Well lets put it this way. You see I have a pvp and a pve ele. Both of thier second proffessions are mesmer for 1 main reason. The skill arcane echo. I case you didn't know, this skill basically replaces any skill right after you use it. So lets say you cast arcane echo, and then cast savahanna heat. Yes that means that skill slot of arcane echo was turns into another savahanna heat. Thats right, even elite skills can by used twice right after each other. Comes in handy. SH can only be used by pvp eles tho. My pve ele uses the same concept, except I use this with meteor storm. If you dont have meteor storm on ure pvp, use it with meteor or any other skill that hits high (preferrably star burst then). :) hope this helped

    I used to have a E/Me and a E/N back when I played.

E/N is fun but necromancer as a second class isn't that useful on pvp, while E/Me (as the poster above said) is pretty useful, and most of the times is the most popular choise.

A friend of mine had a E/Ri and he said it did pretty good on pvp, you can check it out, but I can't say for sure because I didn't really play Factions enough to know.

EDIT: Healing skills aren't necessary for elementalists, since most Hall builds don't require elementalists with healing skills.

Keep the E/Mo and instead of using Arcane Echo (which costs 15 to use and gets no benefit from attunements), go to Perdition Rock and capture Glyph of Renewal. It's way better for an Elementalist than Arcane Echo.

With GoR, I can cast Meteor Shower every 15 seconds instead of twice in 60 (which is what you'd get with Arcane Echo), because the recharge for GoR is only 15 seconds. Hit Gor, use MS or FS, wait til GoR recharges and nukem again.

Here are my 2 main Ele builds, and they are both E/Mo:

    1. Mark of Rodgort, Glyph of Renewal (Elite), Fire Storm, Lava Font, Meteor Shower, Fire Attunement, Conjure Flame, and Resurrect.

    2. Mark of Rodgort, Searing Flames (Elite), Glowing Gaze, Lava Font, Breath of Fire, Fire Attunement, Conjure Flame, Resurrect.

If you have GoR (as in the first build) you can use that 8th slot for a res skill, so you get unlimited res and a better "echo" skill. (GoR costs 5 energy and recharges your next skill instantly). GoR renders the E/Me build almost pointless, IMHO. (Me/E, however, is a different story.)

If you're using the second build, you still don't need /Me. Searing Flames and Glowing Gaze recharge so fast, you don't need to echo them.

But if you want a truly fun Ele build, go E/R and get Conflagration and Favorable Winds. Team with an MM using Bone Fiends, hit the baddies with Mark of Rodgort then watch them start burning everything on the map. :) That's a really fun farming build I use.

IMHO, E/Me isn't necessary once you have GoR.

P.S. You only need self-healing skills if you intend to play your Ele like a tank, in which case you're going to suck at tanking and healing yourself. The only "Tank-mentalist" build I know is an Earth-Warder, and they don't use self-heals unless it's Aura of Restoration.

You do the nuking, stay out of aggro range, and let the monks focus on healing the real tanks. :)

What exactly is Conjure Flame used for? I've I recall it just a enchantment that just adds like 12 damage to your melee weapon.

"What exactly is Conjure Flame used for? I've I recall it just a enchantment that just adds like 12 damage to your melee weapon."

Imagine your Ele has a max damage fire weapon (wand or staff) and you put 16 aps into fire and load CF. Suddenly you've just turned your max damage weapon into a more powerful weapon, capable of doing major damage all by itself. (At 16 aps, the damage output from the weapon increases +22). So instead of doing 22 potential damage per shot with a fire wand or staff, now you're doing 44! (Yeah, it's that good).

But the more important reason to carry a second enchantment - like CF - is to "cover" your fire attunement or other really important enchantment you don't want getting stripped or shattered. Use Fire Attunement first, then throw CF on top of it. When a Mesmer or Necro kills one of your enchantments, they're going to remove CF first, leaving FA (for example) still working.

If you're a "Barrage/Conjure" Ranger, you do massive amounts of damage with Conjure *, because unlike a preparation, Barrage doesn't remove enchantments when you use it.

Conjure Flame/Frost/Lightning are really underrated enchantments, IMHO.

That is kind of interesting Serling. I may test Conjure Flame this weekend, since the new skill updated, CF does alot more damage.

Mesmer is a nice choice, thats what I use mainly on my ele.

I like the Inspiration line, with the various Mantras, especially Mantra of Concentration and Resolve if you hate being interupted. There are also some interupt skills that steal energy as well, like Leech Signet and Power Drain.

Mesmer is a good choice . Its what I started out with like most , But after a while I noticed that in Pve where aggro is a major issue everyone needs some of there own healing skills so I went to monk that worked much better + if your good you can be a backup monk. But then I tryed ritualist and WOW so much better ! get your restoration up to 12 attribute your favorite Ele Dmg. attribute up to 15 and the rest in energy storage and you will ROCK  even a good solo char !

Do not mistake Indifference for Hate. Nor Kindness for Weakness. for this is the Bane of Judgment !

If you want to try something kickass and you own Factions, try going Assassin secondary and capping the elite Assassin's Promise.
