Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

There needs to be a mmorpg like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Multiplayer

Been playing the multiplayer quite alot lately and it's the perfect skill based combat i would want in a mmorpg rather than the stupid click on this button over and over. Basically you gain levels not to boost your health or anything but just to give you extra points to spend so you can get upgrades and new spells etc etc. There are 5 classes but obviously in a mmorpg there would be more: Archer,Rogue,Warrior,Priest and mage/wizard. It's all really well balances and the PVP has objectives and is really beautiful using source engine.

Any of you interested in it might aswel give it a try it's a very underrated game. Anyways my point is i wish someone made a MMORPG just like this multiplayer game.

I agree or oblivion like either way it probably would work, eq1 first player mode was actually like that and it wasnt bad for its day might I add and many many people stayed in first person mode.

Yes but EQ you hit buttons, i mean like the FPS combat like oblivion but DMM&M has done that better.

This is funny, me and  a bud were just talking about this, Oblivion would make a great MMO

For those who don't know, check out Fury.

It's action-online RPG. Think of Guild Wars (instanced combat) however, 2x the Fury. Game is currently in Alpha-testing stage and it's a BLAST to play, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE VOICE CHAT.

Not only that but there is 3 game modes currently that are all extremely fun and distinct from each other as well. Go to their website www.unleashthefury.com for more info.

    Best of all, it's a skill-based exercise.

But personally I still think oblivion would be better, im sure if they did make a mmorpg they would make some changes to combat to make it appeal more anyways, I would prefer the lore in oblivion m and m story line was kind of blah and short.

Sorry, if you find the combat in oblivion exciting, you must be brain dead.

Oblivion is not all about combat, while the combat is not the createst or fast paced, it still has great role play value, and many things to do.    PvP would be fun too,  think about playing a theif, you could set up a camp near a road and ambush passerbys.   Well, im not sure they would allow that, but just a thought.

I got one funny little word for ya that might just put a big ass dent in your fantasy:

    Lag.

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

First of all oblivion came out way before m and m, secondly I just said they would probably make adjustments meaning making combat better, you need to calm down and learn to read the posts before you jump to conclusions. Oblivion combat wise has way more abilitys then m and m btw and that is more appealing them using the same abilitys over and over again. Oblivion was alot more fun to me anyways.

God some people these days think they have it all figured out.

The irony of this statement goes beyond comprehension at the moment...

Irony? And how exactly did you come up with this conclussion? I think you just have nothing better to do but troll guy, all I was doing is explaining why I think oblivion might be a better idea did I claim I was perfectly right? No I did not did I say m and m was a bad idea? No I did not say that either, this is an opinion and it is my right so why dont you go get a life ok?

So you want a FPS... in a Fantasy Setting?

    That's really all DMM&M is.

    Age of Conan.

Why is it everytime someone asks for a good combat system that requires Aim some idiot has to scream 'Lag'. Chronicles of Spellborn, Huxley, Hell Gate London (yes played it at E3 online it was smooth and fun- no lag), Age of Conan, and some other upcoming MMORPG games will incorporate Aim I'm not sure why some rpgers go into a coughing fit everytime someone asks for a nice combat system.

OP- yes Dark M&M would be very entertaining or oblivion.

I dont know about playing age of conan it seems cool, but the requirements for a game like that might be a bit much for me, and I could not find anything on classes is there even a magic type class in that game?

Every likes to say this, but fail to realize how dumbed down and NOT fun the Elder Scrolls games would be if MMO-ized. TES games are fun because you are the only hero in a desperate world. Oblivion is so much fun because there is such a limit on the restrictions of what the player can do. Do you really want the same type of game having to cater to enough playstyles so that it won't be considered a flop and have 100 or so people playing (a.k.a NON-Massively Multplayer).

I agree though, that the combat system would be a welcome innovation in the MMO genre.

I said DMM&M over Oblivion because oblivions combat is very slow and i just didn't enjoy it. However DMM&M is fast and fluid and already has a pvp multiplayer that works really well.I personally didn't enjoy oblivion and i don't think it would work out as well in PVP or combat vs PVE. DMM&M has great combat against PVE and has really kool spells and you can use physics like HL2.
  • AngelboundAngelbound Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 1,437
Well I think they need the combat of m and m with oblivions depth and pve depth, I loved the ai of the npcs comming at me it felt extremly realistic to me.
