Total Number of Global MMO Users - Poll!

CydoneCydone Member Posts: 171

I have been trying to figure out how many people are using virtual or synthetic worlds, including sorts like Second Life, Guild Wars, Silk Road etc

Im not talking active paying subscriptions, im talking active global number of people using or playing every MMO out there, again including social mods, muds, worlds and what have you.

Please consider only Persistant 100+ user worlds. Not FPS' and Battlenet kinds.. Im talking WORLDS :)

I think there was a number floating around at one point that some 40million people were playing on battlenet.  So if you include the free to play games like that and hte pay to play games I would guess its closer to 100 million then it is to 10 million people world wide.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Well, if WoW has 8 million and the two Lineage games at least have 4 million, then we have 12 million in only two games. and there must be around 100 MMOs out there by now, or close.

I would say around 40 million.  There are atleast 26 million in Korea because a few of there games report 26 million accounts, and in Korea you can only make 1 account per person due to the KSSN thing when signing up.

    MMORPG.com:

Tell us about Scions of Fate’s success in Asia. How well do you think the game will translate over to the rest of the world?

    Scions of Fate:

Scions of Fate did REALLY well in Asia. We had over 70 million users with concurrent users breaking over 600,000. In Korea, it received the Presidential award for being the best MMORPG of that year, and it’s STILL going strong as we speak.

    And that's 1 game.
