Confusion Surrounding Pre-Order

Hey all,

Can someone quickly clear up my confusion regarding these pre-orders of the game.

I went onto game.co.uk and pre-ordered the game (special edition £49.99, standard edition £24.99) and I found out that game have an exclusive deal in which they can offer a 10 day early access via a download of the low rez client (not a worry cos I still have the low rez client from the beta), woot.

This is where my confusion starts. My friend went into a game store and bought a £1.99 copy of the game with the 10 day early access deal. Now I can't believe that this is the final version of the game due to a massive difference in price. My belief is that this dvd is to allow people to play for 10 days early with the hi-rez client rather than downloading the low rez one. If this is true then will this person be able to play for 10 days and then need to purchase the final edition or will they be able to continue playing with there £1.99 copy once it goes retail (24th)?

Thanks

Dave

More than likely, it is just the file on disk instead of downloading the software. He will still have to pay the remainder of the price for the game he pre-oredered when it arrives. Alot of stores are just e-mailing the keys to people so they can download, so the store he bought it from just made it a little easier, is all.

They will need to purchase a full version of the game.  His 1.99 version is probably similar to preordering here in the states.  I perordered a copy for my wife and I had to put $5 down on that and she got early access to the open beta by doing so.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Yep, the 1.99 copy is just the pre-order version of the game which will be used until the games official release on the 24th of this month. EB/Gamestop, Bestbuy, Frys, and not sure who else got the pre-order early access deal, but at bestbuy people only had to put down 10 dollars and at EB chains only 5. Now upon the release of the game they will have to pay the rest of the game off to get the full release version of the game.

To your answer though. They are the same beta copy client versions.

    Notes:

    * The preorder cd's are the hi-rez client. Having played both the low-rez  (in closed beta) and hi-rez client (from my pre-order cd), I can personally attest to this. There is a dramatic difference.

*At many US stores at least, you can buy the pre-order "box", you get early access to the open beta (early access began on March 31, access for all others begins Fri Apr 6), you have the opportunity to join the Founders program, you get some special in-games item that are helpful for giving your character a kick start through low levels, and the company you got your pre-order from will usually hold a copy of the final retail product for you unless you call and tell them you won't be buying, which is nice because then you don't have to worry whether you'll get to the store before they're sold out.
