Just played it, and the graphics suck, must be 5 years old

in Lord of the Rings Online

I just logged in and I can tell you the Graphics suck, they must have been developed by kids 5 years ago using flash. I was expecting a lot from this game after waiting so long for a version of this game to come out, and Im really disappointed. When compared to games like Vanguard, Conan and Pirates of the Burning Sea, the graphics are terrible, you feel totally disconnected with the game and the game as a whole has a 2D annimation feel to it. You just dont feel like your in a real world and everything looks so fake including the characters. Im sorry but this is typical crap being pumped out by codemasters these days, I have no idea why the franchise was given to them in the first place. It reminded me of a typical asian cartoon show you would see on tv. Very disapointed.

The only thing going for this game is the actual story and gameplay, its actually quite good for noobs, as you get lead around by the hand when you first start doing quests. Dont think its worth buying a long subscription and whatever you do dont buy the collectors version, what a waste of money. Better to try for free first and see if you like it.

    Sorry, i only post when i have something to say, unlike others here. I stick to what i said, the graphics suck, after all, I have a right to say what i think just like all you other fanboys:)

    I must disagree with the OP.  If there was one thing they got right in LOTRO, it was the look of the environments.  In fact, I would even say that the environments are the best looking I've ever seen in an mmorpg.  The look of the characters and the gear models are pretty lame imo, but theres no denying that the LOTRO World graphics look awesome.

    The game known for a graphics engine so bad that it stutters on anyone's machine no matter how great it is.  Even Sigil recognizes their engine stutters alot from their poor graphics! (prmosing to fix it, but yet to be seen)

    Lets not even go into the other complaints that are much too in-depth when talking about art direction for you to understand.

     

    As far as I am concerned, you wouldn't know good graphics for an mmo if they were to bite you in the arse.  Go back to your Vangaurd and enjoy your stuttering graphics and cities void of detail!

    There is a difference between stating your opinion, and spamming bullshit post.

     If you think LoTRO looks 5 years old and like it is a 2d game made in flash, replace your glasses, your 50kHz 1.2mb ram "computer", and take another look.

    Try Turbine, not Codemasters!  Have you even played this game?

    This post has to be a joke and purely sarcasm!  I give it a 8/10 for sarcasm, it really made me laugh.

    Well, you know he spent at least 5 seconds researching his facts on everything before he posted. So eloquent was his argument, it's almost a pity to inform him of it's worthlessness.

    He must have the beta version that you download.  It can look really bad if you don't get the extra textures.

    First of all these graphics rock in this game, sure the character textures might need some work with animtions on cloaks and maybe there hair but thats about it, to be honest the graphics are awesome it may not be oblivion but its just not possible atm to make a mmorpg with those kind of graphics perform well without a super high cpu.

    A post like this in the Vanguard forums would of gotten deleted already.

    Disagree with the original post. I find the graphics immersive, as well as the atmospheric details , When you go into the swamp it renders many different ways, sometimes it is clear, sometimes thick with fog , the water changes as well, it is very dynamic and probably one of the best concepts to hit the market.



    Gives us a ring when other games can make a dynamically changing environments in a mmo scale.  Till then , make love with a razor.In My Opinion
