Any word on the elusive I9 yet?

Seems like updates take forever with CoH.  Has there been any word or hints on when it will finally be released?

All I know is they are in closed beta right now. As to when it's going to go live? Your guess is as good as mine. I remember it took a few months for I8 to go live after I7 came out. I8 hasn't been out more than a couple months.

I predict they'll open up the test server at the end of this week, beginning of the next. I sure hope they're getting some good value out of this unprecedented closed beta approach, because it's just stupid PR.

Anyway, assume last week in April for i9 to go live.

Also, as long as I'm making predictions, I predict that i10 will be particularly small. It'll likely have the villain epic AT and maybe another powerset or two, but not much else. They need to pop one out fast to keep up with their states "3 issues per year" target.

    Currently playing:
    DC Universe
    Planetside 2
    Magic Online
Simunomics, the Massive Multiplayer Economic Simulation Game. Play for free.

A couple of months?  When did I8 come out?  I thought it was around November or so, but I could be off.  It's been a while...

Issue 7 was released in June of 06. Issue 8 was November 29, so it's been a bit more than a couple months I seemed to remember, but it's still 5 months between 7-8. If I had to guess, I'd say it would be on the Training Room in 2-3 weeks and we'll see it live sometime the beginning of May.

New builds is still in the progress right now in the test room. Approx. mid-April will be the time when i9 hit live.. or else.. hit the test server as open test.. then it will be.. end of May or early June for live..

its hard to predict but dont worry, i9 is alive and kicking

All canceled. Waiting on Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning.

I9 just went into Open Beta today. Lots of information will be flowing out on the Issue 9 discussion boards on cityofheroes.com

The download , for I9, when you log off is running on my computer atm.

So I9 is installed on every computer that play CoH/CoV in the last hours and that the user didn't cancel the download upon exiting.

Usually I would say that is a good sign but considering similar downloads in the past, we were looking at a month before Live(correct me if I'm wrong).  With I9 being large and the devs wanting to 'thoroughly' test this issue, my pessimistic side says we may be looking at two more months before it goes to the live servers.  I feel I've gotten more than enough out of I8(actually experienced most of it in 2 weeks) and with my timecard expiring in April, I want to maximize my other time cards for I9 and I10 so am taking a more cautious approach to the newest Issue.

I rather wait than having server downs frequently for hotfixes.

I'd rather have quality updates more often.  2-3 updates a year is way too long to wait in a repetative game like CoH.  It's fun but it gets old fast.

Issue 9 adds some major stuff (i've spent the last few days playing it on the Test server) but it has already had some thorough testing by the closed beta candidates so I don't think it'll be too long before it hits the Live servers.

Issue 10 will be more of a content issue from what I understand, so I'd think there'll be more public testing (that's a guess, btw).

So far Issue 9 seems pretty solid.  There are a few small niggles with it, but compared to previous Issue tests I've done (which is all of them) this one has alot of stuff in it that actually works already.
