SWG graphics card requirments

SporkSpork Member Posts: 2

hey, Im horrible at graphics card stuff.  I have a RADEON IGP 345M.

Also, I only have about 3 months of time to play a game.  Its my summer so Im looking for something to take up my free time before I head into the Marines.  Will SWG be any rewarding for just three months of play (as in will I enjoy playing) and if not cane someone PLEASE recomend a game to take up some free time!

AS far as i know thats a laptop graphics card.If it is forget about SWG.Truth be told most laptops perform much worse in a mmorpg(and  most games) then a desktop.

As it is a desktop  would need at least 512RAM, a geforce4ti and 1ghz processor to be able to play SWG to a comfortable enough degree and you WILL lag in a crowded town with those specs.

So if it is a laptop you got there forget about SWG.

thanks, it is a laptop but its a 2.66 ghz Pentium 4, 512 ram one.  that makes no difference?

Yeah huge chance you will lag badly and crash a lot.Might not even run but would likely run just be a menace to play.Even the alienware laptops have been troublesome for SWG.

I suggest you play a older mmorpg like DAoC or EQ.Or try CoH since i know many people running it on low specs DESKTOPS with no trouble.

Just because you have a laptop doesn't necessarily mean it won't run.  My buddy plays SWG on a Toshiba Laptop 2.2 GHZ, 768MB RAM and a GF4 460(obviously the mobile version of the 4600) and he plays over a wireless internet connection and gets very acceptable ping times.  He's been playing it for about a year now.

I'm not sure on the specs for that vid card but I know the rest of your system should be plenty, although my friend did say he had better results when he upgraded to 768MB RAM from 512MB.

I'd figure you might want to check the web for specs on that vid card to know for sure.

Erm never said he would not be able to play just that performance would not be very good. Also even say your friend's Gcard might have similar artitecture of a ti4600 it would not as good as one because it been heavily tuned down due to heating issues. So in a sense it is a ti4600 thats been tuned down.So just saying yeah it probably will run but not very well.

I actually managed to play SWG on a 512MB XP2400 laptop with a mobile radeon IGP (not a 9700 or anything near as good), and as long as i kept graphic detail to minimum and obv ran at lowest rez it played fine, was great fun on the train anyway :)

My normal machine has a 9800 in it and SWG still churns along in some areas with flora + detail on full :((

Currently Playing : EQ2 of course

I have a Geforce 4 MX 440, the red headed step child of Nvidia and SWG plays just fine.  I get an average fps of 50-60.  Not the best but good enough.  My graphics are still pretty decent but I have to set everything to low.  Only time I lag is in Corant or any other bustling city on Corelia.  Any other planet is fine.  But I do agree with the RAM though.

If you want to fix the problem with lag in really crowded areas like cities, upgrade to 1GB of ram, that fixed a lot of the lag problems for a lot of SWG players.

Your requirements seem fine, save for your vid card (Which will most likely cause some lag)  If you are not a hardcore power-gamer, a 3 month time frame should be find for you.

Strange ran full setting on my athlon 2600+,1gb,R9800pro with zero problems even in a crowded town. But glad to hear it works fine on a laptop since i have heard previous nightmares about  laptops and mmorpgs.
