I kind of doubt i will be back to this site after this anyhow. The new's has not be useful or interesting in a long time, and I cant belive that the site was not shut-down, or a main-page warning issued.  This virus was knowingly passed on by the operator's here..

Edit: Admin: "The bad news is that there is *nothing* we can do to stop the worm from re-infecting us until Microsoft releases a hotfix for our web servers

    Are you nuts?

A web site that holds to its respectability should NEVER EVER POSE SECURITY RISK !

I personally would like to have some official statement on this incident from mmorpg.com

So... what exactly will this virus or collection thereof DO to an infected system?

Good question... as far as I can tell, based on web links, the exploit just installs something, it shouldn't do anything on its own. In my computer it  downloaded and installed a trojan called "PWS-Lineage" which is said to steal login information for Lineage 2 and Legends of Mir. But there's no guarantee that it' didn't install something else which the antivirus can't detect, or that the hackers haven't modified the Lineage trojan to do something else on the side as well which antivirus makers are not yet aware of. :-/

Thanks for the info...  I hope that is all it does.  Otherwise, I imagine that I will be discussing the finer points of unemployment next week.

I'm not really interested in FireFox to be honest..It's probably just as virus-prone, people just like to pick on Microsoft ;)

Then you would not be interested in keeping your computer safe. Sure, just millions of people talk up and down about Firefox and it's security that surpasses anything IE is capable of. Ya, you are right Firefox must suck. Funny thing is if you'd used Firefox you wouldn't have got the virus in the first place... I'll give you time to sink that in.

[[ DEAD ]] - Funny - I deleted my account on the site using the cancel account button.  Forum user is separate and still exists with no way of deleting it. Delete it admins. Do it, this ends now.
