my idea for death penalty....

1. if you die.. then you shouldn't be allowed to play until the next day.... sounds harsh but fair to me.... the death penalty should be harsh enough where you try really hard not to die but willing to risk it if its worth it...   like a team mission elite players will plan ahead and make sure none of your friends die... and in full scale castle wars too.

what you guys think? too much?

p.s.. this wont do too well in the pc cafe's

I think it,s way to harsh. And it would drive away most of the casual players, that FC depend a great deal on,because most mmo players are infact casual

Edit:What if other players make a mistake that cause your death, should you get the penalty?

Doesn't this idea kind of defeat the purpose of a game?

    Stupid idea lol.

I dont understand how it could defeat the purpose of a game.. It just makes the people who died regret that they were so stupid and DIED!

I play games to have fun, and well to play the game.

If you can't play the game until the next day just because you died in it, people wouldn't bother playing it.

Battles are made so people die, your chances of dying are fairly great.

Once again, in a more detailed fashion...this idea would never, ever, work.

No good, members of a guild will be forced to not play at all on the day of a siege, otherwise they might die and not be able to help fight to defend their own city and/or capture another one. In some of the more active guilds, particularly those with more than one city, a siege can occur quite often, even though you do have advance warning.

Just make full looting. Anyone who has played a game with full looting will tell you, the last thing you want is an unnecessary death.

No offence, but that must be one of the most stupid ideas i've ever heard for a deathpenalty, In PvP a deathpenalty should be negative for the player that dies and possitive for the player that kills him. If this deathpenalty would be used, there would be no reward for killing an other player except for knowing you just ruined someones day. And i would certenly not play on a FFA PvP server with this penalty, would just be way to frustrating to die by a player more powerfull then myself.  Don't get me wrong im no so called "carebear" im all for FFA PvP with free looting, but this is just stupid.

ok... this game is by nature a pretty hardcore game and its demographic is the hardcore crowd lets get that straight..

maybe waiting 1 day to play it is a little too harsh... but there has to be a penalty that would hurt.  full looting is fine with me or maybe just loose one of your armor pieces at random.

ok how bout you would just have to wait 15 minutes to play??? dying in counter strike waiting 3 min seems like a life time so 15 is harsh enough.  i just hate how games let people die with no penalty.. no worries natta.   during a city wide war the 15 minute wait could be long enough where u get back in and they already sacked your town because you werent careful in the beginning... didn't form proper frontline formations.... but then again if the war is long enough then once your resurrected you and your platoon can think of a new strategy and turn the tides of war!!!  wow this game is amazing

p.s. somebody should make an ultra powerful clan  called spartans  with 300 members  and have their own city called sparta... and they would be legends in the aoc universe :)

I think the penalties they have in place are just fine. Nobody wants to fight an epic mob, have the mob get them low on health and then somebody rides by to kill them, and then take their mob loot, and then not even be able to play for X amount of time.

Having to run back to where you were, lose blood money, among other things in penalty enough.

No offense, but not a good idea.

This would penalize players who actually stand and fight protecting their land, and favor (in some way) the coward on their team that ran past them in fear of a penalty.

In any game where territory can be won, the small act of being taken out of the battle, and having to make your way back is large enough penalty.  But being the bastard that I am, I would prefer to loot their non-equipped inventory and cash.

Nothing will make you want to fight harder or live longer than you're homeland's safety.

I think if you're in solo mode it would be ok to have a harsh time penalty - X number of hours.  But if your in a party it makes no sense at all.  The other consideration is lag death.  If you're running solo and you die due to a server problem, it would be too frustrating.

At least I do play the games to do something, if there is a death penalty it has to be that I have to do something extra. A death penalty wich would force me to do nothing is NOT FUN, it'd turn me from a player to a watcher and make me find something other to do instead of sitting in front of the computer and not playing the game.

Wow, now that is a hardcore death penalty !! i dont think devs would be too keen to put something in a game that would force people to go and do something else other than playing the game. Even for MMO's with harsh death penalties like VG the incentive is still there to keep playing (go on the corpse run or make up the lost xp).

Imo, its way too much - but I like seeing people post ideas like this.

Glad someone mentioned the lag/bug/glitch death thing (not surprised its someone who is also playing VG atm ;)

No dev would seriously consider a "game time out" as any sort of death penalty as that is just asking your players to go play another game.

Well I dont care for heavy death penalty's. Mostly because the people I've known who died in  real combat didn't die because they were stupid, and they did'nt ever come back. But this is a game and not real warfare, so I'll just go along with whatever they deside to do and either play or trash it, along with several dozen other games with and without death penelty's.

what about the people who come to the game months or even years after its release and get killed by the higher leveled ppl.

Yeah...thats what your average gamer would pay for...lol. Pay to not play haha. Nah, I know you were tryign to come up with a good idea...however any decent gamer that actually likes a challenge would be spending alot of time not playing. Hardcore server idea...maybe. Any normal server...not a chance.

Full loot. Thats the best feature of PvP.
