Can i use my same character through all expansions?

dexta666dexta666 Member Posts: 5

if i have a character in Prophecies, later on when i buy other expansions, can i take my character across to those areas and can i move between worlds so to speak? say, do some quests in Nightfall and then go back to Prophecies and do some quests with friends with new weapons from Nightfall and a fighting pet from Factions?

is this possible?

It is possible, but you must link the new game to your current account for that to work.

All you have to do is set your current account as the account you activate the expansion under.  Then you can do as you please.  Since you have Prophecies, once you get say, Nightfall, you will be able to do a quick quest in Lions Gate for access to Kamaden in NF.  Or you can start a new character on the same account in NF.  Same goes for Factions.

Note that as a level 20, you can do the entire NF or Factions campaigns, but I'm not sure how much fun the lower level content would be for a level 20.  Note that in NF though, the majority of the content is post-20 stuff.

No you cannot. All Guild Wars campaign's are stand-alone games. This means they do not require anything but an original CD code. You can travel with your characters through all campaigns if you have purchased them. Anet's next campaign, GWEN, will be their first expansion.

dont get him/her confused.. hes talking about all 3 campaigns wich are also expansions :p

And yes you can, although  you wont start all the campaign's from the start ( you ll catch the storyline  though). Also most of the heros are on nightfall ( 1 porphecies and 1 factions) .

Like in Factions, if you make a character (in factions) you start out on Shing Jea island. However, if you move from  Nightfall to Factions you will start on the mainland.

As a note, you can move to Shing Jea but the game even says, "You won't find anything on newb-island."

Another example is with Prophecies, a Nightfall or Factions character cannot go to Pre-Searin.

    YES U CAN

ofcorse ... stand alone means u can play any without having the others , but of corse you can USE THE SAME CHARACTER THROUGH ALL EXPANSIONS ...

i have 7 characters , for about 3500 hours in game , 3000 of those where with my first char . made in 13 of may 2005 , and still its what i play most of the time , and the only char that have made almost everything in all chapters , i dont have time to play 7 characters in the 3 chapters.

Apparently you two don't know the difference between a Stand-Alone game and a Expansion. Feel free to read the posted links.

Anet havn't released a single Guild Wars expansion yet. GWEN will be their first one.

And maybe if you'd take a second to think instead of being nit picky, you'd realize that most players that are new to the game consider Factions and Nightfall to be expansions, not the linkable stand alone games that they are. I gave this person the benefit of the doubt with my original answer, and you later posted something that was seemingly contradictory and difficult to read. That isn't helpful, that's just annoying. If you wish to correct someone about what the games actually are, then please do so without giving them contradictory information and confusing them.

inst it obvius he was asking about all chapters ?

I'm explaining to the newcommers that the Guild Wars campaigns arn't expansions. It's the most common mistake. I'm not threatening anyone or force to beleive what I say, I'm only explaining.

We, or I, understand what you meant but the correction and the answer  were given in the same breath.

Actually, I just re-read your post and it was really confusing you, pretty much said:

"No, you cannot take your character through the expansions but you can take them through the campaigns."

If he didn't know the difference in the first place, how is he going to catch that from your post?

Furthermore, you can take your characters through to the expansion (GWEN) but not through to GW2.

In conclusion, you fail. lol j/k (sort of)

    To correct everyone...

Guild Wars Prophecies - The First 'Chapter' (the original)

Guild Wars Factions - The Second 'Chapter'

Guild Wars Nightfall - The Thirc 'Chapter'

A.Net call them chapters, because they can be bought, and played as a stand alone game, HOWEVER If you have a previous account, you can add one to that account, and it expands the playability of the other chapter, allowing you to use items from either/all chapter(s), and yes, you can take your characters from one to the other..

To get from Prophecies to Factions or NightFall, you need to talk to the guy by the boat in Lions Arch..

To get from Factions to Prophecies or NightFall, You need to talk to the guy on the main island at the dock...

To get from NightFall to Prophecies or Factions, Again, talk to the guy on the dock...

You will have to do the quest for each character you have....
