Play Count for UO?

I'm still trying to find a MMORPG to play, I use to play UO for years but I'm not sure where it's at yet and don't want to waste a monthly fee and buy the game just to try it for one day.  How many people are still playing this game and what is the biggest shard around now?

    Well there are no firm numbers, but at the mmorpg chart site, the site operator, places UO total population at about 150,000

    which is just about evenly split between US shards and Asian shards,  The most populated US shards are Atlantic, Great Lakes and Lake Superior,  Not sure about the Asian shards

     Pacific is still a very populated shard as well with a strong community and an avid pvp base.  The total players is indeed around 150k  with the american/asian-european split at around  30/70. with most of the asian base located in Korea.

    Just reactivated my account the other day.   All my main chars were on Pacific.    Logged on mid day(Pacific time) on the weekend and there were  0 people at brit bank.



    Logged right out and checked my other chars on Lake Superior and Atlantic and brit bank was packed full of players.



    The time difference played a part, I'm sure, but even so, 0 people at brit bank in the day hours gave me an impression that the shard was very low population.

    I know on baja, which is pretty dead. Everyone hangs at Luna now. They had a event a while back where Brit was invaded so everyone left.
