Sick of the LOTR franchise...

But this ones a clear winner!

Im part of a huge demographic of people that WoW introduced to the genre, who have been bored for a while, trying every MMO on the face of the earth to no avail.

This is the first one to really impress me, its incredibly polished and sucks you in from the get go with great writing, and beatiful art.  I actually went to bed last night and had to fight the urge to jump up and play for another hour, and nothing has done that to me since WoW first came out, and that was based on the story, something that in other games Ive usually skipped over.

Wife had a headache again? The people that are against same sex marriages haven't been married very long, after awhile it's all the same sex...makes you kinda glad there are MMORPGs, doesn't it?

Anyway, pick up a copy of Harvard Lampoon's book "Bored of the Rings".

This game is not even close to being the same as Wow, people that say that are basically looking for an excuse to rip the game up, thats part of the reason why i left Wow is because of there childess behaviour and bad attitude community. I think Wow will be a 'short term' success game, heck its already turning into that! Eventually majority of players will leave that god awful game and pick up an extremely enjoyable game such as Lotro.

The only parallel I see is alot of  polish and attention to quality in performance, visuals and animation.  Which should be the standard really.

    /passes on vanguard cheap-shot

Most of these games have quests, loot and levelling...every game seems to be going towards the WoW interface (for good reason)...so that doesnt really count for much.

Yeah, i have played both WoW and LOTRO, and I have yet to see similarities. If you hope for your claims to hold any water, name the similarities between LOTRO to WoW that WoW didn't previously take from EQ or UO or DaoC or any other MMO in the Industry today. This is the problem, every MMO has some sort of similarities with every MMO out there, thats what makes them MMOs.  I just hate when people compair these two games. Please put some facts in your posts before you go off on some tangent and make your self look like an idiot.

And that makes WoW what? a clone of 500+ other games? You're just as sad listening too like the rest of the emo kids saying everything is a wow copy. wow is so much a copy of 500 other games, but you guys just can't see that cause ya have no idea about what the mmorpg genre was before wow.

So So very true most of the wow kiddies do not realize how much WoW took/used from the pioneers of the mmog genre. All blizzard difd was make a very polished game that is fun I will readily admit ,I will also admit its just like any other mmog thats been put out for the most part other than blizzard dumbed it down so any 5 year old can play it.

Sad fact is and what most ppl who love WoW fail to realize is I am not sure WoW is a good thing for the mmog genre because now we will see alot more games that are all easy mode and no challenge like wow so they can hope to get some of wow's customers I feel the fun challeneging days of mmogs are at a end and no I am not talkin about the grind that some will point out I am talkin about actually killing a raid mob or gettin somewhere in a game and actually apprcietating it unlike WoW where it tajkes no effort and even less skill/game knowledge to be 70.
