dark ive been playing for about as long as you....it used to be fun but then they made everything mems the only thing you can do is walk around and look at all the stupid mems i was a mem for a month and couldnt stand it and i quit playing i only get on about once or twice a month to say hey to friends and thats about it the game just gets boring once you can kill everything except demons......

I played "at my own pace" with barely any leveling for 2 1/2 years, and I still got bored of it. There are reasons other than constant grinding to get to the top that people hate RS, mainly because of all the clicking. All of it is just "click, click, click, click, click, click..." either way. When you constantly grind to get to the top, you constantly click. When you play Pest Control, you constantly click. And when you do everything at your own pace, you constantly click.
And that last "sentence" actually has some truth to it. RS has F'ed the world.

heres a few reasons why i think it is crap, this isnt another rant about it because i have played for about 2 and a half years on it so i know what im talking about. at the start of it i thought it was a fun game and all of my mates play it. the free version is absolute crap which i played on for about a year, the graphics are shoddy but its the best graphics you can get on java without it being very slow and laggy, then you become a member which is pretty good, but you start to become addicted to it and play it for hours without realising, and btw if your account is below about level 80 there isnt much to do without getting abuse form other players. then it seems that the only thing your mates talk about it rs and so do you. about a year or so on, if your account hasnt already been hacked, you start realising that all those hours and hours of leveling up which i feel is a bad point about the game, probably the worst, is that its too time consuming. then you realise after all the years you spent on it. it wasnt fun, it was just work, and you end up forcing yourself to train pointlessly. and the game loses the point if being fun. this is the pitfall for everyone who plays it. now that i quit i feel alot better than before, and occupy myself with other things i went without in those 2 years. so to those who dont know what rs is and are looking at this dont fall into the addictive pit that many have fell in.
I hear ya man. I had the exact same problem with Maplestory. I forced myself to train and train and train, and when i finally got to level 70, I realised that i had wasted all that time for just some stupid little pixel attack animations that werent even much fun.
There goes 8 months of my life . For all those who havnt yet gotten addicted to a horrible grind game like MS - DONT!!!!

True true, sooo true . Thats why ive decided to switch to GuildWars! . The level limit is 20 so once i get there i wont be able to force myself to keep on leveling (of course that is unless i make more characters). I reccomend GuildWars to all RS players. They will be sure to love it - it is an excellent game - crisp graphics, excellent gameplay, friendly community, and theres no monthly fee (although you do have to purchase the game). I just hope i dont get too addicted to it xD.

