  As of 1800est Turbine has already given away 1/3 of it's 1M open beta slots through the worldtour link. US users can also get access through Gamespot.
  Gamespot ranks LOTRO as #3 out of 7800 PC games and #12 out of 36,800 all games (PC & console.)

  earlier the Turbine accounts site was HEAVILY congested, even claiming log-in/password input was incorrect, then coping out claiming too many log-in attempts... Beter get those accounts set up, because over the next three days it will only get worse !

  Midway LOTRO open beta Activation

  Once you have your key from PC Gamer or GameSpot, you will need to activate it to get access to the game. Visit and enter your key into the box on the home page then follow the prompts to complete activation.

  Step 2

  To get started please download and run the LOTRO Downloader. When prompted by your browser, choose to RUN the downloaded program. When run, the Downloader will automaticallly transfer the full LOTRO installation package to your computer.

  If you have any problems with any part of this download process please visit the forums for assistance. (You will need to use the forum account you created at myaccount.turbine.com to access this site.)

  
  For faster transfer speeds one can use BitTorrent to download the client from http://download.turbine.com/lotro/torrents/gmc_03192007/full-cd.torrent.

  Pre-order customers can start playing on March 30th. Everyone else can start playing April 6th.

  Only up to 420k open beta (ob) keys given away as of 730 est today ... likely they will all be gone this weekend and the ob starts 6 April. Retail is 24 April. And only about 140k people have registered at Turbine as actual ob testers so far.
