It was a great game but the "best" title is a little subjective. FFVII let every character use all materia, groups were at max 3 people, and most bosses could be solod except for weapon bosses. That being said everyone would play alone because they would not want everyone else taking all the materia /armor/weapon drops.
I personnaly love FF7, but i think Square Enix should make a new FF game that stands alone in the same way that FFX! did.
Id love to see the direction they would takea new MMO in, at least i hope the rid the game if its interface as i find it very outdated. Then again they can offer 2 interfaces one for consoles one for PC users (im not a fan of gamepads when using a PC).
Id like the idea of owning an airship...
One thing this franshise can do that no other can is the classes its coined for itself. Granted many of the classes are inspired by the same ol same ol approach of other MMOs but i love blue mages, red mages, time mages (remember them?). Summons in FF games is what made me go sumoner for every MMO that offered the option to summon ANYTHING!!!
The point is that theres a lot of FF lore to work with and i really think that constraining an MMO baed on an alredy created FF game would somewhat ruin it. I rather have the dev team start with something fresh and use the basic lore we all love about FF. Oh and i wanna ride a silver chocobo...MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are many aspects that I like about FFXI. However, those aspects could definitely be improved upon (including the things that I don't like hehe). But yeah I loved FFVII too but making it into an mmo would probably kill that for me. They're already milking the hell out of it(Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Advent Children, Remake {only from rumors}) and hell I can't blame them, but there needs to be a time when people just move on. Cloud was cool, Sephiroth even cooler but you can't just keep doing the same game. They've done plenty of other very good games and they will continue to for a while.
I believe that final fantasy XII could make a good online game. The world of ivalice is used more than once.

When people talk about "if you make a/ ff game thats already licened, make it go online. its going to have the same characteristic's" Sqaure would probably adapt to the online atmosphere. More than 3 people in a group ect...
Actually I don't think FFVII was that great.. But everyone has its own opinion.
I would love to see another Final Fantasy MMO tho, since I wouldn't ever have left FFXI if it wasn't for the grind (I managed to get at 55, but wasn't mentally strong to keep going).
If it happens, I just hope it has a job system (non-progressive one).

FF VI (Released as FF3 in the US) for the SNES was the best Final Fantasy of all time. If you never played this classic, get and emulator and experience it.
What is so great about FF7 ? Serious FF6>7 IN EVERY ASPECT POSSIBLE ( in terms of a game )
Villain : Sephiroth
Not a villain at all ... Said was gonna do something and ended up making the biggest mistake that cost him a chance to destroy the world WHICH WAS KILLING AERIS ( what a moron ). Overated character , just because he looks cool doesn't make him good.
Villain : Kefka
Gay , Clown , Psychotic , Homicidal should ( come on there is nothin more evil than a gay clown <.< ). Anywho jokes aside.. A true villain and until now THE ONLY ff villain that actually did what he/she was suppose to do. Kefka became GOD for crying out loud after he technically destroyed the world.
Storyline : FF7
Incomplete to say the least.. No wonder it has become a franchise on it's own . As will its future partner in bullcrap FFXIII
Storyline : FF6
Simple kill the bad guy save the world.. Yes it's been done. However since there aren't any real main characters and you are free to complete the game how YOU decide to ( meaning after end world you dont really have to go looking for the rest of the characters ) makes this game unique on its own.
Characters : Everyone except Cid in FF7 is just boring. Heck this game is so full of crappy character development that if it wasn't for SE making it into a franchise you never would've understood them <.<
In FF6 well..they are who they are .. Depending how you play you get to know them better.
FF8 to me was shite beyond crap.. I actually enjoyed FF9 and FFX ( x-2 does NOT exist ).
Now we come to FFXI: BIG MISTAKE to put it in the mainstream of the series.. Should have called it FF Online . If it was named differently maybe it wouldn't have taken me 4 years to realize how addictive and GOOD this game really is ( for those who care , lvl 67 paladin on siren server.. quit once as lvl 75 pld and started over ).
Honestly i was bashing FFXI since the day it was brought out.. Simple fact YOU HAVE TO PAY. It was kinda dissappointing to see a title that i had to buy to complete my collection at the time sit on my shelf for all those years cuz i just didnt wanna pay for it. But once i got started.......
My favorite character had to be Cyan. Nothing was better than taking a few moments to unleash his sword tech quadra slice... and watch as he hit for 9999 over and over... taking a moment to laugh at the pwnage between each strike.
Kefka? My most hated villain in any game to date. Nothing can compare to this diabolical monster. He poisened a river and killed and entire town for gods sake. It was really amazing to watch his transition into complete insanity... and that laugh.. I still remember it today.
Currently I'm playing through FF12 with some friends, we are having a good time but I'm really missing theme music for each character. The soundtrack for FF6 was amazing.
PS. Yes.. I have an old old save, where I powerleved all of my characters in dinosaur forest, with experience eggs, to 99. =P
*Edit - You could one shot Kefka, if you threw a Atma Weapon (most powerful sword in the game) at him. Fukcing brilliant.
There is also this lovely glitch to make cyan go berserk . just end up taking everyones turn including his own and counters everything on the mob. Brilliant. Oh i knew about the one shot atma weapon :P . What i like the the behemoth 10point magic skill up you can do in the upper island.. Cast death on it.. it'l do meteor and you skill up your stats
FFV was the best imo.....i love that game soo much i still own it. Its the game that introduced the to the vest class system of FF, and where FFXI takes a lot from imo.
Actually rehmes it's not only an opinion ITS A DAMN FACT. Job system BY FAR is the best system ever. Although i enjoy classic level up skills through weapons and summons. I simply loved FFV. I wouldn't go as far to say it was the best FF ( it was better than 8 that is for sure.. goddamnit i hate that game ) but it certainly is up there. FFXI job system is just a pimped out version of V's greatness.

Yeh that job system is amazing. I kinda wish Square Enix would have released FFV in 3d for the DS instead of FFIII. But hey one can only dream. But its still by far my fav FF game to date and one of the best in the series (imo the best).

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Personally I think FF12 would've made a great mmo..11's alright, i just cant adapt to the UI and sluggish combat
FF7 is overrated.
The reason why FFXI gets such bad rep from FF fans is that they treat it like a FF-game, whereas its actually an mmorpg with a FF-theme.

Though I would ten towards FFVIII a little more.
The only bad thing about having a FFVIII or VII mmo is that retarded morons will be playing it
and commit sacrilege towards both games. Therefore I prefer to keep them where they belong.
In the golden closet for all time
