It should not have been too much of a shocker to anyone who signed up for the EQ2 beta.  Their rules were the same...18+  image

Awesome. This is probably one of the bigger contests that MMORPG.com has done in a long time. Only 10 slots but I guess that is better then nothing in such a high-profile game. Good luck to everybody.

I wonder - will Americans and Canadians be prohibited from playing in the European beta test ?  Of course they wont be stopped!!!

Do all Europeans like the whine this much about MMORPG betas?  It happens that developers like to start beta testing in their own region first. And European developers start betas in their own neck of the woods too, like Dark and Light and Saga of Ryzom, so get used to it.

Erm AO actually took mostly americans for beta 1 .Only alpha was nowergians onlybecause they actually had to come into the place and play. And not met a single european mmorpg that did not release first in USA-AO was released 2 weeks before europe in USA.

This is not mmorpg.com fault and the admin has been very sensitive to europeans issues.Though its funny that SoE are letting in legends players in first which has almost 40% europeans so they will be europeans in beta 1 for sure.

Wicked that you actually got this contest for beta with EQ2, as it is for US/canada only, can't we restrict a possible Dragon Empires one (If you get one again :) ) to EU/rest of the world? :)

    I agree with Zace completly!
The only time EU was ahead of US was the release of Horizons.

@OracleP4 did you know what happened to the EU Shadowbane beta? It happened only for few ppl before the bankrupt of the EU publisher. At least they let us playing on the US servers.
And was ever US ppl being locked out of one of the Eu betas? AFAIK none.
SOE is a branch of a japanese factory called Sony. And is it with nearly every japanese factory: EU comes last if one of these factories distributes something wordwide. And the delay makes easily one year or more. This result we get older stuff while in Japan or US they have already its successors if it is ever being released in EU.

    Betatested:

AC2; Lords of Everquest; Horizons; Fung Wan Online; Wish; Saga of Ryzom.

    Played:

EQ (retired); DAoC (retired); Horizons (semi retired); SWG (retired); Shadowbane (Retired)

Thanks again to the fine staff at MMORPG.com. You guys are gonna be on my Christmas list at this rate (no, not fruit cake). I am excited about this one. I started out with the original EQ back in '98 and allowed it to suck four years of my life away before I finally broke away to finish Grad school. Well, school's over.... time to play again. I don't think the wife will mind if I completely lose my last shred of will power and personal hygiene.  Good luck to everyone. image
