IMO you make music with your mind and hearth, not computers...

Well.. Lay of the instruments then.

Let's hear some true beats, as in heartbeats.. get it? get it?

The computer is merely a tool used in the production of the music. The computer doesn't make the music out of nowhere, it actually requires user input.

In the same way that an instrument does not make music out of nowhere, it needs interaction in some form or another too.

If you don't think you put any mind nor hearth into digital music, then the statement i made before, still stands.. That is, you're ignorant.

Don't worry, when i was a metal head, i had your opinion too. Now i've just learned to appreciate the diversity within all genres of music, and no longer limit myself to a narrow field.

Baised on your opinion, think about what you said there. Do you really think that a computer makes it by iteself? It takes a mind and heart to make music. What's a rockstar without an instrument? The computer is mainly an instrument. You have to work with it and it won't do the work by itself. Thus anything can make music. I can bang my head on the keyboard and make music. By what you say, music isn't made by it'self. Not only that, electronics are a big part of music these days including computers, no matter what genre of music.

Just to let you know it's hard to back up somthing you don't like (this is not directed towards you sven).

Rap and hip-hop music is 100% made by computer, no instruments are used.

PS to all: In no way I mean to offend anyone. This is my opinion about ''rap''

Want a bet? Actually in order to have music on the computer it has to be transfered, recorded from the instrument. A lot of rap instrumentals is actualy made and recroded in the studio to be remixed, warped, etc. Name me some popular rap songs that you think is by a Computer.

Yo Jack, there is no soul in a computer yet you can put your heart and soul into your work. No instrument has soul, yet you put your soul into it. Playing music on a real instrument and recording it is composing.

I get what he's saying, and to some extent, I agree that a lot of today's rap has no soul.  Rap is not what it once was...I understand the need for music to evolve, but going from the stuff that Death Row was making in the early 90's to the stuff that people like T.I and The Game are cranking out now, and it's sad.  Rap has lost a lot of what made it so powerful in the first place.  Instead of Dr.Dre rapping about gang violence and the struggles of people in that situation, you have people like J-kwon talking about "er body in the club gettin' tipsy"  Now do you really want to tell me that THAT isn't sad?  I know that some stuff is just for fun, and that rappers have always tried to have some fun with their stuff...but right now the genre is saturated with morons talking about how much money they have, how many women they've slept with, and how much they looove booty.  There is a very real reason why Nas called his last album "Hip Hop is Dead"

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Edit: Can't believe I left out grunge rock/metal.
This is some list coming from a 16 year old boy.  I'm VERY, VERY impressed!  I just bought my husband an Opeth t-shirt for his birthday coming up.  He'll be 41.  Although I'm not usually a huge fan of progressive rock, I seem to enjoy anything Steven Wilson is involved with, thanks to the hubby.   I mostly listen  the more hard edged electronica such as The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Orbital, Underworld, etc.  I also quite enjoy all things metal, funk, industrial, and no emo at all.

Edit:  Oh, and Krautrock.  I loves me some Krautrock!

I agree with you to some extent. If they are not club bangin songs then I really don't like listening to them. I would have to say that a lot of music genre's are making a change and people are starting to like it. It's like how people who like old school music is moving towards that more than today's music. Every genre now a days have a swing and miss when it come's to "LOVE".

Lil Jon- To the windows, to the walls. Until the sweat drips from my balls, all my females crawl. Oh skeet skeet etc...

    Akon- I wanna f**k you

D12- Should have slayed me as a baby, take pleasure in laying a n****r down daily

And countless other pointless rap lyrics have turned me away from the genre entirely, write about something other than your penis and how much money you have and I might give it a try. Until then I'll stick to music that was made by someone who gives a shit.

Seems like rap is moving to make more club type music. The only lycrically good club music was 50's in da club. It told us the enviroment and amosphere. There are some good rappers out there away from mainstream.

You guys are extremely biased against rap...  You guys only here the singles on VH1 and MTV but you never actually here the stuff that is insightfull..... PLEASE dont tell me you are going to argue that Rap is a lessor form of art because The lyrics are about sex, bling and money.... Do you want me to list some Johnny Cash lyrics?

And just because these days Rock is all about killing yourself or feeling sad doesn't make it somehow more valid as an art form...

Both genres have their topics and their strengths and weaknesses... Rock has more an emphasis on the band and the music... While rap, hiphop, R&B has more of its emphasis on the words... Its just a different realm of thought... Lyrics accompany the music in rock, The music accompanies the lyrics in Rap...  simple as that...

And who ever the person was that said that Rap is 100% made by computers... is well... silly... You clearly have no understanding outside your sheltered roof...

One of the first tracks on The Chronic...though I'm not a huge rap fan, I think Snoop Dogg is pretty funny.

About his dead beat mom...Eminem is probably one of the best song writers who is actually rapping today.

I'm a fan of anything that has meaning...and while the first song that I posted is more or less posturing from one rap crew to another, I have a lot of respect for anyone that can put together a song of any kind and have it be meaningfull, whether it's rap or metal, it's all worthwhile.

Hey guess what, I don't listen to Johnny Cash either. I never said that rap is all computers; bass guitars, drums and even electric guitars are all often used in the making of rap songs and I acknowledge that.

Here are the lyrics to my favorite song, it actually means something to me, it's not about killing myself and it is quite obviously 100% instruments. It's called Best I Am by Flaw, feel free to compare the lyrics to "In Da Club".

    Long.

I've been running away for far too long.

    Afraid of what?

