Was really looking forward to a substitute for Planetside. They shouldn't replace good gameplay with dreamy graphics. Hell, if there is any choppiness to it at all because of the graphics, it will fail. Looking at the screenshots makes me think that it will be a very hefty game.. requiring a very nice system. So I won't be getting my hopes up until I play it.

I believe VG uses a graphically advanced version of the unreal 2 engine.
It does. The most commonly known games featuring Unreal 3.0 are Gears of War (xbox360) and Rainbow Six: Vegas (PC, xbox360 and PS3 eventually). There are a few more scheduled for summer release on PC and 360 not including the next Unreal itself.
Most of you who are wondering how this is going to work are lucky I stumbled over this little forum:
Here is how it's going to work (I only know this from reading more into the game then most and reading something straight from the designers themself)
1. Battlezones are instanced areas that can hold up to 240 players total (120 from each side whether the fight is going on between to forces) They did say that you are working on making it so that even one side can have the 239 and the other with 1, so the fights might not always be even.
2. Battlezones are made up of only one area and they do not instance over top of each other and to get into one you have to either wait or walk paths around the location to get to another area until either players are killed and respawn elsewhere or until someone leaves and you are able to enter.
This game is more than just large -scale combat. You need to gain levels, purchase new weapons, gears, etc so don't expect just huge warfare.
exactley, its probly going to be like planet side.. areas where everybody fights in 1 area and other areas just for ur faction/alliance so u can buy new gear ect.
being a long time fan of planetside i wet my pants when i first heard about this game last year, obviously waiting for an updated open world progressive mmofps with the rp elements. then my heart broke when i heard they were putting in "instanced battle areas"..
on further thought though, planetside didnt have quests out in the world, so there was never any worry about the nme factions griefing you on whatever your quest objectives may have been , or as any1 who has played a pvp mmorpg knows, that feeling of constantly panning the camera around waiting for a pk.
so now i have mixed feelings, i guess only time will tell how appealing its going to be to the people out there like me and the OP who are craving massive "open free" world combat.

No, but huge warfare should be part of its appeal. That's what brought in a lot of people to Planetside, after all. You really feel like you're part of something big.
It already seems like it will need a frickin' NASA computer to run, and if they keep things in small-ish scales because of that, then it's just a glorified version of UT.
ok if you go to Webzens Website and take a look it says:
LARGE-SCALE BATTLES.
Huxley goes past traditional death match FPS gameplay by challenging players to adapt to new forms of combat to protect the interests of the camp. Servers will be solely dedicated to accommodate millions of users engaged in fast paced, large-scale combat. Players will require strategy and cooperation to achieve victory. Extensive multiplayer battle modes are available each with a variety of unique fighting techniques and special characteristics.
so obviously we really dont know how many players there will be.

Different number of people per side to allow specialization in other areas.
Lol you guys are all wrong they said its 100vs100
There have been different answers from the developers over the course of it's development.
Definitely above the 100 player limit at this point. That might just be the Battlezones and not the P2P areas.

Wrong.

Unreal Tournamnet 3, the flagship Unreal 3 has a 64 player capability.
I expect this game to be predominantly instanced.
On the otherhand I think Vanguard is using the Unreal 3 engine too, so who knows.

I wouldn't know what planet side would be like because never played it

It sounds like BF2... looking way better tho... but pay month for that kind? No thanks.
This one would be cool if it had same kind of world like Planetside. Planetside 2 with this look, oh boy!
RF Online is a RvR mmo with xp and updates etc... and still have too small areas to fight in and that game was not a great one and still going down.
It's sound like this one might fail at same thing. Mmo games need large areas. It becomes more real. More fun.
