I beg you guys to come back and see what a piece of crap this game is, in case you ever feel like throwing 15 bucks out of the window...
come and check out the lonely few entertainers in mos eisley enjoying their holobands

the saddest thing is:
this game wont shutdown, simply because of the following reason:
the 2 devs taking care about the patches and chapter updates cost SOE lesser than the money they receive from the 3000 - 5000 subscribers left on tihs game...
so the ressources they put in this game doesnt cost SOE much, which means that there wont be a shutdown soon...

Im serious, you guys need to checkout the current state of this game and the very light population on most of the servers...
I promise, after you logout you will put your star wars galaxies cds into the microwave and uninstall the game from your harddisk...

Already done, actually I fashioned the discs into Ninja throwing stars, took a bit of work, but I had free time on my hands.....my JTL discs became a lovely set of coasters with some cork on one side.
I am -- I got yet another free trial.
I will make SURE I come in and see this yet again..... I will take screen shots and MAKE sure things are still what I preach.
I hope to Hell to get stuck in aggro against a ship terminal again for 10 mins though, I will make video this time...
It's like wanting to watch a car wreck I think, sick yes.... but intresting none the less.

I for one played since beta, and felt it was amazing up until the CU exodus happened. After that the population has never recovered. I did infact go back and take the 21 day vet trial (twice) and no the population is not good, on any server (I gave you NGE lovers the benefit of the doubt and played on the 'populated' servers). You know what? The game IS improving, I'll admit it, albiet very slowly. But the population is still abysmal, and that's the truth. Yes, if you started just after the NGE, it would look like things are hopping busy compared to what we had a year ago, but that's not what people are using as their benchmark here. We've seen what 'populated' really looks like, and what we have now frankly is not it.
Sorry to say, but it's true.

I was from Wanderhome, it was one of the light to medium population servers in the old days. And still PvP fights consisted of at least 1000 players on each side. I can't even imagine how Bria must have been, being the Heavier server of all time. Hub cities were full, not deserted. Full in a sense that you had Doctors and Medics on Medic Center, Entertainers in Cantinas, several noobs (or show offs) killing those aggressive NPCs running around, people trading, dueling, buffing in front of the Starport, More people inside the starport around the ticket booths choosing where to go next, people waiting for the shuttle, hey even the museum had people...
Your community may be alive and kicking, but ain't anywhere near to what it used to be.

Let's all flame the "NGE Fanboi!" I did indeed play way before Pre-CU and very much enjoyed it, i quit before the CU was released and never looked back, i carried moving on with my life but more importantly, i didnt let a frigging computer game get to me which is what alot of you are doing. I returned about 3 months back to check the game out, at first i hated it and wasnt exactly thrilled with the so called "New Experience". However, i gave it a chance (with is what even more of you dont do) and it slowly started to warm to me. I came across a brilliant guild and noticed the community was very warm. So like the title of this thread says, use the trial and check the game out instead of sitting here, waiting for the day The Ducks released, IF it ever gets that far...
Oh and Iskareot, what IS your point? So what if nobody turned up for the summit from the Euro server/s?
I gave it a shot too, and like I said, it IS improving. I'd play it if there were more people (I like MM in my MMO's). But to say it's populated is frankly not true and you know it.
This is a real dilemma, 21 days of the ever mutating NGE or join the open beta for Lord of the Rings On-line ( thanks PC gamer!).

Regarding the euro summit. There have never been many of these organised. Mainly because the game was US centric. But if you note, the euro servers, specifically Chimaera, have maintained an "adequate" population level. Certainly not brilliant and definately nothing like pre-NGE but enough to make it stand out.
Theorising, that's why I think a Euro summit was launched. this year.
Theorising further, why was attendance crap?
Maybe Euro players knew they were few and far between and thought it not worth the time and money investment?
Maybe they had been before and just knew it wasn't worth the time and money investment?
Or, maybe because the population couldn't travel without parental permission?
Believe it or not, yeah. Wow I remember when I had to turn people down when they were asking to join our 20 member band in the cantina because we were full. There were sometimes 2 or 3 full 20 member bands going, with different instruments and dancers doing group flourishes and stuff. I had a bot that did all kinds of crazy special effects too, it was wild. And man, every cantina was packed to the roof. Eisley, Theed, Coronet. It was crazy, and I loved it. When I first read about holobands, I had the same reaction as you.

at any moment unless the population increases. Of course they are going to be friendly. I bet they offered you a bunch of in game stuff too. When the president of the company says that server merges need to be "fasttracked" due to declining populations, it is time to be concerned about the game's future. SOE already canceled one expansion due to lack of players and have no plans for another. They have also pulled most of the resources (money and people) off of the game because they no longer feel it is worth the investment. You have more faith in the game and the developers than SOE and the game's developers do.
Ast to the 'Let's all flame the 'NGE Fanboi' and you not letting "a friggen computer game" get to you, you came into this thread with a chip on your shoulder because people were trash talking the game that you currently enjoy. You felt the need to get all pissy and defend your game.
I gave the current game a chance, it sucks. The core of the game is broken and it would take another complete revamp to fix it. SOE doesn't think the game is worth the investment and are content to allow it to continue to wither away.