I agree with you. Runescape is a fun game and all, but the leveling is just too time consuming and boring. Unfortunately, MMORPG's are limited to pretty much just leveling
Okay runescape is one of the worst games I have ever played because JaGex cares more about their money than the players, the swift switch riots is a good example, it took forever to convince JaGex to allow 3rd party clients which made game play alot easier of course some of them would hack you swift switch wouldnt. They wanted players to see the ads on the site so they get more money, I heard they make over 20milion dollars a year on their ads but only like 7.5 million dollars a year from members. They don't seem to give a fuck about the player without some mayor riots that will have to force them to fix them becasue sooner or later someone will definately sue them big time.
And I swear the mods, the members that post on forums(most of them), the clans, RSB Gazzete, and worst of all JaGex is mentally retarted. I once saw a thread with a title "which JaGex mod will conquer Runescape?" which was complaining about mods and the JaGex mods thought it was a joke and were acting like little kids saying stuff like "Im going to be king of the gnomes and conquer runescape! I will give a cookie to all my supporters" and they complain about cussing and say it is immature...And they act like little kids...which you think is more immature? This applies to most of the community that posts on the forums too especially on the clans forum, suggestions forum, and comment forums(not sure what name is I forget sicne I never look at). The comment forums ahs the worst kids. the suggestions forum are mild with a decent bit of nerds. and the Clan forums are the worst which are filled with jackasses and filthy greedy political nerds that all they do is bump their clan thread all day. The best example of this is the clan called death shredders with their leader Jaredspurr who all he does is bump his clan thread all day and look through forums to tattle tale on people especially on GREAT joke threads and on the rants forum, he reported me alot because my friends clan warred him once( I was in it and at the war) and it was RSB ranked war where there was a ref from RSB and all and we beat them in less than 5 minutes and jarespurr complained and all that we cheated and even kissed RSB's ass until they decide they won because we cheated(which we didn't) and for accidentally killing the ref...which is why you have a back up ref...god their jackasses, they forgot that ice barrage HITS EVERYONE including their famous RSB ref's. And yea RSB is the worst even if its not a clan all they do is write news articles about up and coming clans and have tournament wars every once in a while and treat the clans really badly that they spread their mental disease around. If your gonig to pay for membership in runescape(Which I think is a scam) and are gonig to get involved in a clan make sure not to post on forums often and try to keep your clan away from RSB even if its the best clan out there and recieves loads of invitations and suggetions from RSB reporters to join RSB and make your clan famous and such.
My point is runescape, and JaGex are filled with dickheads and I suggest you do not fall for this scam, I spent over 150 bucks getting my lvl 92 account with 99 wc and 1392 total lvl and it got hacked and I cant recover because fucking JaGex's customer support is the worst of any game. I swear it is a scam...even bigger than a stupid scam such as getting scammed out of your guthans spear with a leaf bladed spear.
Oh and I forgot to mention the "stories" forum and the "Roleplaying" forums are bad too...the roleplaying ones is the one filled with the most nerds but at least they aren't as greedy and political such as the ones found on RSB. And the people in Runescape overuse the word noob I swear...Every 1 out of 5 sentences has the word noob in it.

I found this to be a very thorough and complete "why i think rs sucks" post. I also found it to have a striking resemblance to my experience with it, even down to the 2 1/2 years.

No i;m not adictive, I'm not a member, I DO have a full list, but besides that I don't see why Those addicted makes the game suck. Yea, it sometimes lags, but that's fine with me. At least I don't have to download it like most others. And if youare tired of using codes to color you words, go to www.maidmarian.com/Shewood.htm. This one lags too, but is so much batter for a quick round of butt-whipping. Crack open a can of WhoopAss and dish out some major pain. Not too many play it, so you dont have to worry about crowds. the maximum in a room is 25 people. your person can be a girl, guy, knight, or skeleton, with block,red, green, and blue armor colors to choose from. you can even dance by holding the up and down arrows at the same time. Overall, pretty good. Just realize al the character info is saved to YOUR computer, not the server. don't try to log in as your guy on somebody else's computer. oh yes, you can change your name whenever you want and still be the same guy. Have fun yall.

Well, I played this game for a whole 3 years and I don't know why. Reasons why I played it at first:
1. It was my first mmorpg, so i thought i'd try it out.
2. All the reports I saw looked good on it.
I realize how dumb i was!!!!
It was very boring, after 2 years it was very bad, I would get frustrated with not being able to make money and not being able to lvl quickly.

If i were you, and your new to mmorpg's, then i would say try this one, but don't get too addicted. On the other hand, if your not new to mmo's and you have played loads: STUFF THIS GAME.

Since then they havn't released figures, but back then only 50k people would play at one time, now, 300k play at one time, on over 100 servers.
Now runescape may be a game for 'kids', but jagex know that it makes money, Runescape has more active Accounts created than WoW, however actual members account vary from 3-6million. (Jagex interview CJB)
Runescape may not be a game for you, but that doesnt give you the right to presume everyone hates it, because you have no FACTS to back it up.
Just adding to my other post, this game is for 13+ years olds. However, it feels like it's a 8 year old game cus the most insulting comment you can call someone is "noob". For a 13+ it's pretty lame. ( I played for 3 years)

Then you make your way to any level cap in any "decent" MMO
