My grandpa spent 32yrs in the AF retired as an E-8. He went to Korea. The closest he got to fighting was being 600mi away. The only AF that "fought" in that war was the ones who got their asses handed to them because at the time AF didn't have any Combat Arms training.

Let me ask you this....... did it make front page news in '06 when Iraq won the silver medal in the Asian Games for Soccer after not even entering the tournament in 12yrs?

    I bet it didn't.

Hehe...at least we don't need comic book manuals to teach us how to do our jobs!

See the problem here is that this government and it's media mouthpieces have got your heads so pumped full of propaganda that you young pups think you're goddamn hero's before you've even laced-up your boots...lol!

Your Grandpa was only an E8 after 32 years?! He musta been a rough and tumble! That is to say he musta did things his own way...my kinda guy!! Your Grandpa served his country faithfully for more than 3 decades...doesn't matter where he was.

The Air Force and the Navy have the best lookin' girls and the best food...hands down. You wanna be the poor bastard who gets his little wiener blown off by a mortar shell with a cell phone taped to it...be my guest.

Now THAT is funny. Being demeaning about ones age and using "lol" in the same sentence... I'd almost say "lol".

Hey, better having a dick to get blown off than being a dick without having one. (this reminds me of the shit and pussy monologue from Captain America)

Anyways, you have a point with your little rants about the culinary superiority (which of course explains the superiority of its members) of the airforce and navy??

Ergl. I mean Team America. God dammit. With all the talking about Captain America these days.

Poopy's gotta feel pretty threatened if he feels he has to block me.Guess age doesn't always grow balls.

SnaKey, I might have missed it, but you have any idea when you'll be back?

I don't think I'd ever want to be a soldier. The fact of death doesn't sway me, it's the other war effects. Loosing eyesight from being too close to a gernade, limbs flying off, paralyzed, loosing hearing from gunshots. I guess it's because I'm a musician. Imagine being drafted and then serving my 3 years, coming back blind and deff. I wouldn't have a job. And then you have the messed up life afterwords from the extreme training and watching all your friends and soldiers in your division die. I can't imagine having war flashbacks...
    Thank you brother.

George W. is only the front man...Dick Cheney is actually the boss calling the shots. The VPs office enjoys a great deal of immunity and is very heavily insulated from external scrutiny...the perfect set up for a shadow government boss! To illustrate...do you remember this article by renowned investigative journalist Seymour Hersh? It details how billions of US taxpayer dollars have been secretly funneled through Dick Cheney's office and diverted to Sunni terrorist organization's who have direct ties to al-Qaeda! When the story broke the mainstream corporate media swept it aside faster than you could slap a tick!

And right on cue we had a brand new controversy manufactured by the Whitehouse...the Gonzales/attorney firings! They create these "controversies" ahead of time...then when something bad or embarrassing happens within the administration, they simply reach in and pull out a brand new controversy to divert the publics attention...like nickel-dick shooting that old man in the face.

Being an artist is something that most of us can't comprehend of...the ability to channel something of great beauty from the unconscious(?) level and have it manifest and materialize in a way the causes peoples hearts and imaginations to soar into the heavens, well that's more important than almost anything else IMO.

Poopypants: You are not very bright for an older fella, you call everyone an idiot who doesn't agree with you on the pre-tense that they are young and naive. You have single-handedly proven that age doesn't mean wisdom.
You call everyone an idiot for 'blindly' belieiving in their views of the world, yet you rave on about these conspiracies, do you have any first hand evidence? or just links and articles? How the fuck are you any different from anyone else here? Do you think your super intelligent because you have formed an opnion going against the majority.
You're believing just as 'blindly' as anyone else in these forums, just from different sources. Nothing you have said has proven why you are any more correct than the other people here. Personally I like to keep an open mind, perhaps half of what you say is true, but your evidence goes off directly what you see in articles and links. How is that any different from reading the Bible? from reading evidence contradictory to your views?
I suggest next time you want to spout your views and call people 'idiots' at the same time, you get some first-hand evidence, you're just as naive as anyone else here.
Oh, and taking pot shots at a young soldier, well that just shows what a 'man' you are, he doesn't care about your veiws, keep it to yourself <Mod edit>.

