its about 1/6th of the entire middle-earth map, so no gondor, rohan, isengard, mordor or the eastern parts of the map.

    Compared to EQ2, propably around EQ2 pre-expansions.

Taken the size of LOTRO (lets say X) and comparing it to the size of EQII, which has been out two years and three expansions (lets call it Y), you'll find that this equation will help you understand the size of worlds in comparison...

    X/2 * Y+(3X)

    OR

Y=Who the hell knows the size comparison of the two game worlds???

ok, sarcasm off.  What are you trying to compare?  A world that is three expansions and two years older to a world that is a month away from release?  If so, then EQ2 wins.  Its bigger.  Its now far bigger.  Are you caring more about content??  LOTRO has tons.

Most likely, LoTRO will expand within a year or so, possibly even patches will expand the territory.  I doubt tat size will remain static.

Turbine stated that they plan on about 5 expansions.

They have plenty of room to expand even before they get to Rohan/Gondor.

If you run from one end to the other (bypassing North Downs), it would take about an hour give or take. The areas are mainly west-east because it is covering the areas in the Fellowship of the Ring. Later expansions will take us south. Moria and Lothlórien will be added later for sure. Enough for plenty of room for years to come.
