends and I just quit WoW and we're going mad not having an MMO (we look for one everyday), I can't really help you as anything I suggest I believe will be more of the same experience that you aren't interested in. If you can wait, your MMO future is looking bright..

HUXLEY - MMO First-Person Shooter. If FPS is your thing, this might be the game for you. Art is fantastic. Game play looks exciting. 2007, no specifics.

Warhammer: AOR - Looks like WoW on steroids. Mature theme, similar art but more up-to-date, collision, PvP centric with lots of varied PvP content. You can level up and get loot through PvP. The DEV team is comprised of some of the most inspiringly excited people that I have ever seen talking about their MMO. Take over opposing cities, classes look excellent, and races are varied. The combat system might be a bit on the normal side, but this could change by release. I'll definitely be playing this one when it hits, but it is the furthest away. Q4.

Age of Conan- DX10 art means this game will look amazing. The combat system is active, if you want to swing at someones feet you can, want to chop at their neck - do it, think now is a good time to duck and roll out of the way - follow your instincts. Looks to be the closest to console style action games as we're gonna get this year. Speaking of console, coming out for the 360. Looks awesome. I will be trying this one out, but it comes out about the same time as Warhammer, so I'll be choosing between the two. More interested in war, though this battle system appeals to me WAAAAY more. October.

Tabula Rasa - The one I know the least about. Everyone seems to be excited about it. Why? Because its sci-fi. This is SWG NGE style without the shit company known as SOE behind the helms of the sci-fi action. NGE style means you have a targeting reticle you use to aim your weapons at the baddies. (I might get flamed for comparing it to SWG because everyone hates the NGE, but I mainly did it to 1) get a knock at SOE  2) tell you about the Targeting Reticle.) Looks pretty cool, especially if you are bored of the Fantasy stuff out there. No listed release.

Gods and Heroes - Looks to be big. I know nothing about it. Sorry, I do know from some of my friends comments that you should probably investigate it, so thats why I put it on the list. Q2

Pirates of the Burning Sea - Don't know alot, Pirates arent my thing even though I think they are cool. Pilot your own ship, Swashbuckling adventure? Like pirates? Then check this out. June release.

The Chonicles of Spellborn - This is my next MMO. Period. NGE targeting reticle style. Maintain reticle on target to cast a spell. Swing a sword at your target, if the recticle is towards their feet you attack their feet, want a crit by getting a headshot - aim at their head. Collision detection on during battle. Tank can step in front of a teammate at the last second and take that fire blast for them or that sword swing. 3 archetypes: Warrior, Mage, Rogue. Each of those split into 3 specific classes at a certain level. Your characters clothing and appearance is chosen at creation (get to change later if you want) as well as weapons and armor. It is all superficial. Want a Plate wearing Great Axe wielding caster? - You got it. You get items that don't appear on your character (particle effects and such sometimes though) that help increase your stats (think materia from Final Fantasy 7 but for stats).. If you get hurt and die alot, you run slower and do less damage and other penalties. You don't get hurt or die and you run faster and do more damage and such.

Create your own Legendary weapons! There are 2 realities. A Persistant world that never changes (the past world) and the current world which will evolve with the servers (compare SWG on launch day and SWG with all the player cities and quest evolutions. You can go back to the original world and even effect the current day worlds evolution by doing so). Skill based game. There are levels though. Examples of the skill based stuff is that the class that is the Best tank can do good healing with the right skills and sacrifice of some tanking ability? The Rune Mage is the big damage magic class but it is best known of the forums as the class that can melee with the right set of skills. You get a skill list and choose which ones you want to be able to use in combat. This game is low on the radar for MMOs, but I pretty much Love everything about it (except the small group size that really doesn't seem to matter because you can easily team up in increments of 4). I think this one is definitely worth a look. There is so much more to go into (guild housing, ancestor quests, etc) but I don't have the time. Check it out. I bet you will love it. Big plus on the release, Summer release but Open beta is slated for April.

    Hope that helps.   :P

PS. Phantasy Star Universe is out. It is not an MMORPG, it is a MORPG (took out the massively). There are bunch of people to play with, but you aren't in the same giant world when playing. The battle areas are for you and your group alone. This is an action packed game, console action style controls. Best to play with a gamepad on the PC (get the 360 version if you have one for Voice chat and a bigger community). And while I may get flamed for it, there is NO DEPTH to this game. Want to get on and actively destroy wave after wave of monsters in a party? This game is for you. Want to still be finding new stuff to do in the game after 2-3 months? Stay away. I will recommend it as an in-between MMORPG-type game untill you wait for another game (like Chronicles of Spellborn), Pretty sure you won't be bored with it if you just play it till Summer, unless you don't like chilling with people online.