So, how long did you serve? By the looks of it, not very long at all. You only get E-9 if you're a politician. Anyone who's ever served knows that much. As a matter of fact, I'm starting to doubt you even served at all. E8 - E9 is alot different.

I also didn't say anything about the Navy. The fact is, we need the Navy. The AF can be taken over by civilian contractors, since the majority of the work they do is Supply. Most combat pilots are Army (copters)and Navy.

AF does have the best looking girls. But, why would I join a branch for the girls? Isn't that what bars are for?

The media has my head pumped full of shit? I only hang out with military and everyone I hang out with has been over there and is going for their second time. All we've been doing for the last 6months is talking about Iraq. They are all Infantry on the ground in Baghdad for a yaer.

But, the media has my head pumped full of stuff. image

How do you expect some one to take you seriously with a name like poopypants? I'm only 18 but c'mon you named your self poopypants, even I find that immature but I guess I'm just a young blood. I try to care about politics but theres just to my bull coming from both sides to actually take up a side but chances are that what ever happens with this "new world order" will not directly effect me in my life time much like global warming so I'm just gonna go play a video game.

Well, actually what happens with this "new world order"  will affect you in your life time and it's likely that global warming will, also.  BUT... you are only 18 and I have a feeling that there will still be time for you to worry about it later.  After you're done playing your video game.

    All I can read is:

"Yeah, I'm a moron and don't have a good rebuttal to what you said."

Cause you know I'm right. The AF is just a company that thinks they're military. The main and almost only role of the AF is to supply. We don't need a whole branch for that.

    Army has ground.
    Marines have Coasts.
Navy owns technology, the air, and the water.

What does the AF have? A bunch of sissies with long hair and "hot girls".

Exactly! By being in Iraq and putting so much effort, time, and resources into it means we are effectively putting all our eggs in one basket. It's like if I just went on to play a mulitplayer Civilization 4 game and I pretended i'm only playing against one opponent and completely ignore the other 8 civilizations.

Bush implies that we are winning the war on terror across the entire world by being in Iraq....it's completely insane.

If you say "We are winning the war on terrorism" and if terrorism is a GLOBAL problem then how can Iraq fix it?

If someone can tell me how winning in Iraq is going to win the war on terror please let me know. If taking over countries is how you "win the war on terrorism" then we will need to set up a draft....we will need to take over A LOT of countries....er "spread democracy"....

I know it's not going to make America any safer from terrorists. The only thing we can do is secure our borders and sky, instead of sending our resources, and men all the way on the other side of the world.

SnaKey, good luck over there in Iraq. You'll make a good Democracy Spreader. You know what they say about being a democracy spreader, right? If they don't want democracy you gotta shoot them, it's the only way they learn.

For all of you ignorant people who choose to believe that nothing good has come out of Iraq because they can't be bothered to try and get their information about what is going on in the world from anywhere else other than MTV or Comedy Central, let me give you a short list of some improvements in Iraq.  I did not write this, I am simply quoting it.

    [Collected on the Internet, 2003]

Since President Bush declared an end to major combat on May 1...

.. the first battalion of the new Iraqi Army has graduated and is on active duty.

.. over 60,000 Iraqis now provide security to their fellow citizens.

.. nearly all of Iraq's 400 courts are functioning.

.. the Iraqi judiciary is fully independent.

.. on Monday, October 6 power generation hit 4,518 megawatts - exceeding the prewar average.

.. all 22 universities and 43 technical institutes and colleges are open, as are nearly all primary and secondary schools.

.. by October 1, Coalition forces had rehab-ed over 1,500 schools - 500 more than scheduled.

.. teachers earn from 12 to 25 times their former salaries.

.. all 240 hospitals and more than 1200 clinics are open.

