Why is it now just hitting me? Seriously, how can SOE just totally shift their demographics towards the WoW genre. Yeah, the thought of raking in more money is appealing, but I would never just can my regular customers. I've never seen anything like it. They geared the NGE towards kids who lack the ability to maintain a steady subscription. At first, I just sort of laughed and moved onto another game. But once I went through them (EverQuest, EverQuest II, World of Warcraft, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes), I realize that nothing has come close to the emersion I felt when playing early Star Wars Galaxies. When I say early, I mean no doc buff / no jedi early. Everyone was the class they truly wanted to play and the emersion was simply amazing. There was no hologrind (which I did sadly) or force village. The PvP battles were quick and intense. Whoever had the jump was usually the winner. The huge Anchorhead / Bestine battles blew my mind. Every now and then you would see that guy who had enough faction to buy that AT-ST :) Man it was fun running from that thing. ARRRGH! I want something official... none of this emulator crap.

I just want a brand spanken new SOE'less Star Wars MMO. If anyone ever developes one, I'll never cancel my subscription... even if I stop playing.

    Amen brother!

Except that I would disagree about the village. I thought that was possibly the best content in game. It's just to bad it was designed solely for unlocking Jedi :(

I resubbed recently ... my server is totally dead. Even a /who search in Mos Eisley doesn't get truncated.

I made a toon on Bloodfin and Mos Eisley was freaking wall to wall people. I went to Restuss and only 25 came up on /who  and it was down hill from there .... EVERYWHERE else was very close to empty.

Since Mos Eisley was packed wall to wall and everywhere else was all but dead ... I would say $OE is getting the target audience they wanted ... and they aren't sticking around for the most part. If they were i would expect to see more people  and more higher level people in my travels.

When i resubbed I noticed a dozen or so names in email of people joining the guild so i added them to my friends list. NONE of them logged on while I resubbed.

All I can say is that $OE must have a contract with LEC/LA that says they can do what ever they want to the game as long as LEC/LA gets their licensing fee. Cuz I don't see LEC/LA pulling up stakes and shutting these servers down to go with a company other than $OE.

It is what it is .......
