I'm just about to start playing L2 after a long time with WoW. And as you all know, WoW have many many players but the world arent as big as the one in L2, wich means you see and can party with more players.
My biggest concern about L2 is about the amount of players on the servers. Cause i really want a populated one that you're not feel alone and don't see a singel soul for hours (if that's possible :S) Anyone know wich server that got the most players? Newest server? Server with nices players? A one with not so much players using bots? I dunno, got any tip on what to pick? Im kinda lost.
Any site that got track on the servers and how the population is would be nice.
Thanks.

franz(newest),teon and bartz are the biggest... teon and franz are euro servers what means different times on sieges and stuff
Hindemith seems friendly, but I've only been playing for a week. It's often listed with a Normal population level at the times when I play. I picked it becuase of advice on this board and because it had a good ping time for me. Might be good to check the official forums. They have sticky threads about the servers' personalities.
Be wary of forums that show too much trash talk and trivial bulls#t or personal attacks on other players. Now, some of this may be forum server related, not sure, but if I were choosing another server, it's what I would do.
Try and see if you can determine who the most powerful clans are. What type of clans are they? Which castles do they own? What's the current tax rate? What are the main issues of that server?
Hope this helps...
Good luck...

You will not find any of the L2 servers populated to the degree which you are expecting.
You must understand the fundamental fact of all MMO's, the playerbase will be divided on a levelling curve. This translates to a relatively small area initially which rapidly expands to a lot of areas which support XP levelling and which only converge towards the end game in much the same way as when you begin. Many newbie areas are effectively deserted even tho the server may have a thriving population. This is one of the hardships faced by many new players on MMOs which have been around for a while. The older the game the greater the dispersion.
I would hazzard a guess that the average player level amongst the L2 servers is somewhere around level 60-65, given the amount of discussion there is WRT A grade. If you do some research on the relative level areas around this will give you a good indicator where to find players. As a rule of thumb Giran, Aden, Goddard, Hunter's Village are the predominant population area's on Kain, with HV being the current unofficial "pick up group" village to hang out at if you're LFP due to the high concentration of high level Nec's and Cats in the vicinity.
In addition, the nature of the game does not predispose itself to pick up groups where ppl can sit down to a good night of XP, chat and gob off about this or that, since you could be potentially chatting to your foe or be forced into PvP as a result of the allegiances of one of your group members. Even if you're not directly killed, the sudden death of 1, 2 or more of your party members in the middle of an intense battle can mean the difference between some downtime to rebuff and an outright wipe out.
Whilst there was an era for pick up groups on Kain it was always problematic because inviting clanned members into your group pseudo dragged you into clan wars. Or finding that your regular pick up "groupies" were now in a hostile clan... Those were just political issues. Other issues included ppl who refused to PvP and would not help protect rooms or areas from griefers, PK's or farmers, often resulting in the further deaths of party members and further disruption to the game.
From the earliest days I remember well the massacres in Dragon Valley Caves as feuding clans steamrolled the corridors killing everything in their path. The same occurred towards the end of C2 and throughout C3 in the Tower Of Insolence.
This is the main reason that the "pickup game" so well known in EQ1 and perhaps EQ2 or WoW became unworkable in L2. I'm sure a lot of ppl quit as a result, whilst others relegated themselves into multiboxing growing more antisocial as the months rolled on.
Even now pick up groups, if you can get one, tend to form around either unclanned individuals or groupping those clans which they know to be "safe" as far as mainstream politics are concerned.
I hope that this gives you a better indication of the game, and as I suggested on other posts steers you towards looking to align yourself with a worthwhile clan from the outset.

Hello and welcome to L2,
Here's a quick pick to keep you busy for a few... > Official Forums Fansite Links.
If you are brave enough to set foot on Kain here are two clans, who's clan leaders I've know since Prelude, and highly recommend for new players.