.. doctors salaries are at least eight times what they were under Saddam.

.. pharmaceutical distribution has gone from essentially nothing to 700 tons in May to a current total of 12,000 tons.

.. the Coalition has helped administer over 22 million vaccination doses to Iraq's children.

.. a Coalition program has cleared over 14,000 kilometers of Iraq's 27,000 kilometers of weed-choked canals which now irrigate tens of thousands of farms. This project has created jobs for more than 100,000 Iraqi men and women.

.. we have restored over three-quarters of prewar telephone services and over two-thirds of the potable water production.

    .. there are 4,900 full-service telephone connections. We expect 50,000 by year-end.

.. the wheels of commerce are turning. From bicycles to satellite dishes to cars and trucks, businesses are coming to life in all major cities and towns.

.. 95 percent of all prewar bank customers have service and first-time customers are opening accounts daily.

.. Iraqi banks are making loans to finance businesses.

.. the central bank is fully independent.

.. Iraq has one of the worlds most growth-oriented investment and banking laws.

.. Iraq has a single, unified currency for the first time in 15 years.

.. satellite TV dishes are legal.

.. foreign journalists aren't on 10-day visas paying mandatory and extortionate fees to the Ministry of Information for minders and other government spies.

.. there is no Ministry of Information.

.. there are more than 170 newspapers.

.. you can buy satellite dishes on what seems like every street corner.

.. foreign journalists (and everyone else) are free to come and go.

.. a nation that had not one single element - legislative, judicial or executive - of a representative government, now does.

... in Baghdad alone residents have selected 88 advisory councils. Baghdad's first democratic transfer of power in 35 years happened when the city council elected its new chairman.

.. today in Iraq chambers of commerce, business, school and professional organizations are electing their leaders all over the country.

.. 25 ministers, selected by the most representative governing body in Iraq's history, run the day-to-day business of government.

.. the Iraqi government regularly participates in international events. Since July the Iraqi government has been represented in over two dozen international meetings, including those of the UN General Assembly, the Arab League, the World Bank and IMF and, today, the Islamic Conference Summit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today announced that it is reopening over 30 Iraqi embassies around the world.

.. Shia religious festivals that were all but banned, aren't.

.. for the first time in 35 years, in Karbala thousands of Shiites celebrate the pilgrimage of the 12th Imam.

.. the Coalition has completed over 13,000 reconstruction projects, large and small, as part of a strategic plan for the reconstruction of Iraq.

.. Uday and Queasy are dead - and no longer feeding innocent Iraqis to the zoo lions, raping the young daughters of local leaders to force cooperation, torturing Iraq's soccer players for losing games, or murdering critics.

.. children aren't imprisoned or murdered when their parents disagree with the government.

.. political opponents aren't imprisoned, tortured, executed, maimed, or are forced to watch their families die for disagreeing with Saddam.

.. millions of long suffering Iraqis no longer live in perpetual terror.

.. Saudis will hold municipal elections.

.. Qatar is reforming education to give more choices to parents.

.. Jordan is accelerating market economic reforms.

.. the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded for the first time to an Iranian — a Muslim woman who speaks out with courage for human rights, for democracy and for peace.

    .. Saddam is gone.

    .. Iraq is free.

.. President Bush has not faltered or failed.

.. Yet, little or none of this information has been published by the Press corps that prides itself on bring you all the news that's important.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW? OUR MEDIA WOULDN'T TELL US!

And Baghdad is still the most dangerous place on Earth. In big cities there still aren't the most basic of facilities. Th war was still started because of a bunch of lies. Jobs are still a rarity. Suicide bombers still go off a few times a day. And so on and on and on.

  • Same 'ol tricks...produce a long list of  "accomplishments", forcing the opposition to spend huge amounts of time checking the validity of each item on the list...which could take many days.

You can bet your last dollar that there are at least a couple dozen half-truths in there and a few outright fabrications.

The proof is in the pudding...Iraq is in the throws of a bloody sectarian civil war!
