Everyone, just get over it! This is NOT a PvP game.



Its a PvE game with a PvP mini-game thrown in to appease a segment of the population ( like a 4 star restaurant having a $20.00 hamburger on the menu for the kids ).

 

PvP'er: Stay away, this ain't the game for you.

 

Those of you that keep trying to convince PvP'ers to play LOTRO because of the PvMP, STOP IT! They will be disappointed.

 

LOTRO is story driven quest based PvE game.

    no shit. They have basically always stated that.  Any decent person who could find their way to this site and even more, your post could  just as easily  google the lotro website and gather that kind of information.

    From reading all the mindless tripe on these endless 4 and 5 page threads you'd never know it. 

    You should should do some research yourself, before you mouth off. There are endless trash talking flame wars in here pissing and moaning about how bad PvP in LOTRO is.

    But.. I am a pvp'er, and I was loving it. soooo.. whatever are you talking about?

    Your fooling yourself if you think your wee crusade to keep people away is going to work.  If they want to they will try it and see for themselves.. and when gamers start asking for more it will come.

    Open beta will be no pvp, but when May hits there will be plenty.

    Why are you so hot to put a stop to the PvP anyway?  Get over your stereotypes, there are cool pvp'ers and pve'ers, and vice versa.

    NO WAY!!! Omg I would have never guessed LOTRO was a pvE game! Thank you for saving my hard earned dollar because I only play games that have something more than instanced pvp!

    Seriously though, nobody is trying to convice pvpers to buy the game. I think 600k preorders showed that they do not need help advertising.

    If you want to improve your post count even more go to the WoW forum and make a new post telling people of t he amazing subscriber numbers the game has which is the de facto standard in judging a games quality.

    Mindless tripe is making a big deal over nothing.  The game sports both PvE and PvP.  Simple. 

    Read away.  I played it and decided for myself.  Your yammering isn't going to make me forget the fun I had with even the small bit of PvP I got into.

    How about we say that the PvP in LotRO is for 'Casual' PvP players.  As a casual player, I don't really like the 'Hardcore' ShadowBane / EVE / Classic UO style of FFA PvP.

    But, I am really looking forward to LotRO PvP.   Just cannot wait to take my PvP monster and charge into a group of Free Peoples *knowing* that it is my fate to die.

    If only I can take one of them with me. . .

    I think it is the PERFECT solution to PvP balance issues, ganking issues, and such.

    EvE is hardly a shining example of a hardcore PvP game. There is too much "downtime" required to maintain it.

    Basically what he was saying is "Since I can not be level 50 and gank you at 15, this is not pvp."

    "Pvp must require ganking".

    "Even the monster is controlled by another PLAYER and I am a PLAYER and we VS each other, this game is not for people who would enjoy PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER"

    "While there is some (but very little) precedent for PvP in the lore, it doesn't fit into Tolkien's world in the usual way that PvP fits into MMORPG's. In light of this, the development team has designed a PvP alternative - monster play - to satisfy those who enjoy competitive play, while preventing scenarios such as Elves "ganking" Hobbits in the Shire. The current PvP systems included in LOTRO are sparring and monster play (PvMP). "

    Actually, I rate any PvP environment where you can be killed by a player anywhere, anytime, and lose all your stuff, to be 'Hardcore'.  Do not know how much more Hardcore you could get.

    It's a Player vs Monster Player..  It still is a PvP game.. just different then most but it's true to the LOTR story line..



    Once you level your toon to 10,  you can pick a level 50 monster to go play and kill other lvl 50 players in one region of the game. check out  lotro-wiki.com for the list of monster classes.



    So PVP is limited to one zone and like most games you can't kill ppl in  your faction, and for LOTRO there's only one faction, maybe more will be added in expansions.

    Never played EvE, but this statement got me wondering, if you lose everything then

    how would you be able to keep playing??? you would start over from scratch??? Sounds

    pretty tough.....

    You face the wiliness and unpredictability of PC's, and  the PvP does not contradict the lore and feel of the IP. Brilliant!

    From my experience, whether creep (monster player) or freep (one of the free peoples), don't go off by youreself.  On a side note, from the data I gathered while participating in PvMP, Orcs and Wargs prefer Elf meat over Dwarf meat 10:1 as Dwarf meat tends to be tough, a bit chewey and rather stringy.   Weavers seem to be preocupied with hobbit flesh.  I almost forgot to mention, regardless of freep race, Minstrels are for some reason considered to be a delicacy.

    The rat folk (as we creeps like to call Hobbits) make nice little snacks for spiders. Wrap them in a web, save them for later--like eating a candy bar really with the nuget center.