Afraid of what I know is soon to come.

I may not be much of an example right now,

But I can give you all of my knowledge on how

To get along in this place.

Right now, all I can say,

Is I will do the best that I can,

To be a good example of man.

And I know one day that you'll understand.

You deserve the best that I am.

You deserve the best that I am.

    It's so hard,

So hard to think about when I was a child.

    So angry at life,

I blamed the world for such a long, long time.

    But things happened so quickly,

    Some people just go.

I needed answers to heal me,

I wanted to know how to get by,

And now its my turn to say,

That I will do the best that I can,

To be a good example of man.

And I know one day that you'll understand.

You deserve the best that I am.

So I gotta do the best that I can,

To be a good example of man.

And I know one day that you'll understand.

You deserve the best that I am, I am, I am.

    THIS IS ALL FOR YOU

    (everything in this world)

    (everything in this world)

    This is all for you.

    (everything in this world)

    (everything in your world)

Things wont (everything in this world)

    Always,

Go right (everything in my world)

    In this life.

There's always changes.(everything in your world)

    We'll make it.

That's why I gotta do the best that I can,

To be a good example of man.

And I know one day that you'll understand.

You deserve the best I am, I am, I am.

    And I will..

    Cause I will..

    I will..

I will do the best that I can

As long as we're posting powerfull and meaningfull lyrics...This song is about Maynard's mother, who spent 27 years paralyzed and in a wheel chair...this is deep stuff.

Listen to the tales and romanticize,

How we follow the path of the hero

Boast about the day when the rivers overrun,

How we rise to the height of our halo.

Listen to the tales as we all rationalize

Our way into the arms of the savior

Feigning all the trials and the tribulations,

None of us have actually been there,

    Not like you...

    Ignorant fibbers in the congregation

    Gather around spewing sympathy,

    Spare me...

None of them can even hold a candle up to you,

Blinded by choices hypocrites won't see

But enough about the collective Judas

Who could deny you were the one who illuminated

your little piece of the divine

This little light of mine, a gift you passed onto me,

    I'm gonna let it shine,

to guide you safely on your way

    Your way home...

Ohh, what are they gonna do when the lights go down

without you to guide them all to Zion?

What are they gonna do when the rivers overrun

    other than tremble incessantly?

    High is the way

but our eyes are upon the ground.

You are the light and the way

    They'll only read about

    [ Lyrics found on http://www.metrolyrics.com ]

    I only pray heaven knows

    When to lift you out

10000 days in the fire is long enough.

    You're going home...

You're the only one who can hold your head up high,

Shake your fist at the gates saying,

    "I have come home now!

Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father,

Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.

    It's time now!

    My time now!

    Give me my

    Give me my wings!"...

    Give me my (x5)

    "Give me my wings!"

You are the light, the way, that they will only read about

Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance

Burden of proof tossed upon non-believers.

You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence,

    Judith Marie, unconditional one.

    Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence.

Difficult to see you in this light.

    Please forgive this bold suggestion:

Should you see your maker's face tonight

    Look him in the eye

Look him in the eye and tell him

I never lived a lie, never took a life,

    But surely saved one

    Hallelujah,

It's time for you to bring me home.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Consistantly the most meaningful and deep lyrics of any band that I have ever heard, and that includes APC as well.

Here's some food for thought from Ludacris

    (ludacris)

lord, please forgive me for the mistakes i've made

and thanks for keepin my momma safe when she wrecked my escalade

see i could replace a cadillac but i can't replace my momma

i'm sorry for the hip-hop beefs, we sorry for the drama

but you gotta understand us rappers ain't never had nothin

and one's loss is another's gain so we gotta grab somethin

lord, got so many questions i need the answers to

and sorry for the thangs i put my baby's mama through

i feel that women are really the strongest human beings

but why do you make 'em so emotional, and other minor things

i guess it's your way of sayin we gotta love 'em and gotta praise 'em

cause without 'em we'd be nothin, plus our kids they gotta raise 'em

while we, out and about and seein what life has to offer

but if you offer a new life then what we need is better fathers

either i'm smarter cause of my daughter or i'm just too dense

i'm 28 years old, it just now started makin sense

    and i've been...

    (chorus one)

searchin so looooong, i was lost in the clouds

i'm tryna stay strooooong, and make you prouuuuud

it took me some tiiiiime, but now i see

that heeeee resiiiiides, in me yeahhhhh yeah

    (ludacris)

lord, forgive me for anytime a fan said i was bein rude

i'm only human, i'm not always in the best of moods

but thanks for givin the gift of rap to write my feelings down

and sorry for cursin sometimes but feelings make me shout 'em out

forgive the people that wanna blame everything on rap music

if they didn't live it they can't relate or even adapt to it

forgive those who don't think i'm great and wanna see me go

forgive oprah for editin most my comments off her show

don't get me wrong, i know some people got a image to hold

but those who criticize the youth might just be gettin too old

we still travellin through life, findin what's right or wrong

i know some folks may not agree or even like this song

but i'm just speakin my truth, cause i heard it sets you free

and my conversation's with god, even though he speaks through me

i'm smarter cause of my daughter, and i'm not too dense

i'm 28 years old, it just now started makin sense

    and i've been...

    (chorus one)

    (ludacris - over chorus one)

    i've been searchin so long

i admit that i've been lost in them clouds

i'm just tryna stay strong baby

you know i'ma make you proud

i know life is full of contradictions

i'm tryna become a better man

prayin for redemption, each and every day
