Hi

Me and my brother have been playing Wolrd of Warcraft for two years now and are getting bored.
We want something new and thought about DAOC.
We where mostly doing PVP and want to keep doing that.

So i have a few questions:
1:Is there a big difference between WOW and DAOC?
2:Is leveling up really boring?
3:Can we do duo PVP or do we allwas need to be in bigger groups to do simething?
4:Wich two classes would be best for duo PVP?
5: would we need all the addons to play it or wich ones would be important?

So i hope we can get some advice!

Just to answer your question overrall from someone who has rr9+ plus toons on TOA and classic servers.  PvP here is the best, Just I feel now at this state in the game, Mythic is testing WAR code now and making some drastic changes in the RvR that once use to be the best, so there is some severe inbalance going on.  But stealthers or Valk+thane or Warden+anything will be good to duo with.  Just don't solo a minstrel to high RR unless you have over a year or so from 50 to rvr with, I was lucky....

    1.  Yes.  WoW is a joke in comparisson.

    2.  No.  There is no need to do raids to level or get gear.

    3.  It depends on what you want to do.  Take a tower/keep then yes.  If you just want to roam around, then you need 8.  If you want small skirmishes, pick off loan people, fight in the lab, then you can do 2.

    4.  Depends on your goals, but most likely you are going to want two archer classes.  You have the longest range in the game and can stealth.  If you both pick a target you can shoot and the same time and drop the person.  Then run off and restealth.  2 assassins could work, but are sub-par to archers and you will be camping a few spots and waiting for a lone target to come by.  Also, you are likely to be jumped by other groups of assassins.  Playing an assassin as a duo is better in the lab than out in the front.

    5.  No, but it makes things easier.  Unless you were just going to be do the trial, then you are going to by the game.  Doing that gives you all of the expansions.

    1.  Yes and no.  Levelling up in DAOC is similar to WoW now with as many quests as they have.  Outside of that, no.  DAOC's mechanics are different and the system much more diverse.

    2.  Not really, but that is pretty subjective.  I do not like "the grind" but DAOC is a ton easier than it used to be.  Just the other day I started a new character on a new server with no money, help, or powerlevelling and levelled him up to 30 in 3 days of casual play.

    3.  Duo pvp is going to be difficult at 50, but not impossible if you have a good combination of classes.  In the battlegrounds, duos work very well.

    4.  Even though someone mentioned being an archer, after the revamp last week, there are a bazillion archers out there now.  If you plan to duo outside of the stealth classes, I'd recommend a high damage melee class with a robust support class.  I'd say mauler or mercenary + friar or paladin; vampiir, blademaster or valewalker + warden; mauler, berserker, or savage + shaman.

    5.  Addons would be nice, but not needed.  Note that Classic Camelot, Shrouded Isles, Catacombs, and New Fronteers are all pretty much free except for monthly subscription.  Darkness Rising and Laborynth of the Minotaur cost 29.99 packaged together AFAIK and not really all that necessary.

    Thanks for all the answers!

    I have another question...

Should i play classic or not? I heard it takes much less time in new to get lvl 50.

And is TOA for free or would we have to buy it? (i heard that TOA did alot changes)...

If i would download the game + Addon on one pccould i still download it on my laptop too?

Well i hope i get an answer

Play classic, unless you want to have a 2nd account for botting you wont survive on toa servers, Toa comes in the multipack daoc box and did make alot of changes. Basically the classic server has 2 differences than the others... buff bots have to be in your group and within range, and there is NO toa content, no artifacts, no master leves. but as a new comer i would advise staying away from TOA.

So where can i lvl fastest TOA or classic?

And what would be the two best dou classes for duo pvp and group pvp?

are those classes written above okay in grp pvp too?

It is faster to level up on the classic servers due to not having ToA. Plus with classic having high numbers a lot of the battlegrounds (low level PvP places) are populated. For expansions, I suggest getting them all if you can.

As for classes that depends on what realm you want to choose.

Midgard - I would say healer + skald.

Hibernia - Bard + any tank/caster. I would say a Valewalker compliments a bard really well.

Albion - Sorcerer + cleric is a great duo.

Though there are many different combinations  for each realm that will do good. It  just really depends on what you want to play

So if i buy the plainum pack and install TOA too can i still play on  classic?

And has anybody advice if the internet pack is good?

because ime european and i cant find the patinum pack anywhere.... so i thought about D loading it on EU site..

Or is it better to play on US servers even though i would play at night in US time zone?

In WOW we where Warlock and Shadowpriest that where the classes we liked most... Are there classes that are monthing like that?(i know that DAOC has warlocks too but i dunno how they are)

Yes, you can play on Classic, just TOA wont be on the classic servers.
  • lerylery Member Posts: 8
So i have been looking at the classes a bit and i really liked vampiir or bashee.

wich class would go good with those?

Both are good classes.  Vampiirs are pretty common atm and do very well in both pvp and pve, they are easy to level solo or grouped.  Banshee's require a little more "skill," or at least getting used to although I have not played a banshee very high since I am mostly an Alb.

So i have a last question.

I might want to change to age of conan or Warhammer online so i am not sure if i can reach something with a new character in that time (like half a year or 3/4)?
