this game is the simplest of mmo's. it pretty much is just the basics. all you do is go to dungeon, fight monsters, do quests. that is it. no pvp, no ranking system, all it is is grinding your hearts out. i have no clue why people would play this game once they reach lvl 100. once you hit 100 what is there left to do? go to dungeons and fight monsters thats what. thats not all that great for me. there is only one town also. not a big deal but it tends to get boring seein the same stuff over and over again. plus the classes are pointless. you can buy any ability you want regardless of class. only thing classes do is set your passive skills you get or whatever they are called. i think they are gettin rid of classes so thats cool.
their are good things about this game though. it makes fun of other mmo's with its funny characters and weapons. dungeons only take about 10 minutes which is pretty cool for people like me who dont want to spend hours fighting countless monsters like in wow. plus they are different layout each time which is pretty cool.
now to me the bad things outweigh the good things. this game is really not that great. some people like to grind all day and thats fine. if you like that have fun with this game. if you want to do somethin else i would avoid this game if i were you. if they want to make this game better and attract more people they need a good pvp system, some sort of ranking system, and somthin to do when you hit lvl 100. now i heard they are addin a pvp system to it which is cool. hopefully they will make it fun and cool. now all they need it some ranking system and stuff to do after lvl 100. when they do that i think this game would be pretty good. as for now its only good until you hit lvl 100.

Most negative reviews I've read of the game pertain to it not meeting the players' expectations for what the game should be. The problem with these expectations is that neither the developers nor the official website say the game is anything other than what it is, a fast-paced, online hack-n-slash. So how do players go into the game with erroneous expectations?
Here's a review I originally wrote on these boards and modified and posted after the last major build:

I don't think you played the game long enough. You said thay you got through the dungeons in 10 minutes, which is not really possible in the lower level dungeons and certainly not the HDoL.
While on the surface DR is a very simple game, if you take time to play it you will find that it has hidden subtleties. It has six damage types (melee, fire, ice, poison, divine, shadow). There are plenty of loot drops in the game so that getting the right comination of armour/weapon/attributes is very interesting.
Determining the best way to takle the harder mob groups is also good. Is it best to use magic, or ranged weapons or just run in and bash, bash, bash? The satisfaction from dealing with a group of mobs quickly that used to be a problem is very high.
When PvP arrives I will welcome it. For now I don't miss it, if I want PvP I can log into my other MMO.
I think that the game needs other things before PvP, like guilds, more dungeons and pirate outfits.
Why does pvp have to have a ranking system/rewards? it only feeds the mindless nothings that play all day and the little casual players is the one that gets screwed because he cant compete....
Whats wrong with being satified that you killed someone with just plain old weaponnand armor?
